Okay. This was kind of a funny experience. I Googled a spa experience for a certain date (my…read morepartner's birthday) near me. This came up. They had a package with infrared sauna, Korean body scrub and massage. The sauna my partner was not ready for, nor the body scrub. He doesn't like extreme heat in saunas. They left us in there for close to an hour and came back and apologized in broken English, like they forgot we were there. Then they told us to get into these elevated bath tubs. That's the best way to describe them. They had foam mats on the bottom, and it looked like jet sprays on the side. Well, they told us to get in, face down, with our heads sticking out the fronts. Not super comfortable in any way, including getting in an awkward position in front of these ladies. So the water was between cold and very hot. It was Dove body wash, nothing special. They scrubbed us head to toe around five times. Asked why we were there, and I said it's his birthday. They asked his name and sang happy birthday. Very funny. Then came the massage. I had to use the restroom. This is where I was really disappointed. It was pretty dang dirty. Not just kinda. Like, dirt. Everywhere in the bathroom. So now I'm headed back for this massage, and I am worried about the cleanliness. The massage consisted of each small woman climbing onto our backs and using their elbows and knees. She put me into a bow position (those in yoga know what I mean.) Remember, we have no clothes on; it was very, very uncomfortable. She kept saying wow, you're flexible. They tried making conversation, but it was stilted English. I was trying to give back some conversation to be polite, and my lady literally just walked away from me while I was mid-sentence. Actually walked out of the room. I wanted to laugh with my partner, but he was putting himself into a self-induced meditative state to avoid the awkwardness of the whole thing. I definitely would not go back. I felt a lot of pain the next day. My lady was rubbing my feet, and hit a nerve of some type, and commented, hmmm. what is this? And I kept saying, yeah, that hurts. Until finally I had to yank my foot away and say, THAT HURTS. It's in a strip mall. You get what you pay for.

I wrote a long and very detailed review, which is below but if you don't have time to read the…read morewhole thing, I'll just summarize it. (I realize it was a 8 months ago, but I've been harboring my resentment so I decided it's time to post this). I would not go to Nicole Monroe Hendrickson, although she owns a salon in New You also, she does not have the experience that she needs to be a stylist. She didn't listen to me about the color that I wanted on my hair and the haircut was horrible. WHOLE STORY On October 2nd, I made my 2nd visit to see Nicole Henriksen, who rents a chair there. I really like her and had a lot of fun talking with her. I love the salon and everyone is nice. She is from New York, where she says she owns a hair salon so I assumed she was very experienced. I wanted my hair colored a medium brown with chunky pieces of a wine color. I showed her multiple photos and I made it very clear that I wanted "the wine color to be piecy and very noticeable. What I ended up with: I didn't realize until I got home and my husband commented on the color and said, "I thought you were going to get chunky pieces of the red color". So I had him take photos of all sides of my hair and I was shocked that she only did tiny pieces of it and you could hardly see them. Plus, it was so dark underneath in the back that it looked black. You could see the right side barely had anything except for the dark brown, which I blame partly on the fact that the dryer I sat under was broken so it sat lopsided above my head. I tried to sit with my head at a weird angle so it would process evenly. I also blame the fact that she didn't even check the color that was in the foils to see if it was done. I screwed up by not looking at the back of my hair after she was all done but I trusted her and wasn't worried. I also want to say that if I had wanted dark brown hair with a small amount of wine colored tiny bits basically on one side and the back, I would've been fine with it. I felt comfortable enough with her to realize I needed to contact her, having no idea what she was thinking to have gotten the color so off. So, I texted her that evening when I realized how bad it was and it was really important to get it fixed as I had a high school reunion in a few days. She was not apologetic at all and after asking me to send her photos of my hair and defending herself, she gave me 2 times to come in on ONE day, one of the only two days she worked. She offered no other options, no apology, nothing. As an inactive licensed cosmetologist, I would've bent over backwards to help someone in that situation. I would have made sure I fixed someone's hair no matter what. She made me feel like I was a liar and she made a huge deal about it, telling me how much she would have to do to get it like I wanted. I finally gave up. At home I tried to lighten the dark brown by washing it twice that night and once the next day and I started noticing I had weird chunks of my hair missing as I dried it. I had my husband take a photo of all angles of my hair and it was chopped and the length was so uneven he had to cut off 2-3 inches of some parts just to make it look somewhat normal. Two weeks later, I was lucky enough to get in to see my daughter's hairstylist and she ended up having to cut off another couple inches and tried to blend it as best she could. I don't want anyone else to go through what I have so I do not recommend Nicole at all. It doesn't make sense that she's so inexperienced, especially her haircutting technique and her use of the thinning shears. I've debated for weeks about posting this review because I don't want to hurt her feelings but then I remind myself of the panic that hit me that whole week after I saw her and the stress I experienced trying to find someone to fix my hair, which I wasn't able to until weeks later, as I mentioned. This kind of thing shouldn't happen. I finally got up the nerve to try to contact one of the two owners by phone but I just got her voicemail. So then I texted one of them and explained the situation and wanted to give her a heads up that I was going to post this review here but I'd wait until I heard from her, but it's already been a couple months and I'm sick of waiting. I'm sorry Nicole, the last thing I wanted to do is make you feel bad but I wish you could've just tried to work it out with me. And to the salon owners, I feel like you should be more aware of what's going on and you really should've responded. Update... As it's been eight months, I was finally able to let my hair get stronger and was able to get some highlights put in, but the hair itself still has chunks missing so my stylist is doing what she can to keep blending it. If you would like to see photos of my experience,, let me know, and I can send them to you.

The waiting area is spread out nicely and very clean. There are plenty of up to date magazines to browse through while waiting in addition to countless brochures about conditions I've never even heard of. The staff is good at getting you in as early as possible and really makes an effort to reach out to patients when they have other cancellations occur. They never seem to be running behind schedule and I always get in and out quickly. Dr. Timmons is extremely friendly and always gives her biggest smile and best effort. Another thing I've noticed is that the head dermatologists always seem to have someone much younger and less experienced alongside them. Throughout the whole visit, this person acts pretty much as the nurse but the dermatologist is teaching them and explaining their actions the whole time. I believe that's actual hands on experience is the best way to learn so I enjoy watching this occur. I have only had good experiences here minus the fact that I still don't know why I randomly get hives (gross I know!) but they're working on finding some answers for me and that's all I can ask for!
