There is also a playground that was being remodeled when I last went there on Saturday. When i went during the summer there was always kids and their parents playing on the playground. There is also a soccer field and a baseball diamond and I know some kids have their soccer practices here for recreational leagues. Even though this park is really small, it is a great place to go walking or jogging. It is really popular for this, especially in the early evenings. The trail also feeds into the neighborhood behind the park in case you want to take an extended walk.

I was in the area at a nearby library, and I brought my grandkids to this park. It was a very good…read moresize park with a walking trail around it. I believe there was also sporting fields that I wasn't paying that close of attention to it since my primary reason for going was the playground. The playground had toddler all the way to older kids play equipment. It was all newer and well-maintained and soft under footing material. The two-year-old grandchild enjoyed it and my six-year-old grandchild also enjoyed it. There was a sitting area that had a cover over it for shade. Most of the play area is in the sun, but the day that we went it was often on cloudy and windy so it was tolerable. It was not busy for a summer day. But around 4 PM two summer camps showed up so everyone left because that would've been a lot of kids on the playground.

A little PSA: the walking trail goes right by a small fishing pond and we just paid $1,200 to pull a fishing hook out of our dog's intenstines. Be super careful with your animals near there. Below you'll see photos of the pond. Notice that the nearest trash can is actually in a picnic shelter up the hill. There really should be a place to dispose of fishing line near the sign postings so that this has a lower chance of dropping on the trail and letting animals eat it.

Now my 17 month old can go up on her own and down a little kid slide, when in the past the other playground wasn't as safe for her. It also boasts some swings a big kid slide and more. What makes this place even better is that it also has restrooms. I think they are still renovating those, but they will presumably be open soon. In addition there is a tennis court, covered picnic area, and large grassy field that would be great for playing ball. All in all this a really good park for being on the smaller side and nestled into a neighborhood setting.

So, one…read moreSaturday after dance class we made the trek (and it is a bit more of a trek from OP than I was expecting!) out to Wilder Bluff Park, and I have to say, this is a pretty great spot to bring the kids. I got the feeling that it's still a bit of a hidden gem, probably because it's in a bit of an out of the way location, because there weren't a ton of cars, and while there were plenty of kids playing, it didn't feel crowded like other parks do on a nice Saturday morning in June. This park boasts a ton of great amenities for kids, and our kids really enjoyed the tree houses that they could climb through, which entertained them for about an hour. There is also a really cool splash playground adjacent to it, which had we known about in advance we may have brought some swim gear so the girls could really enjoy it. The park itself I think is much bigger than just the playground area, as I saw some trails nearby that might would have been fun to explore had we been there longer, or with kids that were eager to walk rather than climb and run! I'll close by adding that this park is new-ish and super well maintained. We used the restrooms and they are really clean for a park. Overall, this park is a gem for the folks that live right around it. I'm sure we'll return on another nice weekend morning when we want a change of pace.

Afterwards, they tried out all the neat equipment and they especially liked the long rope bridge and sliding down the slide. The park also has a trail and is kept up well and a large parking lot. The bathrooms were clean and overall very nice park. The only thing is I wish there was a little bit more shaded seating for the parents to watch the children during the splash park play.

I took a walk on the outside walking path - one loop is not quite a mile. Kids from all ages seem to enjoy this park. Ample parking on the surface lot. This park is accessible for children and people of all abilities. Benches are strategically placed all around the park so you can take a rest. Forget your ball? The basketball court has random balls beside the court. It is well kept and an asset to the community.

Bennett Park offers a quaint spot to hang out with the kids or get away for some much needed…read moreprivacy. Basically, Bennett is a square, its boundaries formed by trees on all four sides. It creates this little tucked away spot that feels rather intimate and protective. BP is using the coolest thing for landscaping ever-recycled rubber tread from tries. Colored in a rusty brown, I almost thought they were some type of wood chips until they gave way as I stepped on creating a very spongy walking experience. Do try. It's a great use of recycling-replacing the chance of splinters from wood and the reuse of materials. BP is a small park but has a pretty rockin' jungle gym along with a merry-go-round, basketball goal and miniature baseball/soccer field. I did get drunk though. No, alcohol isn't allowed in these places but it might as well have been after my stint on this other weird piece of equipment I can only describe as a one-man merry-go-round. I stood up straight while being spun around and completely lost all sense of direction and clear vision. BP should be on your list for a small getaway simply because of its quaint appeal and private ambiance.
