I am so thankful that Shelley was persistent in sending me emails inviting me to the upcoming events. That is what led me to choose Oaks when it was time for Mom to move.

Mom's room is always clean, her laundry is done several time a week and is folded/put away for her. Her bed linens are changed once a week, the trash in her room is emptied daily. I would love to live here one day. Andrew, the Executive Director, is always out and about. He knows all of the residents by name and knows details about each one. He knew me by name before I had even moved my mom in. The Executive Directors at two other communities where my mom lived prior to the Oaks never left their offices and didn't know my name, even though I visited 4-7 days a week. Lynne, the Horizons activities director, is amazing. She has so many great things planned, my mom loves going for rides on the community bus, even if it's just the "scenic joyride" around Woodstock. My mother has lived at three other AL and memory care communities and the Oaks is by far the best. I visited four communities before selecting the Oaks. I also asked around a lot, talked to many people in the industry, including the caregivers, CNAs, etc. They all said how great the Oaks is and how much they would love to work there if given the chance.

Two meals per day are included with the rental. There is a casual and a formal dining room, theater room, pool, gym, private dining room, rec room, a shuttle for residents, and more! The activities calendar stays packed -- my social calendar does not compare!! Lol My family booked the theater room over the weekend to have a "family movie day" with my grandma. It was easy to book, the staff was more than helpful, and we had a great time. My grandma moved to a smaller unit after my grandfather passed, and has been happy with the quality of both units. The staff is always pleasant to visitors and the residents are usually smiling when I see them. :)

I was so overwhelmed by my grandma's treatment, being a caretaker and provider is tough. Hearing of Nursing homes and elder care with so many horror stories that I took care of her myself. She has cancer and goes to dialysis weekly. It was so hard to do everything for her by myself, According to her, I "missed out" on so much taking care of her when the truth is its because I couldn't find quality care. Before the pandemic I had to be out of town for more than a week or work and was worried about what to do. Thank God for Jason and Annie, wow! I saw one of their ads on facebook and took a chance, they are so polite and professional! You can tell they really care about their patients and love what they do. They were attentive, respectful and really understanding. My grandmother doesn't like staying with "strangers" but she took up to that place and she's looking forward to my next trip. I'm grateful because I know theres quality help and care available to her.
