Halftime show, Mystics vs. Dream WNBA Teams
    Esther Z.

The old YELP reviews are still valid. The seats are uncomfortable, little knee room. It's like coach seats in an airplane. The lines to buy a snack unless you were a season ticket holder is still long too. We were here for the WNAB Mystics vs Sparks game. Luckily, we are season ticket holders and the Mystics set up an area, the Champions Clubs, for us to buy beer and snacks. However, we couldn't take the beer to our seat. You had to drink the beer in that club room. We're just glad this won't be the Mystics permanent new home arena. That is a temporary arrangement lasting through the playoffs this season. OBTW: The Mystics won.

This is a review on the Center as a music venue. My first Dylan concert, 11/13/10. I like the easy access to Foggy Bottom Metro, about two blocks. The Center is the home of the George Washington University Colonels basketball team. It seats about 5,000 for hoops and about the same for a concert. For the concert, the stage was set at one end of the arena and seats to the left and right and straight ahead. The acoustics were exceptional as were the sight lines. It didn't feel like you were in a huge arena, it had more of an initiate feeling. The stage was quite big covering nearly the entire far end of the court. Back lighting on a white sheet acted as projector screen and made for exceptional effects. I suspect there were 1,000 or so standing room in front of the stage. Clearly from there you have the unique advantage of closer sight lines and near contact with the band. Security was tight as you would expect, everything short of metal scanners and pat downs. Several times Event Staff made announcements that no cameras allowed and individuals using their iphones as cameras or recorders would be confiscated. That never happened in spite of multiple flashes during the show and cell phones lit up like blazing lighters.

    Washington Kastles new stadium!

I visited the Smith Center for the first time the other night for the Washington Kastles season opener in their new stadium. Pros-there's no bad view really, arena is small enough that everyone gets a decent vantage of the play. Clean bathrooms. Cons-seats are the smallest and tightest I've ever experienced, it's like they're made for children. Knees were at a 45 degree angle and hips were def smashed. Hopefully that's not a gimmick to make you purchase seats in the more expensive free standing folding chair section. The A/C was also on freeze your ass off mode. It was pretty miserable, the crowd was wrapped in the free T-shirts given out for the opener lol. I'd go back if I get my coins together to buy a bigger seat and I'd probably dress a lot more warmly.

A spur of the moment trip to see the Nationals in DC was an easy audible with close proximity to the Metro and a knowledgeable, hardworking staff to smooth all the edges. One note. If you look for tickets on-line, the Nats will force you to create an account with MLB.com -- a task which is somewhat involved since I have no interest in buying the team and only want two tix. As the Nats run a cash-free organization, the easiest thing to do is go to their ticket office directly outside the center field gate and they'll text you two tix without the MLB nonsense. Being an avid ticket stub collector, I should deduct a star but what the hell, the evening was a blast. A beautiful ballpark and a great time. Five easy stars.

I am an O's fan so this rivalry means something to me. I also really enjoyed the Nats giveaway that day. A hot dog hat. Normally I am underwhelmed by the Nats giveaways even as a baseball fan but this was the only one I really felt excited about. I sat in Club Level and I was a little shocked that no one in staff at the park was checking peoples tickets. They were letting anyone go up to club level which was an issue for several reasons. Problem #1: It was hot dog day and the food was $5 so the lines were absurdly long and there were people from the lower and upper levels going to CLUB LEVEL to get concessions. At Camden Yards the staff actually checks your tickets to seeing you're supposed to be at Club Level. That's what makes club level great the lines are smaller but the cost is that you don't get the specialty food options like on the lower level. The only person checking tickets at club level were the guys at the door if you were supposed to be in like Sections 206-210 Problem 2: Because no one was checking club level when entering there was issues with people sitting in my seat. Where was the usher in my section??? Idk he wasn't there and some jerk took my seat saying since I was wearing an O's jersey I didn't deserve that seat. I paid good money to sit in club level and not being able to sit in my seat was ridiculous. Additionally I was harassed by several Nats fans during my time at the park. To a point one of them stole my free giveaway hat because "you're not even a fan". I paid for the ticket and I waited ALMOST AN HOUR at the gate being one of the first people to enter the ballpark and to get my hat just taken from me was a slap in the face. I already filled out the survey with Nationals Park and requested that a staffer call me and I hope they do because of all the times I've been to Nats Park in my life I've never felt as disrespected as I did on my most recent visit.

It's one of the classic stadiums of the USA, and I hope that they are able to keep it open and renovate it and make it useful. Even though it won't have the NFL playing in it anytime soon, I hope that somebody big will play it in future. Richard covered most of what happened here, it was a legend. I enjoy being in the crowd to watch a live game rather than sit at home and watch it on television. When I had the chance to go to a game, I made sure to take that offer up. Plus, I got to explore more of the city this way. A city that I have lived in for a few years and still have yet to discover a majority of it. Making your way here was fantastic while using the Metro. Getting in here was a breeze too. But, if I may, use any other entrance than Entrance A. The other entrances are way easier to get into and virtually no lines. Getting to your seats here are really easy as well, just follow the signs and you will be there quite fast. However, there are a lot of people that cannot decipher where the sections are. I had a few people try to say I was in their seat when I was not. They were the next section over. The one thing I would have liked to have known was that there was a second level right near my section instead of having to climb those steep steps. But the view, my god the view at this place is amazing. Seeing the Washington Monument over the jumbo screen was amazing. I do have to say, there is definitely not a bad seat in this stadium. Perfect view of the field and, if you are like me, a great place to disassociate. I caught myself staring off into the DC sky a lot while here. That view also lends to how a goal celebration happens here. Over the scoreboard there will be fireworks that shoot out in a 'W' formation with the DC skyline behind it. And when there is a goal, this place comes more alive than it already is. I really enjoyed myself here while watching the game. September 21st 2025…read more This place is so disorganized and disappointing. My father called ahead of time since him and I are both disabled (we both have handicap placards and my father has a permanent disabled license plate) He finally got ahold of someone and they said if we want handicap parking up close get the gold parking pass. I paid 200 dollars for parking. Yes, 200. Parking up close is VERY important to me.. Nobody was helpful in guiding us to the lot we paid 200 dollars for. Also, they told us when we got there there's no handicap places, we just have to go and sit on a blue bench and call a number for a golf cart to pick us up. I called the number 3 times and somebody did answer. They were nice but not helpful. We ended up having to give up and walk. No workers were helpful, and when we would try to flag down other workers on golf carts they would not stop for us. They did not even look at us The stadium is very outdated. It looks extremely industrial and not welcoming Very crowded Lines were long There definitely was not enough bathrooms or food areas to keep up with all the people it can hold However, I did enjoy the seats we had. I liked the view. And the field looks great. I will say, the bathrooms for the MOST part were clean for over 50 thousand people being there. I did see a toilet overflowing onto the ground though. But workers were taking care of it This stadium needs a huge update. Do not waste 200 on up close parking. It wasn't even that up close and nobody came and picked us up despite us calling and waiting for 43 minutes (the game had already started while we were waiting) Again, I do have to hand it to the woman on the phone who kept answering. It wasn't her fault and at least she answered. So, if you are disabled and can't walk far, plan accordingly Every stadium is different So always check their bag rules. I did have to use a small clear bag Sadly, this stadium is probably one of the worst I've been to P.S- if you google worst NFL stadiums, this one comes up lol. So I'm not the only one complaining

Who thought this through? You'll definitely have to get there early due to that 2-lane, tight squeeze through the neighborhood. I'm sure the people who actually live there hate game-day as it makes it harder for them to get home. That's crazy. BUT, after the game, on my way home, I turned right (instead of left to follow everybody else and return the way I came) and found an easier route. It was actually a route I know as my friends live by the big chair and I could easily hop onto 295 to get home. But I digress. The Arena itself is pretty nice. It looks like the area is being renovated a bit. I'm not sure exactly where in DC it is, but there are several old buildings in the area that had to be in use at some point in time. It didn't take too long to get in and our seats were right up front. The atmosphere for Pride night was festive. I was easily able to grab some food & drink and head to my seat with no problem. It is a smaller venue, but it felt cozy. I had a good time. After the game you can go across the street to an area which holds a few eateries and there's one big indoor area with a bar. If you park in the garage, be prepared to wait about 20 minutes before there's any movement so you can get out. I was nervous I'd be sitting there LONGER, but once we started moving, we got out quickly. If you get there EARLY you can probably park on the street which will facilitate your exit.

DC United is tied with the LA Galaxy for the most Supporters' Shields won (4 each; most seasons with best regular season record). They've also won three US Open Cups (second-most in the league) and are the only MLS team to have won either the CONCACAF Champions League and the Copa Interamericana championship. So, when it comes to Major League Soccer, this is what you call a historically elite team. DC United was one of the original 10 teams to begin MLS play in the league's inaugural season in 1996. They had success right out the gate, winning the MLS Cup in 1996, 1997, and 1999. The team carried that success into the 2000s, but aside from their 2013 US Open Cup win (where they were underdogs), they haven't won anything of consequence since. A couple of the most well-known players and coaches from DC United include Bolivian forward Jaime Moreno and American midfielder and coach Ben Olsen. Moreno and Olsen were teammates on the 1999 and 2004 MLS Cup championship teams. Moreno has gone on to set club records in many statistical categories including most appearances (427) and goals scored (162). No other DC United player has come close. The season immediately after his last as a player (2009), Olsen took the reins as head coach in 2010 after the firing of Curt Onalfo. Olsen went on to coach DC United for an entire decade (2010-2020), by far the longest tenure of any club coach. For the first 22 seasons, DC United played in the old RFK Stadium (opened 1961) which was used for a variety of sporting events including Washington Redskins (NFL), Washington Nationals (MLB), and Military Bowl (NCAA Division I FBS) games. The team has played at Audi Field since its opening in 2018. Audi Field, which was built specifically for DC United, is located about 10-15 minutes (5-6 miles) away from the old stadium, down the Anacostia River. In its final years as home to DC United, RFK was configured to seat 20,000 for MLS games, same as Audi Field.
