Do NOT go here. I never leave reviews but have felt so inclined to save others from this place. This practice is more concerned about making money than about patient experience. I was a new obgyn patient - scared and inexperienced. Trying to ask questions about what to expect. My first appt felt so rushed & the doctor walked out of the door & said "who's next". I also had questions about the billing and concerns with being charged so much for my first appt despite having insurance- Kim & Liz (in billing) were both very dry/rude in their responses when i asked for more info and what to expect billing wise going forward for an uncomplicated preg. kim told me that they wouldn't see me as a patient if i wouldn't pay the 2k global fee for a service i had't even received yet. - mind you, i'm only 8 weeks pregnant at this point & they're charging me for delivery in late February- which i didn't want to pay until Jan 1 as my deductible would reset then & id pay it all in full prior to delivery. They refused to let me do that. I was also wrongly scheduled for my 2nd appt at 12 weeks- they booked me for an anatomy scan and it wasnt until i talked to MUTLIPLE clinicians at other practices they said that this was wrong & they would have wasted a scanmy husband took off work for, time & $. The girls at the front desk had no clue about any of the paperwork you have to sign and gave me blank stares when i asked prior to signing. I am overall VERY thankful i chose to cancel that 2nd appt i had a bad feeling from the moment i went in & it caused so much unnecessary stress which is the last thing a first time mom needs. After speaking to multiple nurses i work with they recommended East cooper or Lowcountry OBGYN. I had amazing experiences talking with the staff at both places and so far felt way more welcomed and warm. Don't let practices bully you & don't give them your business if you don't feel comfortable. Trust your gut. read more

They seem not to care about helping the patients. No follow up. They take tests, send them off to the lab, and never get back to you with the results. Blame it on the Lab. They should be following up with the lab when they don't get results back withing 48hrs. read more

I was recommended this gynecologist from a friend and I am so glad I went! Dr. Elizabeth Richardson is one of the nicest doctors (and people) I have ever met. I was a new patient and was greeted with friendliness from all staff! It was easy quick in and out annual checkup and I felt completely comfortable the entire time. I seriously recommend this gynecologist for anybody who might be new to Charleston and is looking for recommendations. read more

Do not see Dr. Wade for a pregnancy. Myself and at least one other woman saw her. Both of us brought up our concerns of HG and constant nausea and vomiting to her. She brushed us aside entirely. Told us to take vitamin b6 and keep to the BRAT diet. The other girl ended up hospitalized because of this doctors negligence. At both appointments she made multiple inappropriate comments and at mine she brought random people into the room while I was undressed without any prior notice or request. Some were students. She talked to me like I was a child and skirted around telling me the procedure names she was wanting to perform. At 12 weeks wanted me to come in for "a 1 hour ultrasound to measure the baby's neck" front office then referred to this as a stress test (3rd trimester not 1st) overall, everyone was incompetent or rude. The lab lady royally fucked up my insurance (still dealing with issues 3 months later) and they're trying to bill me over $300 for tests that are covered at 100%. Horrible practice, do not go here. read more

If you are looking for someone that cares for you like you are family and genuinely shows you love, respect and support no matter what, this is your person. She is funny, relatable, and a beautiful soul inside and out! Someone that is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate, dependable, skilled, helpful, pays attention to detail, patient-focused, calm, and thorough. She is an incredible individual. NO ONE CAN COMPARE!!! Every appointment she shows authenticity, grace, loyalty, integrity, and we have so much fun, and it always ends with lots of laughter, and excitement for the next appointment. This OBGYN experience is one of a kind. To start, the beautiful black women Tabriah and Erin at the desk with their sweet, but easy going attitudes and personalities makes it easy to schedule appointments/ check in and out. Then, the nurses are incredible, Esha is Dr. Richardson right hand and MVP of nurses. This is who you want on your team. She is just as incredible, funny, and kind. The Lab Tech /Phlebotomist Kathy, this beautiful soul works all day/everyday she doesn't get a day off. She is always there when we come in. Her attitude and personality shines through her office every time I see her. She is the most down to earth person I have ever met! She is authentic, knowledgeable, fast, efficient and effective. She makes you smile, laugh, and want to see her again. She decorates for every holiday and it looks spectacular. She makes you want to be around her more and more. I wish she was my auntie!!! Just an amazing impressive beautiful black women. She serves TOP of the line service every time. Hands down the best in field. The sonography women are just as astounding and astute as the others and they will keep you on your toes just as much. Everyone I come in contact with are just great from the refilling the prescription to the check ups the make sure I am okay I am grateful to god for them all. read more

Love my doctor, but the office staff here are not very friendly and often are rude. (NOT the women who draw blood - they're great! Very friendly!) the woman who is the ultrasound tech is ALWAYS in a hurry with ultrasounds and takes/gives horrible pictures of the fetus. By FAR the worst I've had, and this is not my first pregnancy. They need a new ultrasound tech that shows patience and that truly cares about the patients. read more

Not a big fan of this place in the slightest. Every single time I've gone I've had to wait over an hour just to be seen. Also don't like the lack of empathy at this office. I was diagnosed with cancer during my pregnancy and when I told this to the nurse in a upbeat voice she responds with "Oh okay!" Like I am glad it isn't a big deal to you lady but my whole life has been uprooted and the struggle has been real. Maybe hire people who care about the patients that walk through the door. read more

An ob/gyn is pretty important if you're having a baby... choose wisely! I got lucky because I didn't do a ton of research but I started going here to see Dr. Hamilton - I really love her and her nurse Terri. They're very down to earth and make the pregnancy experience comfortable and not scary. Very knowledgeable and either of them can answer questions for me. I was really sad Dr. Hamilton wasn't on call when I went into labor, so another doctor at the practice actually stepped in, and I was not a fan of her quite as much. So I just wish it were smaller, then I might have been more likely to actually have my doctor deliver, plus wait times can get lengthy in the main West Ashley office. The James island office is much smaller and I never have to wait long there. Only other thing I'm not a fan of is that when I go in for regular check ups (not pregnancy related) I'm required to pay in full - no payment plan options at all. $175 might be nothing to some people but I'd prefer a payment plan! I still highly recommend this practice for Dr. Hamilton and the knowledgeable staff. read more

I saw Dr. Hamilton for the first time today and she was great! She is very thorough and gets straight to the point but is also warm and kind. I basically only became her patient because I needed to have a follow up appointment to check incisions after an unplanned surgery. My surgeon told me to book the appointment with her and I am so glad that I did! read more

This practice came very highly recommended by multiple women who live in my neighborhood. I just had my first appointment with Dr. Hamilton and I couldn't be happier with the visit. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Hamilton was very kind and seemed to take a genuine interest in getting to know me and discuss my health concerns. Dr. Ottinger is pretty good at his job. Not sure how to assess a pussy doctor. Kimmy in insurance is really good. She is definitely knowledgeable. The place is clean with delightful sea foam green walls. They say no food or drinks here but it is not enforced at all. I would certainly recommend this place. read more

Booked an appointment a month ago with Dr Devine after over 10 years of bouncing around from doctor to doctor in Connecticut looking for answers to what is chalked up to be endometriosis. Moved to Charleston in August and became insured shortly thereafter. I had a huge flare up one day and felt urgency to book an appointment with someone with a great reputation that fell under my insurance plan. Found Dr Devine and called immediately to book an appointment. Never in my over a decade of booking appointments have I ever not first and foremost asked if that practice took my insurance. The woman I spoke to on the phone told me they did and that it was "perfect". So I marked my calendar and counted down the days to finally go to a doctor that I believed could give me some direction. About a week after booking it I was in so much pain I visited a physician who took one look at me and told me she could get me into see a doctor at East Cooper OBGYN within three days. I told her I had an appointment with Dr Devine, she knew of her and told me she was great and to keep my appointment to see her. Flash forward a month, I drove 45 minutes after having to find a babysitter for my 1 year old. Walked in and the woman at the desk pulled up my appointment, made a face and told me they did not in fact take my insurance and that I could opt to pay the $200 fee for the appointment without insurance. I did not make a scene, even though it was gut-wrenching and I just left and cried in my car. Why this information wasn't told to me a month ago while I had the girl on the phone who told me everything was "perfect" I don't know.. this is in no way a review on the practice (seeing as how I didn't even get to see a doctor) but really a review on their receptionists. In my opinion this was just inexcusable on their part. read more
