The owner, Chris Dwyer, has more than 10 years of experience as a residential painter, and was…read moreengaging and professional initially, so I hired him to paint one recently renovated room and a bathroom in my home. His quote for the project was reasonable so we agreed upon a price and signed a contract. Within two days of beginning the job he complained about there being more detailed work than he anticipated so he couldn't proceed without a substantial increase in his price. I should have ended things there, but he was very convincing about his ability to make this room shine to match the rest of our home, so I agreed. Lesson learned. Unfortunately Chris was not up to the task and did a very sloppy job. He estimated this project to take three to four days, but it stretched to over 2 weeks due to his delays. When he was supposedly finished I discovered numerous areas which had not been painted at all, many more with prominent runs/dribbles and pooled paint, and he had painted over plaster which he promised to sand smooth first but simply didn't. I pointed these out and he agreed to come back to fix his 'holidays', and he did return and resolved some of the worst, but he proved incapable of cleaning everything up. There were still paint spills on stained wood, paint spills on our newly installed carpet, and he actually sealed, with caulking, the door on an under-stair storage space and painted it such that I had to use a chisel and hammer to get it open. I ended up hiring another painter to come clean up the unprofessional mess that Chris made and I could never recommend his services to anyone else.

Tom answered all the questions and concerns before the job started. He found a small vanity sink that fit our bathroom. There were not too many options when it came to tiles, so seeing a few more options before deciding would have been nice. The job took 4 days instead of 5. It moved along at a good pace. He has a closely-knit team of trusted partners, and that contributes to the consistent quality and speed of work. You could pursue a cheaper option like Home Depot, but they make no guarantee on their subcontractors' expertise, and what they can do is extremely limited (structural changes are a nonstarter).
