As a new patient, I expected a better experience. I was on time (actually, 25 minutes early) yet I sat in the exam room 45 minutes past my appointment time. It was unprofessional to hear the doctor and assistant laughing and chatting in the hallway while I waited. When I finally asked when I would be seen, I was told by the doctor that she was reading my chart, with no apology offered. The lack of respect for my time is concerning, and the doctor's unprofessional, and disrespectful behavior is very concerning as well. read more

Unfortunately, this practice is going downhill since Dr. Burger retired and sold it. My husband had Melanoma surgery with this office several years ago (which I had found). Because of that diagnosis, he now goes in to be checked every 3 months. He has had a couple of places scraped or frozen but so far so good. However, in August of 2024, he went in to be checked and had a spot near his eye area scraped. He called a few days later and results were not in. He never heard back so we assumed all was good. In October 2024 he went back in for another check and was given a clean bill. About a week ago, last week of January 2025, he receives a call from a nurse there telling him that the spot they checked in August was basil cell and that he needed to come back in. She told him she tried to call him in September and couldn't reach him. No letter to our home address, no email to his email, no more phone calls trying to reach him, and no message had been left on his phone. Five months passed, and he had gone into the office for an in-person check. Nobody told him he had a problem. They also want him to wait another 10 days before they can see him. This is COMPLETE INCOMPETANCE! It is MEDICAL MALPRACTICE! So now this spot has had 5 months to grow and possibly become something dangerous. I am completely disgusted by this lack of medical follow-up to something that can be so serious, especially for a patient who has already had melanoma. We will be searching for a more competent Dermatologist. read more

Had an overall bad experience. I had a small wart on my right hand that could not be removed with over the counter medication. I decided to visit this office because of its proximity to my home. I worked with one of the PA's (not the doctor of the practice). For each visit, the PA would come into the room and look at the wart for less than 15 seconds. She treated the spot with a liquid cryotherapy. The wart would continue to return over and over again-- causing me to return to the office for countless follow up visits. The PA insisted this was "normal." After about 7 visits, I decided to go to a different office for a second opinion, because the condition was actually worsening. After going to a different doctor, they were in shock over how poor of a job CCDA did with my issue. I got the wart resolved in two visits from a new doctor. On top of the unsatisfactory visits, their billing practice at CCDA is inconsistent. They made a $300+ error on one of my bills and I had to speak to three different office representatives for them to correct the issue. I have not been to this establishment in almost 9 months and they recently sent me a $200 statement from October 2021. If you live in Charles County, do yourself a favor and make a trip to a different dermatologist office. read more

Absolute garbage, the receptionist is a nightmare to work with and she has the worst attitude. They changed my appointment the day before and refused to work with me. They will also try and push their own products on you. Don't ever go here. read more

I have been using Charles County Derm for years and have had a lot of procedures that had no issues.  I usually am super satisfied with the work (especially when they removed cancer from my face and you can't see the scar under my eye).  My most recent procedure was by Dr. Junnan Chen and was horrible.  During the procedure two people poked their heads in the door to check on things (that's never happened before and made me nervous).  She cut an entire cyst out of my back instead of just making a small incision and removing the sac.  She cut a large spot out of my shoulder and there was an internal stitch sticking out that was trimmed when the outer stitches were removed.  My shoulder became infected quickly after that.  I tried to get a wound check and it took days to get scheduled so I went to a regular doc to get antibiotics going. When I got in to see Dr. Chen she said it was infected but did not swab the area to check to see if the antibiotics I was on would take care of the issue.  I had to come back a second time for a wound check as the infection was still there and Dr. Berger ordered a culture.  There were two types of bacteria growing in it but by the time I got the information the wound finally closed.  The scar on my shoulder still aches.  As I said, all my other numerous procedures we well so I will not use Dr. Chen anymore but have not given up on Charles County Derm. read more

Dr. Berger is a straight thief. Unfortunately did not see his reputation after my wife selected him. Son had a cyst on his arm. They told us only required one appt. Cyst was benign had to even call to find that out. Extremely poor job cleaning it out and they wanted us schedule another appt. Initially they said one appt and after they did such a poor job they wanted to schedule another so they could charge us again. read more

This is the second Dermatologist I have visited in the area, I went here because they have light therapy for skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis. I was given Mary Hoke first; she was very short with me, I felt like I wasn't even in the room and then she tells me she 'doesn't have time to explain the creams to me,' pulls a young lady in the office and she's out the door. I wanted to ask not to be charged for that five minute appointment. If it was not for the light therapy I don't think I would have went back, but I'm glad I did. I have been doing the treatment for a month, and all the girls in the office and the assistants always have a smile for you and ask how you are, and the wait is not long at all. I asked if another Doctor could possibly take a peek at my foot while I was in today, since it has been a while with no change, and right away they found me one. I saw Dr. Rockers and he took his time, and made new suggestions for treatment. I was very satisfied. read more

First of all, the front desk staff was beyond fantastic. They were nice, friendly & funny. I was a walk in, which is usually a big pain for a professional office, and they treated me like they had been expecting me all day. I felt very welcome. The nurses were likewise nice, quick to answer questions, and put me at ease. I ended up being treated by PA Maria Ready. She was also nice, very smart, and competently took care of my problem. My problem involved what I would call minor surgery. It wasn't a simple little appointment where she just looked at something and gave me a prescription. I felt like I was in very good hands, and now my issue is resolved and I feel MUCH better. I felt I had a bit of a complex problem. I was considering going to the ER. They made it seem routine and easy. I should have come in earlier! read more

I have been going to the Charles County Dermatology for a long time and would not go anywhere else. The last time I went, I only waited about 5 minutes before they called me in. Almost all the doctors were friendly and explained everything they were doing and why. I did have one bad visit but that was many years ago and I let it go because everyone has a bad day and that was his. My husband has started going there too and he has never had a bad experience. I would recommend them to all my family if they lived around here. Thanks for all your hard work. read more
