Totally deceitful.... Our community came together and raised money to benefit our child who is medically fragile and in need of special lifelong medical and caregiving. One volunteer who represents schwab helped guide us set up a special needs trust so that this money can earn interest for our child's benefit. As we set the account up, Schwab offered us a debit card for the easy of using funds as needed. After many months of caring for our child we noticed Schwab was "borrowing us" the money and charging us interest. A lot of interest!!!! When we realized this we called and they told us we set the account that way. Why wouldn't they explain this to us. Why would we "borrow" money that is out there for the child's benefit. When we brought it to their attention they said, nothing they can do. We spoke to many people who never called back. Then wrote a letter, no resolution. read more

Never worked with such an inefficient company in my life! Their website stinks, hard to navigate and harder to make a trade. The worse part is now I have found out I will not get my 1099 tax form until at least the middle of March, they "may" send it out the last week of February. I can't get it on line, no way to get my 1099 until they send it out, apparently not until they feel like sending them out. Time to take my money and put it in a decent company. read more

This place is a joke. My father left me some monies in Dec. here we are 2 months later and Scwab will not release/ roll over these monies. Tons of paper work that all has to be notarized. Everytime you think you are done there is one more page and one more signature....notarized, of course. Staff help is nonexistent and I've only asked for help about 10 times. Hard pass on this company. Fidelity makes this all too easy and they are incredibly helpful. Thumbs down Schwab.....get your stuff together and remember who's money you are dealing with. read more

Brandon Stoker is the "VP, Sr Financial Consultant" at Charles Schwab in Phoenix, Arizona. If this guy represents what Charles Schwab considers a Sr Financial Consultant I would hate to see how an entry level consultant behaves. I went in last week to start a of couple investment accounts with a substantial amount. I sat down with Brandon Stoker in his office and he opened the accounts. He gave me the ACH info so that I could get money into the account. The ach he provided me would not work. It was impossible to ach money to the accounts or even send a wire. Two other individuals that owed me money also tried to unsuccessfully ach to my new account at Schwab but were unable to. I sent an email to Brandon Stoker, my account financial consultant and the only person I had been dealing with. Brandon's initial response was that I was that it was too soon and the account needed 24 hours. After waiting several days and still being unable to wire or ach funds, I emailed Brandon. Brandon Stoker sent me to his co-worker Will. Neither of them could figure out how to ach to my account either. Instead of taking care of the customer and being my contact person and account representative, Brandon Stoker made me jump through hoops. He referred me to his partner Will, then as a team they couldn't figure it out. So what did the geniuses do? They give me an 800 number to a call center so I can work it out myself. To put icing on the cake, they also told me that the call center I was calling couldn't figure it out when they tried earlier. As I had opened the account with a few small checks, I had to physically go to the branch to get the money I put in because the system wouldn't allow me to get the money out by wire or ach. I show up at the branch and am helped by a nasty airhead named Courtney A McCanndless. Courtney tells me that they don't have cash or checks at Charles Schwab. To make matters worse, they can't ACH to my account. They will have to wire which takes up to 3 days. Then for another part they will send me a check in 3 days. These incompetent imbeciles that have 3 total IQ points wasted hours of my time. I am taking my money to JP Morgan today at 4pm (minus the money that the fools at Schwab are still holding). Under NO circumstances would I ever deal with Charles Schwab and especially Brandon Stoker or the genius teller Courtney A McCandless. Charles Schwab's approach is to not take care of the customer. The approach is to push you off on to someone else and eventually end up at a call center. read more

After 3 decades of personal and business accounts with Charles Schwab, this Phoenix branch made a colossal error, including losing track of our pensions funds for a year, and opening the wrong account. After hours on the phone with our CPA ($250/hour) and Charles Schwab officials in different locales, one of them did a 'deep dive' to find our funds. Yes, they found the money, but in the WRONG type of account. They fixed the error after much frustration. CS said they would compensate us... get this: $100 ... Yes, folks, that is the value CS puts on a customer's time wasted due to THEIR error. Trust me, this isn't over. $100 doesn't even begin to pay my CPA. I gave CS 2 (not 1) stars because Tom McDonnell in the Chandler office did get back to us right away when we called yesterday. read more

I'm getting my IRA out of this place. It was in tdameritrade for 15 years and schwab took over. 2 days ago I called them to ask a generic question not even about my account. I hadn't even tried to log into my account.. Apparently my phone # kicks in and they wanted to 'verify' me. I said NO...I just have a quick generic question. The guy told me, 'sorry if you don't let us verify you, then I will have to lock down your account.' So he locked it down and today I tried to get it unlocked over the phone. They asked questions about the year of the car I owned 30 years ago! He put me on hold and after about 20 minutes I heard a click and I was transferred to someone locally. The previous guy said he would call me back if we got disconnected. HE DIDN"T. I just hung up after telling the local that I wasn't going to go through the verification again. So now I have to drive 18 miles to go verify myself in person. Too much. I want to be safe too but I WILL NEVER call a brokerage again to ask a generic question. You can't call from a different phone because they wont' wait on you. And I don't have a 2nd number anyway. VERY frustrating. read more

I have always experienced support staff that are willing to go the extra mile, to both understand my need, and to insure that the concern is resolved/I find the information I need. My latest call to the Phoenix Operations Center (retirement services) was in line with past experience. Keep up the high standard of service delivery. I have been at Schwab for almost 10 years. I few months ago I would have given them a 4 or 5 star review. But my experience over the last few months has changed that for sure and if I could I'd give them a 1/2 star. First let me start by saying I'm recently physically disabled after I was in a motorcycle accident where a car hit me at almost 50mph and threw me 20ft into pavement. Before the accident I had my own business training pro and college athletes. The accident did some serious damage I lost part of my foot and I'm unable still to wear a shoe and it's difficult for me to get around. So I began trading since it was right there and already set up from before the accident. I seemed to do it well enough and it had been a way that I found to support myself and bring in an income for the last couple of years. It's really the only thing I'm able to do without creating some at home business that I have not even looked into since my focus has been surviving and rehabilitation and continued resulting illnesses. This worked and given my situation it's really the only thing that does or did up until the end of September when the Streetsmart Edge platform froze on me and I was unable to enter my sell order. I was having a great day and was up a pretty good amount of money and was ready to sell to lock in my profits. I'm clicking on the screen and nothing. I check my computer it's working fine but the application is not responding. I force quit it and go and restart the application and by the time it comes back up not only is the profit I was going to make gone but I'm down a lot of money (to me anyway)as well. I'm very upset say the least and to add insult to injury waited 32 minutes on hold before hanging up. I waited to see what would happen and nothing did it pretty locked in at a price and stayed there the rest of the day. I tried Schwab one more time and was on hold forever, again. I didn't really know what to do. Being on hold for another half hour was making things worse. The problem was I had used Margin to buy some of the stock. I had never had a real issue with using it and I traded very simply and relatively conservatively. I was supposed to sell out of a certain percentage of it by end of day but I didn't want to lose the money from it and figured it was their platform not working, they could check the records with the tech department to see I was telling the truth and it would be straightened out and all would be fine. That was based on the trust I had in the company prior to that day. I couldn't even begin to imagine thinking that way after experiencing the last few months of hell mostly due to a Client Services "Advocate". She was no advocate for anyone other than the Charles Schwab company. I had written an email to 2 executives at Schwab and they had responded by having her contact me a day after I had sent the email. I have dealt with Client Advocacy before and it was a completely different experience. The exact opposite of my experience than with her. The next day I waited anxiously and hoped for the stock price to go back up. I hadn't spoken with Schwab yet. I wasn't that worried because I had 98% of the money I owed for the Margin in umarginable stock in my account to pay for it if they required me to. Apparently, according to this Client "Advocate" or how I think of her as the "Lead Vest" unmarginable stock has no value.(??? )It's not good enough, apparently. So, 20 minutes before the close of the market the stock was liquidated at a huge loss. Even without adding it to the loss I had from not being able to sell it, it was significant to me. It basically, put me out of business and a way to earn a living. I had no other options and they did not care. Surely, they would see that none of this should have happened and make it right. Right? Why did they liquidate it? How come nobody spoke to me before doing that? I figured they probably didn't realize the stock was in my account because 2x before they had missed it and corrected the problem. Liquidating someone's account or part of their account to me is the "Nuke em from Orbit" solution. It's what you do when you have no other options to take. I guess they had run out of options and I've run out of space so I'll finish up with saying It hasn't been resolved. Well, let me correct that with to me it hasn't been resolved but according to "Lead Vest" Schwab is not going to do a thing. She hadn't returned any phone call of mine for over 2 months and in the last conversation where she pronounced her judgment she alluded to me having a gambling problem, being mentally unstable because I was still pursuing this, as well as a few very choice things that I will not repeat on here. It was the most twisted experience I've ever had with another individual in a business type situation and the most insulting. My family is being discriminated against by Schwab. My deceased mother was a low income senior and Schwab is holding on to what little money she had and not distributing to her rightful heirs. We have provided the death certificate, small estate affidavit, every bit of paperwork to prove where she lived and died. Every conceivable piece of paper their incompetent staff at the estate distribution department has requested I have provided. No one responds timely. I've been told they are too busy and understaffed to follow up. I have been told my paperwork is not enough to prove my siblings and I are the rightful beneficiaries. By not accepting the paperwork from our attorney we are being called liars, frauds and cheats. We are not sure we will ever be able to receive our dead mother's money from these scheisters. I called in to point out an error they had made on my account and the customer service guy (Kirk) had the gall to deny they had made an error and in fact implied that I was less than honest because I had not discovered THEIR ERROR sooner.
