I am so grateful for this shop! Both Scott and Rick were so helpful and kind in helping me with a replacement battery for my vehicle. While I had a bit of sticker shock at the price of the battery, after some sleuthing, I found their price to be the lowest around. I picked up the battery this morning and installed it at home myself. It has a 3 year warranty should there be any issues with it. So grateful! Couldn't recommend them more highly. Being new to the area, it's really comforting to know they're just a short drive away should the need arise for service. Thank you guys so much!!! read more

I really appreciate having this service station in the area. I've used Scott's for my two vehicles during the past 2 years and have always been very satisfied with their work. Whether in person or over the phone they are always friendly and patient. When I had to buy new tires they gave me several price points and did not try to upsell me. Hey, your response from last review was to call... trust me I will because my wife will not. I left a negative review earlier for my daughters car which was sketchy!! I told my wife that I don't know about them and to look elsewhere. They are really convenient to her. They did oil change / tire rotation 3,500 miles ago, she took in for state inspection. They told her she failed because 2 lug nuts were seized (same wheel 2 lug nuts) and would not come off. ... I told her (from past history) to fail her and we would take care of.... They told her that they would not let the car leave because the nuts were loose and not on the wheel... this means that they started backing off the lug nuts and they seized and would not go back or forth..... they OVER TIGHTENED , stripped the threads, crossed threaded and HELD MY CAR HOSTAGE. I had to pay over $500 to get fixed because they said it wasn't there mistake!! It was 100% Scott's mistake!! All the money you guys make, you should invest in a service guide and a torque wrench read more

It physically pains me to write this review because previously I always thought so highly of Scott's and trusted them for my maintenance. Starting at 16 that was where I took my car and I was excited to move back to Charlottesville knowing I had someone I trusted. But recently I had a really poor experience that makes me question my trust of them. My 2017 Honda CRV was around 35k miles and I went in for an oil change. It was recommended that at my next service (around 40k) I was going to need a lot of fluid exchanges. I was only partially surprised because I purchased the car around 27k miles and I had not properly done a 30k service due to Covid and not driving much. I mentioned needing the fluid exchanges to a mechanic friend who looked at me like I had 5 heads and told me it was way too early and to check my manual. The CVT transmission fluid exchange is not recommended until 90k miles. So they were suggesting it over 50k miles early and it is a $600 service so not something I want to just do if it's not needed. I was shocked but wanted to give them a chance to explain. Maybe the previous owner had done something that made it need this care earlier then normal. I called and talked to Lindsey who told me there was nothing wrong with my car but they follow older standards and do the service every 30k miles and of course varies based on how much you drive the car and if you are towing etc. I just drive my car around town so no reason this should apply to me. It just seems wasteful to be doing a device 3x as much as the manufacturer recommends. I called around to 3 other shops in the area all of whom said it was far too early. All around just very disappointed. read more

Don't trust these guys. Last year, they said we needed new brakes to pass inspection. Sadly, we believed them and overpaid for brakes. This year, on a different car, they said the same thing. We took it to the dealer for the state inspection and they said, "we changed your brakes three months ago and they're fine. Here's the receipt from that job." When we told them what Scott's had said to us, the mechanic said that's really funny because your other car's brakes were installed wrong and we had to fix them. Bottom line, these guys are not to be trusted at all. read more

I needed a state inspection. I had tried 6 places and all said it would be a week. I stopped in Scott's Exxon and they worked my car in while I waited. The employees were efficient, very courteous , and extremely thorough. I cannot express how impressed I was with their customer service. I will definitely do business there again. read more

Avoid using this business if you can very shady people I called just to have my front breaks and rotors replaced I already had the parts just needed them installed they said it was ok on the phone and kept saying they needed to do they're own inspection as if I don't know what's wrong with my car I literally had it inspected at my main shop and they said my front breaks and rotors need to be replaced they probably just wanna look to see what else they can charge me for. When I arrive at the shop at 7am as we spoke of on the phone I literally had to make myself late for work just to get there the guy tells me the can't use the parts I have...... well buddy that would have been good to say over the phone... wasted my time and effort thinking they could help me but no and based on other reviews I've read here it all adds up AVOID THIS SHOP! read more

Needed my car inspected yesterday and new to the area having no clue it wasn't like most towns you can go in same day get it done in about a hour lol after going to a few places I noticed this one and they fit me in and even drove me home due to me having no one to pick me up. I've gone here to take several used cars I was looking at for pre-sale inspection, and they have saved me a ton of time, money, and future headaches. They are incredibly thorough and detailed, as they give you an online report (in addition to paper) for your reference. If there are things that need to be addressed, they price it out for you. This place was wonderful! If I had known about Scott's Ivy Exxon sooner I would have dropped off my car every year for inspection instead of pawning off the task to my dad. They were super welcoming, professional, and informative. I made an appointment, dropped off my car before work, and they even offer a shuttle service free of charge to take me to work (was completely expecting to Lyft)! Within a few short hours I received an email giving me a run down of my inspection complete with photos and I received a call further explaining the outcome of my inspection. I had to get my wipers replaced to pass and they replaced it for a reasonable price. As soon as I was done with work I gave them a call and they picked me up within minutes. Called Scott's for an estimate to replace 4 spark plugs. They said I needed to come by. When I got there they said I needed to leave the car for a day & couldn't fit me in for 2weeks. I asked for an estimated price on putting 4 spark plugs in the car. Was told they don't know till I leave the car for a day 2 weeks later. Are you kidding me!! Are they then going to tell me I need A new transmission, ball joints & God know what else. Basic labor price to replace 4 plugs plus the price of plugs. Do they think I was born yesterday. Beware! Dishonest and unbelievably overpriced. Despite the great reviews on their website, DO NOT TRUST THEM. They failed my state inspection, claiming I needed a left inner tie rod replacement to pass. Quoted me OUTRAGEOUS prices with a laundry list of repairs, quoted me DOUBLE what other local mechanics quoted me for new breaks. Turns out, my car passed inspection without needing ANY repairs. The mechanic who checked out the tie rod stated that the issue was so minute/insignificant that it wouldn't even be noticed by mechanics, denying any need for repair at all. STRONGLY advise choosing a different mechanic. read more

There was a reason the Scott's found all kinds of work that "needed" to be done for that other customer who gave the positive review - that's part of his business model - to sell as much as he can. I took my car in for a State Inspection and unbeknownst to me, Scott's did a "courtesy check" and came up with a ridiculous list of things they said needed work - not for the inspection, but as "maintenance." The "courtesy check" was no courtesy but instead the business development check. They failed me for inspection on one item that when I took the car to another mechanic (I wasn't about to let them do the work that I doubted was needed) it was no surprise when I was told they never should have failed the car for that item. read more
