I have been here quite a few times over the years and.i really feel the food is consistently very good. Service level has been improved recently with new staff at the front. They often ran out of the eggplant side which is my favorite before but not for the past few months. Ambiance is nice but I always do a takeout and enjoy it at home with a glass of wine. :) read more

My favorite place for afghan kabobs! The lunch specials is a good deal with a generous portion of food. I love how flavorful their shami is!! Their spinach/sabzi is delicious too- most of the time, I'm motivated to order here for just the sabzi itself. It takes a while after ordering to get your food because they cook to order. So I recommend calling ahead if you're thinking of take-out. read more

i doordashed from here bc i was craving kabobs so can't speak on service and ambiance. and this place did not satisfy the craving. i got the chicken/lamb combo with the chick pea side. chick peas probably saved the meal, everything just tasted weird and was just not good. there are better kabob places in the area that are incredible Update: the doordash order was for august 21. my review stands with what i thought of the food, and that there are better places for kabobs read more

If speed is your game, this place is not for you if you're in a rush! The food took a little while to come out but it's worth the wait. While you wait for your food you are entertained by the tv playing music videos and the great interior design of Mazar Kabob! You get a lot of food for the price you pay, and the food tastes pretty good so I have no complaints there. read more

Had a great experience at this restaurant! I got the boneless chicken kabob lunch special. Really enjoyed everything that came in the platter. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The veggies had some good seasoning to it. Really also liked the rice and bread that came with this platter. Also got spinach as a side for this dish, and it was decent. I was particularly impressed by the value of this platter. This lunch special cost $10, and if you weren't very hungry, you could probably split it with another person. So, excellent value! I visited Mazar Kabob and ordered the Lamb and Shami Combo with lamb curry. However, after returning to the office, I realized they had given me chicken and Shami with spinach instead. The next day, since I was at the Panda Express next door, I went in to inform them about the mix up, but the staff was dismissive and didn't offer any resolution. Very disappointing experience, and the food was average at best. Response to owner's comment: I spoke with two different people on that day, and at no point did they indicate that a refund or a new meal was an option. read more

Holy cow! Come here for lunch!!!! Their Lunch specials are amazing. I got the bone in chicken lunch special and it was 10$!!! Food was made to order, so it's not going to come out quick. Don't come here if ur in a hurry. But it was sooo much food. The bread was amazing (chewy and crunchy) also made to order and bigger than ur head! If you are picky or have too many questions then don't bother since I don't think they speak English very well. read more

I order the chicken kabob with a side of chickpeas for a hearty eat-in lunch about once every two weeks. It's recommended to call ahead to reduce what can otherwise be a moderate wait time (you are issued a number and can pay when you arrive). Sometimes they offer you a small cup of soup while you wait. My chicken kabob, rice, and naan are always excellent. The side salad is average and wouldn't be missed. The seating arrangement needs improvement. Expect to sink down into the booths. On my last visit, next to some tables there was a loud standalone air conditioner (hopefully temporary) attached to flex duct hanging from the ceiling. Fine for me but probably distracting for a group outing. read more

If you're looking for authentic, delicious, flavor and fresh food, Mazar Kabob is the place! I ordered the boneless chicken kabob platter with chickpeas. My husband and I are always on the hunt for a good kabob spot and this is the best I've had in a long time! I will definitely come back to try different items from the menu. Staff is super friendly and my friend and I sat at the fun seating area. They have regular seats as well but it was fun to try something different. Wait order times extremely long. One customer had been waiting an hour for carry out, another 30 minutes, me twenty minutes. When questioned they got an attitude, unfortunately I had already paid. The best middle eastern restaurant I have ever been in Virginia. The food was incredibly delicious and tasty, and the stuff was very polite and welcoming. We did take out from here. Took a while but it's all good, they grilled the lamb chops and lamb kabob to perfection. Very flavorful and oh so tender. You get a side and comes with side salad and naan bread. Bread was freshly baked or cooked. Everything was so good. I forgot to take a photo before we ate. Trust me go there and eat. Staff is friendly however I don't think I'd return or recommend. . The lamb was quite tough. The chickpeas didn't seem fresh and weren't very flavorful. The chicken was ok. The bread was hot and fresh which I liked but not enough to justify driving out to get food from here. The shrimp was terrible. They say it's grilled but it came straight out of a fryer. I'd never seen that before. They were tough and rubbery and went straight into the trash. Not the best kabobs I've ever tasted. read more

I've tried a lot of kabob in northern Virginia and I'd say Mazar has some of the best. Sure the prices are a little high, but they're high everywhere (kabob ain't cheap these days) and I always find the portions to be quite sizable (again, compared to other places like those big chains). The food tastes great and there's always enough for lunch the next day. I'll come back here every time. read more

The food all tasted generally authentic with an American kick. They make a great espresso martini as well. Had a couple of those. No issues about the atmosphere; it was lively and generally upbeat. The valet parking is complementary/priced at your discretion and they take cards, so that was super convenient, I tossed the guy a $20. Overall would highly recommend, has been one of the most authentic Persian dining experiences I've seen in the DMV, and I would definitely go back!

The first two provided a rich, fatty texture and intense aroma, while the latter burst in your mouth occasionally, juicy, tangy, and refreshing. Brussels Sprouts: Brussels sprouts with grapes, walnuts, fig jam, and mint yogurt--a whimsical yet magical combination... The Brussels sprouts offered a fresh, vegetal aroma and a slightly roasted aroma; the walnuts provided a nutty richness and crunch; the fruit provided a fresh sweet and sour taste and plenty of juice; and the yogurt acted as a binder between the flavors while adding a touch of minty coolness. Duck Shawarma: My friend and I thought: ...Peking duck? The skin was soft, the meat tender, not gamey, with a subtle smoky flavor; the fig and lemon sauce was sweet and refreshing; the small pita pillows held the meat securely, better than the lettuce what might have been too cold. Lamb Stuffed Grape Leaves: Black rice was wrapped in grape leaves and simmered with minced lamb. The rice absorbed the fragrance of the grape leaves, similar to lotus leaves (my friend and I thought: lamb version of sticky rice chicken糯米雞...?). The lamb, however, was served separately at the bottom of the pot and didn't absorb much flavor; overall, it was intensely sour. In short, this dish was a bit oddly designed, and it was the only one we didn't finish because the sourness was unbearable. Pita Bread: The bread was thin yet chewy, with a rough, slightly powdery surface, making it substantial and satisfying. I especially loved the "everything wrapped in a big pancake" style!
