The Mediterranean fare here is truly as good as it gets! We had the falafel, spanakopita, baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, and chicken shwarma. After trying many a bad falafel (looking at you Cava and Roti with your mushy, soggy abominations), and an occasional good ones, let me tell you these are the best falafels I have had in this area. First, these are small patties and not balls. This guarantees a higher crisp to non-crisp inside ration. Second, the crisp is a thick layer of crispy. Why fry something if it's not going to be crispy? And third, the inside holds together solidly and nothing mushes. The baba ghanoush has a nice mix of chunk and smooth, well balanced with smokiness and tahini. The hummus is adequately garlicky (you can always rinse your mouth after) and delightfully not a paste. I ate the leftovers of both with a spoon long after my hunger has satiated. I liked that the spanakopita wasn't huge where you have to go through layers and layers of philo pastry to get to the good stuff inside. The tabbouleh is well balanced between tomatoes and parsley. And it was frrrrresh! The chicken shwarma was another favorite. The whole thing comes lightly toasted, adding to a bit of texture. The slightly tart cucumber makes the whole thing, offering a balance to the creamy sauce. Also, a good amount of chicken, but not all chicken. I do wish this place was near me. Totally stoked to hear about their Arlington opening. Will definitely visit! read more

I've been here three times in the last two weeks because it's close to work and their food and prices are super reasonable! Their falafel platter and sandwich is fantastic! I can't get over the falafels tho because it perfection. You'll just have to try it for yourself. The chicken shawarma is decent and they have a wide variety of salads and sandwiches. The workers are friendly and the service is good but not as fast as I'd like for lunch. Can't blame them tho because they're packed during lunch hour but all their food is ready to go so you can take it back to your desk or eat in the restaurant that has a few tables and couches. I really enjoy this place. I order from here once a week for lunch, and I am always impressed with the consistency. The hummus is actually very tasty, and the Gyro is decent. I am a fan of the Gyro plate instead. I get the falafel appetizer every time, and really this could be a meal by itself since it comes with pita. The meat in the dish is always very tender. I have tried the Chicken Currry Kabob which is very tasty. I prefer the Mixed Grill Kabob because it comes with all three meats (chicken, steak, and ground beef). That is my go to dish actually. That is served with seasoned rice. I have not tried the pita's but my co-worker seems to like them. I am not a fan of the regular Gyro or the Turkey club sandwhich. Overall, this is a really good go to place for lunch. Quality food, with great prices. I will be back. read more

Olive Express is a convenient lunch option if you happen to work in one of the numerous office buildings nearby. I usually go for one of the salads or paninis. Honestly, food-wise Olive Express is decent - the portions are of a reasonable size and the menu options usually come with some sort of side. The biggest problem with this location is the time it takes to get your food once you order. If you don't order ahead of time (like an hour+ in advance) and specify a time of pickup, expect to wait at a minimum 20 minutes if you come around lunch time, as that's when everyone else in the building comes as well. There are a couple of tables inside, but most of the people inside will likely be people waiting to get their food. read more

I've ordered from Olive Express about 4 times and have considered their food "ok". This is an option for Friday lunch at my school and it's always a treat to have something different to end the week. Today I ordered the buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese for $10. When I received my lunch I was shocked at the size. For $10 I expected more salad and for the lettuce to be edible. Unfortunately, much of the lettuce had to be thrown out and the ranch (that I didn't order) it was sour tasting. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

So far - so good! Got the Lamb Gyro platter. Pretty darn yummy! Nice to-go presentation too. So..... Just moved here from NY, and I have been on a kick for this kind of place! I have to say it was a little confusing to find but I ended up finding it with no problem! When I got there I was impressed. Super clean, the service was also quick and a HUGE menu to check from. All different kinds of food, I had gone there for the gyro and falafel. Only took about 7-10'minutes to get my food and they were packed. Only spending around 10-11$ for a boatload of Food. Most places go very skimpy on the meat, they packed it on for the price. I would 100% recommend to anybody in this area or not to check this place out! I was very happy! And full. The girl at the front said she was new, about a week, and she had great customer service and was fast with everything! During the summer when I was a kid I would go to my dads restaurant and hang out with him while he was cooking. (He was a exec chef for a place in DC. I dont remember which but I know it was owned by Augers which also owned Blackies House of Beef.) My dad was a master at his craft, cooking amazing dishes from all over the world. When lunch time came I had his world of knowledge at my disposal and palate. Problem was, I was 8. I didn't care about any of that stuff. All I cared about was one thing. A sandwich. One he made for me countless times for lunch over many summers. When I was old enough to care I asked him what It was; It was a Reuben. I remember it like it was yesterday. That first bite into that hot corned beef, while simultaneously tasting the sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing. A classic juxtaposition of savory and sweet, while adding salty and tangy to keep you in awe. All wrapped up in mouth watering butter toasted rye bread. Its one of my favorite memories as a kid. Getting to have that, everyday. All I had to do is say when. My dad died in 2000. Leaving behind a legacy of great cooking and me with a fond memory of summers spent in his kitchen eating what now is my favorite sandwich of all time. I have few regrets in life. One is that I didn't learn how to make it the way he did. Since my teenage years I've been on a "Quest" if you will, to find the perfect Reuben. I've probably had hundreds over the years. A few have been pretty good but none have been my dads. Today, that changed. Today at Olive Express, after that first bite, I was 8 years old again, sitting on the prep table in my dads kitchen eating the best sandwich I've ever had. I work in the Commerce Park Corporate Center in Reston, and a few months ago I fell into the Olives Café. Provided below are my impressions of what I consider to be one of the best little Cafe's I have ever had the pleasure of eating!!!! 1. Service: Excellent Service with a very hands on Owner. The cashiers and the ladies that make the food are so polite and accommodating; its incredible. 2. Quality of Food: I have eaten the kabobs, the salads, the breakfast sandwiches and everything is fresh, contains wonderful flavors, the wheat bread and the FRENCH FRIES are so good you want to TELL THE WORLD, the quality of the different Kabob meats are always incredibly flavorful and unique, and the staff is always willing to help you find a combination of choices to make an incredible breakfast or lunch experience!!! 3. Price/Cost: The breakfast is so reasonably priced I wonder how the owner actually makes money, and the options that she is willing to tailor to your needs means that you might never run out of breakfast choices. The lunch prices are reasonable for this area and definitely for the amount of food you receive for your payment. I have always made an effort to try new places for breakfast and lunch, but due to my work schedule it is not always practical. Olives will deliver in the Corporate Park and I believe that they have a particular radius that they will deliver in the area (check with them) as well. This is a great service for people who are busy and just adds to the obvious commitment of the owner and her staff to 110% customer satisfaction. Olives will always receive my highest possible rating because this café provides what is really needed, high quality food which flavorful and consistently excellent, their obvious commitment to their customers, the combinations and flexibility of the staff and the costs to consume. I have never had a bad experience only really positive one's in the 20+ times I have eaten in the Olives Café. This place is in an office building or office development I should say. Lobby and through a couple of doors; like their cafeteria per say. Cashier Jessica was nice and even called me by my name as I was leaving. Took about 5 minutes for the food to be done right at noon and with a few people in front of me. I ordered to go even with a few tables to sit and enjoy. It's not too big but has a hand full of tables. Food was really tasty. Chickpeas were in a tomato sauce; a first for me...but good. The yellow rice was also good. The Greek salad fresh. Didn't get bread with the steak bassal kabob. Steak was very tasty and big chunks...the downside, only four pieces. Not sure I would pay $10 for 4 pieces of steak with many kabob places in this area. I'll be back for breakfast ;) read more

I haven't had many good experiences at deli's that serve office buildings. Olive Express was quite the exception. My wife had gotten a groupon, so I went and got lunch for myself as well as dinner for later. The place is easy to find, surprisingly clean and bright, and the staff was very friendly. But most importantly, the food was very good. I went with a gyro for lunch between the well marinated meat and just the right touch of sauce, plus a nice little salad on the side, it was a great meal. For dinner both the chicken shawarma platter and sandwich were delicious. I especially liked the olive oil garlic sauce that came with my platter- it really added a great flavor. The chicken is moist and tasty, and it comes with hummus, rice, pita, a little greek salad, and the wonderful garlic sauce. I love it! The baklava is a tasty splurge when they have it. The personnel are always friendly. This place is pretty good- especially for a restaurant inside a corporate office building. I was enticed to come here thanks to a Specialicious deal $10 for $20 worth of food. Food is already decently priced and if I worked in the building, I'm sure I'd be back. But since the hours are very limited on weekdays only, this probably wont be able to be a frequent go- to option for me. They mixed up my order a little but once I explained I wanted grape leaves they threw those into my take out without additional cost. Very nice of them! I'm very glad I asked for them because they were soo good! If I came back for anything, it would be for these. Also for the $20, I managed to get a greek salad, some pita triangles, a mixed grill kabob with rice and veggies, AND a lamb gyro platter. Wow, I felt like a pig walking away with so much food! Once a week or so, we will order form Olive Express for lunch at work. It's one of the highlights of my week. The food is plentiful, flavorful, and affordable. I'm partial to the chicken schwarma pita - the garlic sauce they put in it is PERFECTION. The salad is also very tasty, fresh, and light and their cucumber sauce it's good too. I've had better cucumber sauce elsewhere, but as a whole it didn't make or break the meal. I've heard their hummus is pretty delicious too and all their platters seem to be a great hit every time we order from here. I'd definitely come back here and recommend it to others. I wanted sooo bad to like this place a lot since I like kabobs so much and the owner was soo nice. The food here was pretty good, but the lack of good sauce kills it for me. When I have kabobs I need the standard issue white sauce at least, and extreme bonus points for having a decent green/brown sauce. I will say this place definitely had a good value going on. I had the combo kabob which had beef cubes, kubideh (i think), and chicken. All the meats tasted good and the price was right.... But I neeed the sauce. The chicken came with a curry sauce on top that was okay, but not really my thing when I think of Kabobs (or curry for that matter). Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, it was pretty good, but it just isn't what I was expecting on my chicken kabob. I would have prefered some yogurt sauce or something. The shining star of the meal was the eggplant side dish. The owner recommended it and she nailed this one. It was sooo good. If I return here I will definitely be ordering it again. The place had a good crowd and plenty of seating, so it looks like they have a lot of regulars, which means they are obviously doing something right. While I'm usually a very picker eater, I will say that the Lentil soup is amazing and ordering the warm pita with it is a must. My absolute go-to is the turkey club and fries. They have the best crinkle cut fries, always hot, always crispy. I don't get the fries daily so I'm very appreciative of the small side "olive salad" that comes with the sandwich. read more

I went today, after 30 days of fasting for what I was hoping to be a great meal that was so bad, I forced some down the hatch and the rest down the garbage. I rarely toss food, and if I had a dog, I would have doggy bagged it. No, scratch that, dogs deserve better. I ordered the kabob mixed grill platter with egg plant. I expected bread but there was none so I couldn't really enjoy the eggplant. The chicken piece looked and tasted like tofu. Horrible. The steak piece was too grizzly and overcooked. The ground up one was inedible. The rice was more Spanish that it was middle eastern or Mediterranean. Also, none of the meat tasted grilled, more like baked or microwaved...I double there is an open flame in the office building. This was my second and last visit. The first one I had the chicken shwarma sandwich and it was mediocre at best. My coworker said it sucked and he hasn't been back...I kept telling him he couldn't judge it on one visit, but now I wish I had listened to him. read more
