The Lamb chops, shredded chicken curry and naan were extraordinary!

What I loved about the place, besides the remarkable food and unforgettable naan bread was the hospitality of the team. They were very kind, helpful and very generous. They even gave some extra dish that was that special curry with shredded chicken to dip in with the freshly baked to order naan. I ordered the lamb chops that were grilled to perfection, juicy, not over cooked and well marinated. My friend ordered the gyro and he was also quite impressed. The prices are reasonable and the place is very holy. I loved the pictures on the wall that provide a history of Afghanistan. And exceptional experience.

Kabobs, horrible haleem and wilted salad.

Honestly after 30 years food preparation has sincerely declined. The kabobs were mediocre, haleem was horrible and salad was wilted. Was the best place we went all the time. Now will probably not return because the last few times it's been this quality.

We recently to here for dinner. You order at the counter and sit down or carry out. The portion sizes are big. The food was good overall. The salad wasn't really needed, it wasn't flavorful. The mango lassi was good. The servers were friendly and helped if we have questions. The inside was outdated and very cold. We would come back

Went back today for lunch and tried the chicken bowl. The flavors and color all stood out on their own. This is a good option if you need that little extra to stick on the bones :) ...btw, still get the chick peas on the side, they taste delicious.

Sample of the new dessert offering

My friends and I have been eating at Charcoal Kabab for years. The kababs and Karahi are the best in the DC area! If you like spicy food you just have to ask them to make the Karahi extra spicy. Lately they have added some new menu options to expand the already very good menu. One of my favorites of the new offerings is this made-in-store Afghan dessert speciality. It is delicious! It's smooth and creamy, and the nuts and cream that are offered make for a complex and delicious overall taste.

This is my GO-TO Kabab spot in all of northern Va. Fresh produce and quality meats combined with perfect blends of spices makes for top notch eating! The atmosphere has really stepped up over the years and gives authentic Mediterranean vibes! Staff is always friendly and meal prep is quick!! Give it a try- you'll love it!

I'd like to attempt the chickpea recipe served at this restaurant. Any hints as to what this style of chickpeas is called? TIA! What about those fantastic lentils?

It's fantastic isn't it!! Chickpea curry. This recipe should be pretty close: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree-drummond/chickpea-curry-with-rice-2813244

I'm a local customer and live just a minute away, so I've visited more than once. I came in for lunch today with my wife and our 1.5-year-old son. After placing our order and sitting down, the server loudly yelled from behind the counter for us to come get our water. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, especially with a young child. When I placed my order, I asked for extra white sauce, and I asked again when the food came out. Both times, the request was ignored. I also mentioned that we hadn't received our drinks, but instead of addressing it, the server again yelled for us to get the drinks ourselves from the cooler. The food itself was okay, but the bread was very poor--hard and barely edible. I even called the restaurant later in the evening to share my concerns, but was told the server was off at that time. Overall, very disappointing experience, mainly due to the customer service. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvement.

The pumpkin dumplings and pan fried veggie filled dumplings were great as well. I thought my salmon wrap and the chickpea side was ok. Interesting flavors for sure. As for the service, there was always someone filling up our waters and our waiter was very nice checking in every now and then. The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

I hadn't seen that before and I was skeptical before eating but wanted to try something different and it was incredible. My only pro tip is that when you order a veg main it's a lot of one thing, whereas meat mains come with a veg. Next time I will order the veggie combo option to get more diversity. Normally I write longer reviews but in this case I think I will let the food photos speak for themselves.
