Yay!!! I'm so glad they have a location in the valley now! I went to an Aaron Brothers to get some work stuff framed because I figured it would be cheap and I wouldn't have to drive out to the west side to have Sherman McNulty frame it for me. What I found out was that it was NOT cheap to get it done at Aaron Brothers (in fact it was more expensive at Aaron Bros than at Sherman McNulty). I rang up Sherman McNulty and they not only could do the job for cheaper but they also mentioned that they had a new location in Sherman Oaks. SCORE! It's the same owners (Melissa & Kim) and they do the same amazing work. If you're looking for custom framing, I highly recommend checking them out. They're the best. read more

Not gonna to bullshit, this place gets 5 stars for a reason! This is my second time using Sherman mcnulty and they've been nothing short of awesome. They worked with me on every step of the framing and matting process. Helped me choose the best frame for the piece and when things were out of my price range showed me how to work with other materials that looked better than what I had even picked. If you ever need help or a consultation get with Stephanie Proano, she'll make sure you're first and foremost happy with your choice and if not work with you to get your prized picture in the frame and matting it always deserved. I highly recommend this place! As an art enthusiast I am someone who has to get things framed quite often. It is a pleasure (and a necessity) to find a place that can do custom framing not only flawlessly but with such a great attitude as well. My first time in, the gentleman that helped me was also the owner, and he definitely knew his stuff. He spent over an hour with me trying out different styles and colors until I was completely happy with the scheme we settled on. Not only did he setup tons and tons of styles for me to see (and give me great artistic guidance), he did so happily without any sign of frustration. You can tell this is a guy who truly loves what he is going. It was so great to go to a place that puts the type of care and consideration into framing pieces that are special to their owners. Though their work is always excellent, they also have a LIFETIME warranty policy which lets you bring in your stuff for repair any time afterwards. Trustworthy crew with excellent craftsmanship. Fine print collectors beware! I just checked out Sherman McNulty in downtown LA because its close to where I live. I brought 5 fine art prints for quotes, and I left after just getting my first print priced. The only print I asked for pricing was expensive and from a famous artist, and I told the salesperson the price. I was surprised she did not handle the print with gloves, especially after telling her how much the print cost. Second, the salesperson did not secure the print after it was unwrapped from the tissue paper with some sort of weight. The frame store in downtown is housed in an old warehouse with a slide up door garage hanger that was completely open, and I was kind of nervous that wind coming in through the open hanger door could possibly blow my print from the table. So I made sure I was nearby the print the entire time. Finally, the salesperson helping me told me she would honor both the Yelp discounts posted for new customers, which is one of the reasons why I decided to check this place out, along with the good reviews I've seen on Yelp. The frame for the first print, with museum quality Plexiglass was about $940 after asking her manager to compute the price on a computer, which is about the same price or more I've paid for several similar frames with almost the same sized print at other framers I've used in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and New York. I mentioned there was a discrepancy with pricing because it did not take into account one of the discounts on Yelp, and after checking with her manager, she mentioned they can only apply one Yelp discount, even though it seemed she was accustomed to honor both discounts to other new customers in the past. I think this is bad policy to go back on your word on discounts/pricing on expensive frames, especially knowing that I had 4 other fine art prints I was willing to have them frame. I wanted to support a local business in my area, which is the main reason why I was willing to give this place a chance. However, I highly recommend people with expensive, fine art prints use another place for framing for the all the reasons stated above. Note I've never complained and rarely posted anything on Yelp, but I felt it was important to share my experience to other fine art print collectors or at least influence this business' practices in handling and dealing with fine art prints and potential customers. I gave this review 2 stars instead of 1 star because aside from the issues stated above, the salesperson seemed very helpful and genuinely interested in trying to find me a frame to match my print. This review is for only fine art print framing, and I think people looking to frame much less expensive items and memorabilia will find this business adequate. read more

For my first framing experience I used the yelp coupon/gift card. The lady working there on a Sunday was very helpful and very nice. I appreciated the feedback and the help in picking the wood and the borders. But then working out the price I realized this was not going to be cheap. I settled on a simple black frame. When I finally got my piece a few weeks later, it was nice, but not $160 nice. I could put a picture of a frame from IKEA for #29.99 and one from McNulty for $160, I think it would be hard to tell the difference on a wall. I wish there was better pricing signage in the store. read more

Needed this big art print to hang above my couch framed by these guys. I have a really busy printed couch so needed something that would balance the couch, but not be boring black or white. I came into this place to get the picture of my newborn professionally framed. The staff welcomed me and were very informative and friendly. They had a variety of different frames to choose from. They helped me choose a great frame for my newborn's photo and it was within my budget. For the quality of the frame it was inexpensive and I am satisfied with my purchase.
