I wish I'd found this place ages ago. It's such a great atmosphere, for one--you can sense it when you walk in. I hadn't had my hair cut in over two years because of Covid (turns out they would have accommodated my inability to wear a mask), and in that time the texture of my hair changed a lot. Curls galore. Anna Rose did a great job giving me a new "do" the first visit then new color the second visit a few weeks later. I like that they are environmentally kind too. read more

Never got my hair done here. Arrived 17min early to my appointment (9:43am) their door states they're open at 9am..doors are locked and lights are off. I get a text from my stylist that I'm supposed to meet for the first time ever that they are running a few min late but shouldn't be much longer. I wait until 15min past my appointment time, I've now waited 30min for my appointment and they are no where to be seen. I left and rescheduled at Revive Salon in White Bear. Definitely disappointed that this happened as I was very much looking forward to a change. read more

While planning my wedding, beKIND has been a high point. This was the only salon I called that actually sincerely cared about helping me find someone to do my hair and/or makeup for my early ceremony. Though she couldn't help me at the time, Carol spent time with me on the phone even though she didn't know me and I hadn't made an appointment yet. My own stylist that I've gone to for nearly a decade couldn't spend that time with me! My own cousin that works in the industry couldn't extend any courtesy to help me but Carol and her salon welcomed me with open arms without evening knowing me for two seconds. Needless to say I made an appointment later after talking with Carol. I felt more comfortable going to someone I hadn't even met yet than my own family! I went in to donate my hair and have a wedding consult. I've been donating my hair for more than a decade and she's the first that took a before and after photo to show it off. She was truly excited about my donation and honestly wanted to get to know me. She is a curious soul and so unbelievably kind. She spent nearly an hour playing with my hair to figure out what best to do for my wedding. Since we have to do my hair the night before she really wanted to make sure I was comfortable with everything. The store is quaint and clean. They have all cruelty free products as well as sustainable. I believe they compost the hair in some way because they have a separate trash bin for it. Instead of a drama filled workplace I got the feeling that they all get along and really enjoy where they work. Before stumbling upon their website I had never thought of trying to find a sustainable and cruelty free salon but beKIND is one of two certifiably green salons in the Twin Cities. I can't imagine I will ever need another salon. They also offer facials, massage, waxing and the like. I can't recommend them more and I can't wait for Carol to do my wedding hair! read more

Some of the best hair cuts I've received and at a great value. I've lived on the east coast for the past 12 years and am happy to find a salon in MN that I can confidently go back to and afford. Everyone here is kind and knowledgeable. I go to Carol but would trust any of their stylists. read more

I have long hair, and have been avoiding getting a hair cut for over a year because typically the stylist does what they want, and I am disappointed because they didn't listen to what I want. Well... yesterday I went to BeKind salon, and had Malerie cut my hair, and she did the most perfect job ever!!! I told her I wanted it to look natural, like I hadn't even had a haircut, and she totally got what I wanted. Honestly, I think this is the best hair cut I have ever had, and I am not going to wait another year to have Malerie cut my hair again. What a joy to know that we have this little gem in WBL. I would like to add that everyone at the salon was friendly and talkative, I just felt at home right away. The fact that they are a green salon is a big part of why I tried them out, we need more green businesses in our town. read more

I have to say I wish I had a good experience but sadly not. I got there early and was met with that they could not do my perm due to water issues? Now they have my phone number and my email and I was not co tasted before my appointment? But they could do my haircut? I had a wedding on Saturday and thought well better than nothing. After the cut was asked about the perm to schedule that and I gave my work schedule and she did not want to help accommodate my schedule to reschedule the perm but made an exception to come in early the following week. Just about 15 mins after I left she canceled that appointment and rebooked me at a time that I was working! So confused so I messaged her back that we talked about that and it did not work so I have to cancel. No other options given. So I was looking for a place to give me a perm for the wedding which I found and did a great job. I will never go back here I felt I was not heard at all and maybe lied to about the water issue as there were plenty of others getting hair done and their hair had been washed ? so be warned ! read more

Cannot say enough about this salon. Not only is it a green business, it is a very comfortable environment while having your services completed. Diane performs magic on my hair! I have wavy hair and other typical stylists part and perform hair cutting 101, but she knows how to free cut my hair. The color she uses on my hair is just perfect. Diane has a great perspective on how you want your hair to look. Carol performs my facials and she asks questions before she gets started on an hour of relaxation. Love the rule of no talking during the procedure. I have sensitive skin and the green products help tremendously. Do not have an electric car, but they have a parking spot with the equipment to charge your electric vehicle. This company really thinks outside the box. read more

I made an appointment to get my very outgrown, very damaged hair colored and trimmed. After reading the reviews, I was hopeful that I would find a new salon to call home. I love this place! Diane repaired my color and it looks better than it ever has! She was so friendly and helpful, and the color they use is honestly the best I've seen! My hair is healthy, shiny, and the color is exactly what I was hoping for. The salon is so cute, very clean, and the staff so welcoming. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! read more

After living in California for 15 years this is the first salon I have found in The St.Croix Valley that is truly "kind" There is a good selection of organic and "kind" products. And, the whole Salon is green. Best of all is Lisa who can work magic and perform some miracles on your skin with her laser, but especially her skin pen. It's always hard to find a good hair professional when you move to a new town. I chose beKIND because they've received great reviews here, carry the products I like and are close to my home. But what I didn't expect was a truly great haircut! Lisa really "got" what I wanted to do (a fairly big change) but she was also knowledgeable, fun and fast. Today I went and got my hair colored/highlighted for my wedding that's in a couple weeks! I can always count on Diane at BeKind to do the best blonde! Blonde is so hard for some salons, but this place always kills it! I feel so beautiful for my wedding day! The owner Carol is also amazing, she greets everyone who walks in the door and asks if they need anything to drink. The ambiance is fun and chill and it's a "All natural" salon where they recycle everything! Definitely a go to place for other brides who want to look their best! read more

To start, I met the owner's and several staff at a function through WBL schools. Be Kind was a vendor at the event. I loved the concept of the salon and am a believer of supporting small business. I made an appointment to get a haircut with Lisa Anderson. I was looking forward to a relaxing experience, as I am a busy working mom, so escaping to pamper myself is time that is hard to come by. What I was met with was anything but "Kindness" Lisa proceeded to ask me what I did for a living. I shared that I review claims for disability. She proceeded to tell me that she knows so many people that don't deserve disability benefits, people fake their conditions etc.... She stated that homeless people make more money than she does and they just panhandle to drink. She proceeded to tell me all about her daughter's awful boyfriend etc... Needless to say, least relaxing experience ever. The biggest upset was while she was thinning out my hair (I have VERY thick hair) she was twisting it and cutting in the middle with thinning sheers. At one point I noticed a chunk of hair missing from my face. I called her out and she proceeded to act like it was from a previous cut. I left upset but still tipped. I am not a fan of confrontation... I did call Carol, the owner, mainly to just share my experience. She was defensive and my perception was that she didn't believe me. That call was a waste of my breath. The icing on the cake. A few weeks after the cut I went into SunBear Salon for a color consult. The stylist Allie, whom was wonderful, was looking at my hair and was visually shocked. She said I had chunks of hair only a few inches long all over the back underside of my hair. She asked who the stylist was and asked if she could call the salon on my behalf because the cut I received was so poorly done. Needless to say I am now having to cut my hair into a short bob to level out the mess Lisa left me with. I am furious. Bottom line, don't let Lisa Anderson cut your hair. No joke. read more
