They loaned us $52,000 dollars, then would not let us have our money. My wife and I opened a joint account and applied for a home equity loan for $52k for some large purchases that we needed to make. We had the cash, but decided to do the loan so as to keep the cash handy for emergencies. To be clear, the terms were good. 20 years, 7.5% APR (in this banking environment) and only $177 in fees. So technically the loan was for %52,177 where we received $52,000. We had a basic savings account. The first problem was when I learned that I could not transfer to an external account more than $2k in any 24 hour period, and no more than $3k over 30 days. To make matters worse, we could only transfer to external accounts that were also joint accounts with both my name and my wife names. This Arizona Financial Credit union account was our only joint account. I was told that I could initiate a wire transfer, for a fee of course, or visit a branch and get a cashier's check for funds beyond $2000 should I wanted to them to an external account. This is the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six. Why should I have to bank like it's 1968? I have an account with Alliant Credit Union. I'm allowed to move up to $25k to an external account within any 24 hour period with no limits beyond that. That applies to online transfers or wire transfers. So after accruing about $213 in interest without even reaching the first payment due date, I cut our losses. I paid off the loan and closed the savings account. The only satisfaction I have from this sorry affair is knowing that the loan cost them more than it did me due paying it off so soon. read more

I am a member of Arizona Financial Credit Union and recently had a disappointing experience with one of their phone representatives. During the call, I requested to speak with a supervisor. In response, the representative stated, "That would be amazing," in what I perceived to be a sarcastic and unprofessional tone. As a customer, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect, even when escalating a concern. I'm hopeful management will review the call and address the issue appropriately. Now they want me to pay $5,000 that was charged on my credit card. They've ruined my credit going from 785 down to 575 and all other credit cards I have now have dropped my limits to right above what I already owe. I wish I would have checked here before opening an account here. I refinanced my car loan to a lower rate from another bank. They didn't tell me I needed to have a checking account opened with them to pay my loan. I'd opened a savings account and tried to transfer funds from my other account and it wouldn't allow external accounts to be connected for transfers , also doesn't allow for transfers from savings accounts to pay the auto loan. I ended up being forced to open a checking account with them even though I've got 3 checking accounts outside there just so I could make my car payment. I needed a debit card because they're only open the times I'm working. Got my card, activated it but there was no way to set the pin. I called the service line and after giving them the last four of my social, my address, my driver's license, the year make and model of my vehicle, my last transaction amount, and my name, they said they couldn't verify it was me. My account has only been open a month. Because of that, I can't even deposit checks through the app to pay my car payment! I'll likely be refinancing with a different credit union and closing my account after i verify what the charges are for paying the loan off early. read more

We have been members of AZ Financial for over 40 years and have trusted them with our money and credit through multiple accounts. In late December 2025, AZ Financials' fraud department contacted us about suspected fraud on two accounts--one on ours and one on our child's. There were two pending transactions: one for $49.99 and another for $1,000.00, the larger charge originating from out of state. We were contacted by AZ Financial both by text and phone while the transactions were pending, and we confirmed immediately that both transactions were fraudulent. Since AZ Financial had already identified the fraud and contacted us before the charges posted, we assumed the transactions would be stopped from going through. They were not. AZ Financial allowed both charges to go through and then told us we had to file disputes in order for them to investigate. Seriously. They identified the fraud, contacted us before the charges posted, did nothing to stop them, and now we are forced to fight to get our money back When I contacted the Board of Directors, an employee explained that AZ Financials' fraud department does not stop fraudulent transactions--it only alerts members, and then the member must file a claim and wait for an investigation. In other words, they can identify fraud in advance, warn you about it, and still let your money be taken. To make matters worse, for the $49.99 charge we were told that because we had done business with the vendor over a year ago, it "might not be fraud." For the $1,000 charge--our rent money--we were told after 30 days that a dispute would finally be filed, with no provisional credit, and a process that could take up to 120 days, with no guarantee of recovery. Even though they had previously identified this as fraud and confirmed it was fraud. Something is seriously and procedurally wrong with AZ Financials' fraud process. IF they are identifying the fraud before it hits a members account, it should be rejected/returned immediately. After 40 years as members, this experience has completely shaken our trust. read more

Get taken to a desk where the guy asked tell me more what you are looking for...explained the situation and was told we will only know if we run your credit...which I understand...but didn't hand me any info...just rattled off some stuff...as he secretly types behind a monitor NOT explaining what he was doing...it was like a BIG secret about MY stuff...as I tried to ask questions. The next thing you know is we will get back to you most likely within 24-hours. Next day voicemail left...returned call...put through to his line which he answered...and then he asked did I already talk with you...NO! We tried twice to extend our existing HELOC, only to have two separate and incompetent employees tell us we have great credit scores, 842 and 814; a DTI of 6%, and our loan value was less than 60% of the home's value. The national average for banks to approve loans is 36% or less, yet we were DENIED the loan. The first lady denied our request, and told us we needed to make over $50,400, which we make over 2x that. The second lady, a supervisor, buffaloed us the whole time. Everything looks great, there are no issues, blah blah... Only for us to receive a denial letter stating we had credit debt that was too high. Are you kidding me? 6% debt, and we own the house, WTF? Time to leave this crazy town. i am a new costumer of AZ federal of about a year now. My boyfriend needed to open a new bank account so I had suggested for him to bank here as well. He went into the hayden location to open his account. he had provided his social and accidentally given ONE number incorrectly. instead of saying anything or asking him to take another look or correct his mistake, this branch called the police on him. My boyfriend is an African American man. just trying to open a bank account, and gets greeted with 5 cops. I know they have it because It came into my account (obviously by mistake) on a few Saturdays. And their overdraft system just loves to hit you. We have our car loan through Arizona Financial and at first they sent us a coupon book to pay via mail. We did this for three years and always paid over. They shared they no longer send coupon books and we have to pay online. We tried to create an account and pay through express pay. They found our account but it wouldn't take our bank information even after four attempts. We tried to connect our bank account a different way and the website just gave us an error message. We called and they shared it was a network issue. So my husband called back and attempted to pay over the phone. They said he had to go into the bank to verify his information. We called back five minutes later and spoke with someone else who after ten minutes and after finding our account shared they can't take the payment after hours. Seriously? We don't not bank with them and will never ever advocate for anyone to use their services. We are trying to pay our car payment! We asked for tech help but they don't send us an email to reset our password and we told them this. Don't use any of their services ever! I called them over 30 days to inform them I was in Texas and H.E.B is a grocery store. I don't know if I will ever bank here again. I've had a car loan that is 1 payment away from being paid off. Because of inflation I tried to negotiate the last payment off. Mind you this is a bank & they make a lot of money just on interest through loans & credit cards. I thought I would be doing business with someone in the bank, that was a no. The lady that was at the bank said she would have to call and she was quickly in the middle. I spoke with this woman who was rude & condescending. I was asked why I wanted AZFCU to write off the rest of the loan which is none of their business. Then I mentioned taking my business elsewhere & was asked if that meant I was going to default on the loan & if I defaulted they would repo my car. I asked for a mgr to call me & was called by the director of collections who started defending this type of behavior. Then I asked to have someone from their HR dept call me because I wanted to file a formal complaint. I was not the nicest. These are the most unprofessional people to deal with. Unless this is the lowest interest rate you can find I'd go elsewhere, which might be a good idea. I also tried to get a home loan which I couldn't even get enough to begin to look. Then even though the guy was nice he tried to get me to look at a Freddy Mac loan to get more money down which came at a price of a higher interest rate. Because interest rates are already high I would really be over paying on a loan. My advice is just don't do business with this bank unless you have to, just terrible service all around. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. 2 days ago I cashed in because I hadn't received my new card, due to my current card expiring this month. There jerk I spoke to said he would send it out and it would be the exact same card number, just different expiration date. Made sense. I went to use my current card and it wouldn't work. Called the bank and was told my card was locked and a new card, with a whole new number was being issued. I was now, two weeks away from Christmas, unable access to my own money. Extremely sick today, and needed to have stuff delivered, to help me get better, since I can't walk to the door without falling out vomiting, let alone drive, and was told that they could NOT unlock the card that wasn't supposed to be locked, but would rush me a new card overnight. Was told that they could get it here in either 7-10 business days or rush it and it would be here in 2-3 business days. Meanwhile I can't get things I need to feel better, but groceries, or Christmas gifts. Loyal customer for 10 years and this is how I'm treated. Looks like it's time to find a new bank. My son has been traveling internationally and I received a letter from the AZ Financial credit Union to say his account was $475 over drawn. I contacted my son who tried to call internationally to the customer service to see what was going on, but spent 30 minutes on hold and a phone charge of $63. I then received another notice threatening collections and legal action as the account was now 715 overdrawn. My son provided me his login and password to his account, but prior to that I had contacted their AZ financial credit Union customer service line to find out anything of what was going on, as my son was not able to use his data connection intentionally. I asked about overdraft fees and NSF fees and was told that NSF fees are only charged on checks that bounce or on scheduled payments that have insufficient funds in the account. I know my son uses his debit card and Venmo for most transactions. On opening his account I saw that there were a number of transactions tied to his Venmo account that appeared to be fraudulent transactions and were denied. However, AZ Financial Credit Union charged him eighteen NSF fees of $35 each which resulted in the negative impact of $750 on his account, which made him overdrawn. Understanding it's fraud and Venmo closed his account down...thank god, I don't thing that AZ Financial Credit Union should have charged any NSF fees regardless of the fraud and should have just locked his account down which would have been a better action to take. I contacted the Financial Trade Commission, AZ Regulatory dept and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau of the U.S. government and they confirmed that these type of transactions should not be subject to NSF fees as it's a debit card transaction ! They asked me to file a complaint, but I would rather have a conversation first with AZ Financial Credit Union to get an understanding of why this was handled this way? I'm hoping when he returns to get this sorted out and the NSF fees reversed....Very concerning around how this was handled read more

To begin. We really enjoyed banking with Horizon Community Bank here in Lake Havasu City AZ. They had several branches in communities in Arizona. and provided excellent customer service.They we're recently acquired by Arizona Financial Credit Union. I believe the official transition took place in March of this year. It was not a smooth transition by any means. They had initial system conversion issues that needed to be sorted out. Our biggest concern is that if you call the new telephone number for assistance, that is located in Phoenix AZ and not our local branch, you cannot reach the local branch until you are placed on hold for 15-30 minutes or as, to receive a call back.Today there were 11 people in line at our local branch and only one teller working. The customer service is lacking and you cannot reach your local branch by telephone. The hold time is not an anomaly, it happens anytime you call in. It is not the same bank by any means. read more

My husband and I were trying to assist my daughter with purchase of a home. we had plenty of funds to put down. The loan person was incompetent and no follow thru. Maybe it was because she is purchasing the home as a single female -- her own investment that they are extra neurotic and more screening that a typical man buying a home. Discrimination against females is very much alive. Papers were not sent to title, endless requests for documents and employment verification up until the Very last minute (15 minutes before) before signing title papers.
