I am writing this review to document a serious and disappointing experience I encountered after…read moremoving out of Springs at Westport in Port Charlotte. After properly terminating my lease and moving out, I received a notice from FPL informing me that my account was being closed because a new tenant had already moved into the unit--approximately two weeks after my move-out date. Despite this clear confirmation that the apartment was re-occupied, Springs at Westport is still attempting to charge me thousands of dollars in fees. A few days later, Springs at Westport contacted me again and stated they would be sending this balance to collections, even though the unit had already been leased to someone else. This situation is extremely concerning and unfair, as I am being billed for time I did not live in the apartment and for a unit that was already generating income from another renter. This experience has been stressful, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. I hope management takes accountability and resolves this issue so that no future resident has to deal with the same treatment.

The property manager was able to hold my apartment until my house sold as I had requirements due to my disability to be on the first floor and to have a walk-in shower of which there were limited Apartments . Since moving in last month I have enjoyed meeting my neighbors and working with the staff here there has been no problems except blown breaker which was fixed immediately . I plan on staying here a long time and enjoy the people that work here as they are helping me to transition from a homeowner to an apartment renter after 40 years . I would recommend the springs greatly for its quiet neighborhood and professional staff .

PLEASE save yourself the hassle and look at reviews from multiple websites not just google. The management and staff constantly turnover so there is never anyone in the office who has an ounce of a clue what they are doing. It seems like every month we have a new property manager who is just as unhelpful as the last. I went to speak with the current property manager, Brianna, who not only tried to kick me out of the clubhouse that I pay to utilize because she didn't like that I was upset and frustrated with the living conditions. But then proceeded to insult myself and her residents, implying it was beneath her to live in these apartments. I have been having issue after issue due to the incredibly poor quality of the buildings. I have even had previous maintenance men explain to me that the construction company was doing such a poor job building that they were fired. One building, building 12, had been condemned for almost a year before they started letting residents back into it recently due to major flooding on the right side of the building. Common issues in these apartments include but are not limited to: Incorrect electrical wiring causing fan speeds to be backwards and in some units, you have to pay comcast to come out and install a cable to the wall to be able to access internet. Some of the faucets are backwards, making hot water cold and cold water hot. Door handles fall off inside. The main door deadlock to the apartment is not secure (expect to have to tighten it every day). Walls paint will easily chip off exposing metal directly behind it if you even brush the wall a little to hard, then maintenance will refuse to fix it without sending you a bill. A/C units often break so expect to frequently have to call and wait on maintenance to come fix that. THE WALLS ARE MADE OF PAPER. Simple walking across the floor will sound very loud booming echo's to the bottom floors and you can hear conversations in other peoples units. Another big thing to note is certain people here get sympathy points and are allowed to break the leasing contract however others are not. I have put in well over 25 combined reports (20ish to the office before the curtesy officer and about 5ish since they got a curtesy officer) of my upstairs neighbors blasting music, screaming, and stomping/ jumping (which imagine how loud that is considering walking is a jump scare) between the hours of 12am and 6am. Per the lease, quiet hours are 10pm-7am and excessive noise during these hours is considered a lease violation. Of course due to the constant staff turnover there is no official documentation of complaints to the office leaving just the 5 with the curtsey officer who told us he doesn't always have time or isn't always awake to come confirm the noise, making the complaint a "he said she said" situation. Us on the other hand if we accidently leave our trash can out for a little too long we get a $25 fee. We have respectfully asked to terminate our lease due to a current safety issue between the upstairs ternate and I and to my knowledge, they will not honor it without charging us almost $4,000 to move. I have tried contacting corporate, who according to property manager, Brianna, received my call and contacted her rather than contacting me, the resident with the complaint. Brianna has also refused to give me an email to corporate to create a paper trail stating she would email them and CC me on the email. It has now been 5 hours since that conversation with no email. I went in around 3 hours after the initial conversation to check in on it to which she informed me it was more important to her to walk empty apartments then to help a resident get approximately 9-10 months of issues resolved by taking 5 minutes to write an email or to simply just give me the email.. Unless you really enjoy terrible management, constant problems, beaten down apartments, lies, and throwing away money, I do not recommend Kittle properties!

The 'reasonable' up front advertising is simply bait. Once you bite, the 'reasonable' rent increases significantly when incidentials are added. Water, electric, and cable are separate and your responsiblity. I hired a cleaning person and left the apartment immaculate and was still charged a $395 move out fee. I was charged for carpet replacement as it was claimed my 2 cats soiled the rug when my cats always used their litter box--and I was there for only 3 months. I think they use the same photo of stained carpet pad for everyone who moves out to collect more $ from you. When the carpet replacement fee was challenged with if my cats soiled the carpet with urine you would be able to smell it when you walked in the door. Their reply:"we have photos"--and you have no proof that the photo they showed you of that carpet pad was from your apartment. Very fishy. DOGS! TONS of dogs--and TONS of barking nonstop. A couple of times I was frightened walking to my apartment due to snarling/fighting dogs. Be smart and look elsewhere.
