STAY AWAY from Charles' Custom Picture Framing!! If I could put zero stars instead of one, I would for the dishonesty!! I sell art, and one of my pieces was advertised as already framed in a two-inch-wide black lacquered frame, but it had scratches and wasn't suitable for my sale. To meet my customer's request to keep the same size and uphold my own standards, I decided to have it reframed. After calling several framers who didn't have the exact size, I finally found Charles' Custom Picture Framing. Charles, the owner, assured me over the phone that he had a two-inch shiny black lacquered frame and could customize it for my piece. When I went to pick it up, the frame looked smaller than two inches, so I asked him to measure it. It turned out to be only 1¾ inches wide, not the two inches I paid for. When I brought this up, he insisted I had seen it beforehand and offered no empathy or solution. I was charged $382 for a two-inch frame, which is a lot of money for a frame that didn't even include glass or plexiglass, and received something smaller than promised. Because of this, I may lose my sale. This experience felt dishonest, unprofessional, and disappointing. I would not recommend Charles' Custom Picture Framing to anyone. read more

To be honest, I'm not sure what's considered "fair prices" for framing, but I dropped off to have 3 photos framed on a Thurs AM, before Easter weekend, and needed it done by Monday, and Charles called me first thing in the AM saying it was ready for pick up. I had originally got one other quote was cheaper, but he was quicker. He was out a guy when I called and still managed to make it work on my right deadline. Thanks for the quick turnaround! We purchased a custom acrylic-on-canvas painting that arrived rolled up in a tube. I'd never had to have a canvas stretched before. Charles recommended a border with a channel and it turned out really great. I felt the price was fair for such a large (48" x 48") piece. He also has a good feel of what frame options go well with your custom items. He ultimately knows well what framing combinations would bring your piece to life. His pricing is fair and he tries to accommodate when you are a routine customer and have bulk orders. He gives the order a personal overlook and you get what you paid for. Charles is amazing! I called in for a last minute day of custom job at 8:30 am that a few stores before said no to and at 8:53 am I was walking out of his store as a very happy new customer. He was really busy but still took the time to make sure I was happy with the project and took such care of it. Heartened by the excellent reviews, I took over a picture to be framed. I have no complaints about the quality of the work, only disappointment that the frame I was shown as a sample was not what I received. And this was my mistake: I was not specific that I wanted matte wood like the sample (I got shiny), and I was not specific about the thickness of the frame, exactly like the sample (I got a thinner frame), I just assumed that the sample was what I would get. Nothing was written down except the dimensions of the entire picture so I had not a leg to stand on here. Do not do what I did. Make sure you specify everything you want and have him write it all down for you. You just might get a great deal. read more
