I wanted a contractor who had integrity, honesty, and accountability. I researched what needs to be done to paint the exterior of a house the right way. I saw the WPainting advertisement in the Angie's List monthly, and the community advertising flyer. The ad listed all of the major steps for preparing the exterior to paint. The house in the ad, has a lot of character, like a type of Victorian house. showed it as before the full scraping off of paint, the same view after the full scrape, sanding and wash, and the same view after the painting was done. When Wallace came to review the job I needed done he stressed the importance of the prep work, and that the whole house is scraped, sanded, washed, caulked, primed, and two coats of paint. He told me about jobs he was working on and has worked on locally--a well known funeral home and upscale restaurant. I checked reviews on the BBB website, Angie's list, Yelp... all good, no complaints. I checked Facebook... Everything from talking with Wallace and his office manager to the ad to the online information told me this is a professional meeting what is important to me. I was taken back by the estimate as my house is a small cape style home, but I liked him. I spoke with another painter who was a referred by a neighbor. Their house looks good after 5 years, however, my first concern was that I couldn't find anything about him online, at the BBB website. Second, when I met him and walked him through the job I learned more about his personal life than how he would approach the job. I had to ask how he prepped... typical of what we often see is the contractor will scrape if it's needed, prime if it's needed and paint. The estimate was half of what Wallace quoted me for a discounted price... which when I thought about it... ultimately would cost more than Wallace's quote. I listened to ads on the radio... felt I was hearing hype. I kept coming back to what stood out in my mind about WPainting. I was sold! Every step that Wallace stated would be done to prepare my house was delivered and well done. Every time I talked with him about the prep he always stressed the importance of preparing the house for the painting, in order to have it last a long time. The message was consistent throughout the entire experience. Wallace walks the talk! He delivers on his commitment. He is a true professional with lots of integrity. We interviewed nine companies to paint our home exterior and perform carpentry work. After receiving excellent references, we decided on W Painting due to their attention to detail, emphasis on the prep work as well as the fact that the crew was employed by W Painting and not sub-contractors and Wallace would be on sight daily. The prep work was amazing. The house was scraped down to the bare wood and clapboard replaced where needed. We ended up needing a large amount of carpentry work including replacement of the drip edge around the entire house, most all corner boards, a majority of window sills as well as replacement of the exterior facade of our outside deck. Wallace was available to advise us on the various 'surprises' throughout the job and offered good economical solutions. The workers cleaned up the property daily and were very courteous and seemed to enjoy their work (entertaining us with their singing quite often!). Overall, we could not be happier with the end result which has been commented on by our neighbors. Wallace of W Painting responded to our call the same day and arrived on time to give an estimate on the exterior painting of our Tudor style house. He returned once again to address some of our concerns. Wallace and his team were fantastic. They arrived every morning around 7:30AM and worked until evening. They were polite, professional and highly efficient paying close attention to minor details. They cleaned up at the end of each day and put away their equipment. All through the project, Wallace frequently checked in on the progress and was accommodating, even taking on the task of white washing some of the brickwork, which was not part of our original agreement. Damaged wood and down spouts were replaced and painted over to our specifications. Wallace was consultative, offering us suggestions and recommendations. The work was completed on time and on budget. I needed the trim on my house painted, the porch floor and ceiling sanded and oiled and some rotten boards replaced. He provided a detailed estimate of what the job would include. He showed up on the job most days to see how things were progressing and to ask if I had any questions or concerns. He also took some on jobs himself. My project went very smoothly with WPainting from start to finish. Wallace was a pleasure to work with. Before the project (exterior painting of all wooded trim, gutters and downspouts) started he made a few suggestions which I am glad I followed. He cares about customer satisfaction and was at my site every day to make sure everything was being done right and also did some of the work himself. All my questions/comments were properly addressed. His crew of three people worked hard for about ten hours every day and they did a pretty good job. We were particularly happy with Wallace's emphasis on proper preparation - it says so on the truck - and his four-man crew did an excellent job of scraping, caulking and priming. They did a great job. They had a lot of prep work to do before they could even begin, and they cleaned everything up wonderfully. They had to match the trim color to previous window frames and did an excellent job and their paint specialist they referred me to helped me pick out the door accent color that I love. I love my front door now. I loved the color so much that I mentioned I was going to paint the garage door later and asked him for recommendations on how to do it best (it was not part of the original quote).
