Kept my camper way past when it was supposed to be ready. Made calls a couple of times. Finally came in. It was in due to errors they made when they last had it. The service guy slouched in the chair with tons of attitude. I told him my repairs had already been paid for. He said others had been paid for as well. Ended up finding the manager. We were recommended this place by a friend for our fifth wheel repair. We had a leak in one of our slide outs, which ended up with the floor rotting. We dropped it off, and John checked us in. He sent us weekly updates and pictures, letting us know the progress every step of the way. They were timely and professional, and I could not recommend them enough. Took our rv in as the air conditioner was not running. They put in a new one then said they also needed to put in a new thermostat. More than $2000 later, we picked it up. Two nights later we went camping. The first night we had a thunderstorm. It poured rain inside the rv. Then, the air conditioner cut off every night around midnight and though the temp got to 85, inside, it didn't come back on until sometime the next morning. Then it started cycling off and on every few seconds. Took it in. They said they couldn't get it to leak but they tightened it down, then they said the thermostat light was going off because it went to sleep like your phone does. After pointing out that we never said anything about a light and going through what it was doing again, they ran the air conditioner for several days and again said they couldn't get it to do it. Of course, the temps were in the 50's and highs 60's, unlike the 90's we had been in and no one was in the rv at night. We suggested they replace the thermostat. That would cost us another $200- that's what they charged for a $30 thermostat (the same one is available on Amazon) plus the 5 min it takes to install. So, we picked it and took it home. We live over an hour away so it was several trips there. The air conditioner worked and the compressor went off and on as it should. The fan runs continually but we read that is what this extremely low quality thermostat does. So though they claimed they could find nothing wrong, it now runs very differently than before. They didn't pay for the raised flooring the leak caused. They obviously fixed something but didn't want to pay for damage. Not very trustworthy if they can't admit errors or even tell us what they did. We'll go elsewhere next time. Save yourself a lot of time and money and do the same. read more

Obaugh RV Service caused a gas leak in my RV, ruined my accessory battery after needlessly putting a fuel pump in and then called the cops. Eric also threatened legal action to be sure they were going to get paid. Read below Generator would turn over but not start. I was told by Obaugh the generator needed its fuel pump replaced and it would be around 800 total with half being for part. Reluctantly I said ok since they would charge 200 just to tell me and get a 2nd opinion which I didn't have time to deal with. I wondered why nothing else was checked or changed, fuel filters and fuel lines, etc. Common sense engine repair says do the little/cheap things first Well the $800 fuel pump didn't fix it so the mechanic Richard thought it was below a quarter tank and had cut off gas to the generator (so the generator cause you to be stranded). He told me he sprayed starting fluid on it to get it to run so that meant it wasn't getting fuel. I asked if he had tried that before replacing the fuel pump and he said "I don't know, I didn't work on it before it was replaced., there were about 3 techs working it" Again reluctantly I drove over in the poring rain with wife and two toddlers in the van and filed the tank, put in 20 gallons but it was not the problem. Then on Tuesday I was told it was fixed and Miranda said in a voicemail they had to "blow out the gas lines". Then I knew they chose to replace the pump before even checking for clogged lines or filters. This is basic mechanic knowledge, especially when dealing with an older model that has had ethanol gas engines. They should have been checked first, not last. I was still just glad it was fixed. I knew rain was coming and didn't want it to get rained on again. So I went by myself to put the cover on but when I tried to start the generator it only made a "click", then I noticed I had no interior lights. In short they burned up my accessory battery. I started the main engine of the RV and then was able to start the generator from inside the RV. But it ran a bit rough, revving high and low and cut off when I turned the main engine off. So I started the main engine and then started the generator. It ran fast and slow, up and down with lights inside going bright and dim all while I put the top on. While it was running I smelled gasoline and looked under the RV near the generator and gas was pouring out. Fortunately it stopped after generator was off for about 5 minutes. Gasoline, so dangerous, especially given the fact it was on the same side as the propane oven and stove top that is ignited with a spark. At this point I did not feel it was safe to deal with Obaugh on the RV due to the damage that had been done, danger posed to my family and carelessness of the work. On Christmas day we had it moved to another place to have it looked at, Obaugh had it for weeks and had done this damage to it. I called and told them why it was gone and that I wasn't paying anything until I knew how much the damage would cost me. Long story short Ben and/or Eric called the police. Yep, caused a gas leak, ruined my accessory battery after needlessly putting a fuel pump in and then called the cops. Yes, called the cops, as if they would get involved in a civil issue. Eric also threatened legal action to be sure they were going to get paid. Eventually when it was fixed correctly the Obaugh crew agreed to take my extremely generous offer of paying them the $1000+ bill minus what it cost me to fix the damage. The worst customer/business experience in my 45 years, hands down. Lucky for Obaugh my wife didn't support filing the lawsuit and lucky for us nobody got killed. read more

We recently had 2 major replacements on our motorhome. Both times the customer service was awful. When we went to pick up our unit after the awning was replaced, we were given the key and told where it was parked. The awning hardware looked different than the old one, and my husband had a terrible time opening and closing it. NO ONE ever came to help us or show him if anything was different. I finally went into the office and insisted that someone come and help him. When I asked about the paperwork, all were given was a box with leftover parts and NO ONE could explain why there were extra parts after the install. Recently we had to have the AC unit replaced. After paying, I asked about the Manufacturers paperwork and was told that it was "probably in the motorhome" by the guy who checked us out. Again, we were given the key and had to find it in the parking area. NO ONE came out with us. The warranty and user manuals were not in the motorhome and when I went back to the office to ask, another employee told us they were not in the box with the new A/C. My husband insisted on some information, so they cut the information sticker off the box and gave us that. That guy offered to have the information sent to us by email. When we logged on to the manufacturers website, not only did the unit need to be registered to activate the warranty, but there were several options for an extended warranty that NO ONE ever explained to us. Unfortunately, it's the only place in this area for RV repairs other than engine work. We may end up back there, but I know now not to expect much, and neither should you. read more

On 6/27/18 I brought my camper to Obaugh RV for a couple of repairs and a state inspection. I needed a new awning fabric, 2 new awning arms and the dinette shade restrung. During the state inspection Obaugh RV found the rear seals were failing and letting grease into the brake drums, it would not pass inspection. They called and told me this so I told them to fix it so it would pass inspection. They supposedly removed, cleaned & repacked the bearings and installed new seals and performed the state inspection and charged me $415.72 for this service, the total bill was $1,766.32. I picked the camper up on 7/10/18. I had shoulder surgery a month earlier so I just parked it when I got home. We went to the Martinsville NASCAR race at the end of October and the dinette shade was so tight it wouldn't open. Got home from race and winterized it and forgot about the shade. Then we went back to Martinsville the end of March 2019. Because of my shoulder surgery I didn't try to hang our lights off the awning in October 2018 but I did this time in March 2019. There was no opening in the tube to slide the light hangers in, something was done wrong when they installed the new fabric.When we got back from Martinsville I took it back to Obaugh RV on 4/2/19 to have these two things fixed. They fixed the awning tube so I can slide the light hangers in but had to order a new blind because the end cap was broken, said they repaired the string again but still doesn't work. Waited 32 days for new blind, never came in so I had to pick up the camper to get ready to go to the Charlotte Speedway. Picked camper up on 5/4/19. Went on E-bay found the blind (brand new) had blind in 3 days. Eric Obaugh said I had an off brand camper and it was hard to find parts. It's a Forest River brand camper, not really an off brand is it? We left for Charlotte on 5/15/19 and got to the 109 exit on I-81 to get breakfast and top off with gas. I noticed the drivers side rear wheel was almost off the axle. There is an RV repair shop there and the owner looked at the axle. He diagnosed it as a driver side rear axle bearing complete failure. After drilling and chiseling out the castle nut, he noticed the axle spindle was damaged beyond repair and bent, axle must be replaced.Now this bearing malfunctioned after only 776 miles and 10 months after Obaugh RV supposedly removed, cleaned, and repacked the bearings. The owner of the RV shop said they couldn't have been greased right to last only 776 miles. I called Obaugh RV and they sent a trailer to pick up our camper. They ordered a new axle and the camper was ready to pick up on 6/19/19. They would not stand behind their work and I had to pay $968.10 to get my camper. So I lost a weeks vacation, $350 infield camping at Charlotte Motor Speedway, $75 worth of gas, and had to pay the mechanic $125 where I broke down and pay Obaugh RV $968.10 for a new axle because the old axle wasn't serviced right, and pay $100 to re-string the window shade that still doesn't work. Ben (service manager) said I couldn't prove what happened to the axle so I had to pay for repairs, they payed the tow bill. The camper is a 2010 that we bought new and the factory bearings were 9 years old with never any problems. Obaugh RV works on it and 776 miles and 10 months later a bearing goes out and ruins the axle, what do I need to prove?? I don't know of anybody with a video camera pointed at their axles so they can prove what happened while driving down the road. Ben said he and Charlie Obaugh discussed it that since they payed the tow bill I had to pay the repair bill, to them that was fair. Let's recap, Obaugh RV had 3 repairs to do originally, restring the blind, new awning fabric and arms, and new seals in axles. All 3 had to be redone or replaced! And by the way, the hub cap on the new axle is beat up, they took pictures of it but did nothing. I lost a total of $1,618.10 and a week of vacation because Obaugh RV won't stand behind their work. SeeMor truck tops and customs in Mount Crawford will get my repairs from now on. So people please beware before you take your camper to Obaugh RV. We were going to buy a new 336FBOK Eagle 5th wheel camper from Obaugh RV but not now, we will buy it from another dealer. I also bought a new Silverado 3500HD from Obaugh Chevrolet in 2016 and was planning on trading it in next year. I will trade it in but not with Obaugh Chevrolet. My wife and I talked it over and we think that is only fair! And buy the way this is the second really bad experience with Obaugh RV. We took the camper to them on 11/28/2016 and didn't get it back until 3/15/2017 and after that long of time I had to repair 2 things myself. Again we were leaving for Martinsville Speedway 2 days after we got it back. I had to replace the entertainment center box, tv and radio wouldn't work. Had to go on vacation without it. I should have learned from that but I thought it wouldn't happen again, man was I wrong. read more
