I have been having a really tough time with various issues on my feet. It seemed like I would solve one problem and create a new one. I have seen a podiatrist and foot and ankle ortho specialist with no solid solution. Today, I went to the East Blvd CRC location planning to get another temporary fix to hold me off for a vacation before ultimately buying a custom insert, but I left with solutions! I worked with Armani and he was AMAZING. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and determined to solve my problems. After over an hour of listening, studying my issues, and trying out options, we found 2 great shoes that gave me instant relief. 10/10 recommend this shop and working with Armani if he's around! Armani patiently walked me through new fueling options and opened my eyes to better routines. Naim even spent two full hours helping me test different carbon shoes until we found the right fit. I went to the Charlotte Running co today after 3 failed attempts at online ordering on clouds and being so defeated as a night shift worker who works between 3-6 12 hour shifts in a row, who had to work 3 more nights in a row (after 2 already) that I stayed awake to go there. I had just gotten my new on clouds in the mail this morning and they were a replacement pair for a size that was too big. When I was trying on the replacement smaller size. I noticed that where the ankle hit was incredibly uncomfortable and just not for me. But I figured because on cloud told me to size up that if I sized down the next pair of the same cloud monsters would fit better which is what I did per their recommendations. Unfortunately , to my surprise, they did not fit better. They felt the exact same way in my knee and my ankle and I felt like I could not perform my job duties in those shoes. So after going through now four pairs of on clouds, I decided it was time to go see the professionals. Sarah was incredibly informative, thorough, compassionate, kind, and patient. I have ADHD and I'm a lot to handle, but she managed to find a pair that would work for me. She did not get upset that I wasn't buying today because I had to figure out what I was gonna do with my old on clouds, but was very considerate about the fact that I am living paycheck to paycheck and had to figure out what to do with the old on clouds that I had never worn because they were a warranty pair and that I would have to come back to purchase the hokas that she found for me. Because I've spent so much money on these on clouds thinking they'd be best for me in the healthcare industry. Money is not available right now for new shoes, mainly because I just got a new pair that I need to send back and she had no problem with that. So this will definitely be a place that I will come back to because she treated me with the utmost respect, was involved, asked the right questions, had the perfect attention to detail in fit, what I was looking for, what I use the shoes for, and how I need them to fit and feel that my days of blindly ordering offline are over with. Most people in any sales role would get frustrated after 10 mins of an interaction without purchase but she remained focused on the goal I had in the end and as soon as I get the refund for these on clouds I bought from on, I am coming back and buying the hoka bondi 9's because they felt perfect and I haven't had a great shoe in a long dang time. read more

WORST AND I MEAN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Sad it was from a so called boss! Events unfolded by my husband standing at a doorway talking with an associate to get a different shoe. (Things are great.... at this point.) I watched a young lady hold ONE box of shoes in her hand to go back into the stock area. Place them down cause my husband was talking to the associate. She walked off no problem. Then the "boss" walks over says as he is on the phone in his ear.. I need you out of the doorway. My husband said I'm talking to the man. The "boss" says you need to move! Ummm okay he moves. (SMALL STORE AT THAT) Girl picks up her one box walks in the room, the guy helping us walks out. The "boss" walks over with the phone still attached to his head. Is there a problem here?!?! His words that made me laugh. I saw him looking at me! Haha. YES, YES, we both were cause you need a lesson in customer service and definitely that situation was uncalled for. Needless to say nothing in that store we wanted after that. I'm a first-time customer and found their policies regarding exchanges, returns, refunds, store credits, etc. to be much more restrictive than other retailers. When I tried on shoes, it seemed like I would need a regular 10.5, but they didn't have any in stock, so they had to order. But before they would order the size I needed, the staff said I first had to pay for a pair of shoes and exchange them for the correct size later. I should have read the page about their return policy first. Ultimately, I never found shoes that fit me correctly so I'm left with a store credit. It doesn't expire, but it's going to be a pain to spend it. Bottom line: once they have your money, you won't get it back. Indeed, my experience jives with the other average or below average reviews. Ultimately, I do not recommend Charlotte Running Co. REI has a greater selection, more sizes in stock, and return policies that provide the flexibility I expect when purchasing something like shoes. read more

They have a machine where they do a gait analysis, which you can get the results emailed to you. They brought out several shoe options to ensure I chose the correct one. This place is amazing. I have been running for years and have luckily not had many injuries. I had found my perfect shoe that I just kept on buying a new pair of when they wore out. But then I started getting some injuries. One that was particularly nagging - peroneal insertional tendinitis. I treated it and it seemed to get better but as soon as I ran it flared again. I did every stretch and exercise but continued to have pain with running. Being a physical therapist I am generally pretty successful treating my injuries. I then came to the conclusion that it may be time to look into a different shoe. I came to Charlotte Running company and had a running analysis with Oscar. I was impressed by the detail that went into the analysis from a computerized assessment of my foot mechanics to a treadmill assessment with video feedback. My mechanical issues in my current shoes were pointed out, and I was then presented with multiple choices of shoes to try out that would be a better fit for my mechanics. I was able to try each one out around the store and on the treadmill and found my perfect fit. They were the New Balance 860v14. I am happy to say I have back to running for about a month and my injury is no longer nagging me! Thank you Oscar! You are top notch! And the entire staff is super welcoming! Also Shout out to Brittany, who I did not work with that day, but who was super welcoming and kind during my visit. He took plenty of time to fit me . He fitted me in incredible NEW Balance that happened to be on sale. Armani is now like a family member. This store has all the goods for the runner in anyone - top of the line shoes (they carry Mizuno, Saucony, New Balance, Nike & Brooks, just to name a few), running clothing, gels, Elete and plenty of necessary running gear. It's definitely a specialty store, as the employees are extremely well educated and offer a gait fitting and shoe analysis. This is where they put you on a treadmill and watch video feedback to try to get you the best shoe possible for your individual gait. You will likely pay retail, if not a teeny bit more, here for most products. I personally think it's worth it to spend a little more money to garner all the knowledge and gear to make my long runs more bearable. One of the sales people will set you up on the treadmill that is hooked up to a laptop and measure your running style. How you run and the way your foot hits the floor. They use this information to help assist you in picking out a running shoe. Apparently every style of shoe is different for each individual. They also carry this neat miniature hydrating juice that can be kept in your pocket while jogging, nifty. The store isn't just for running either, you can also pick up a weatsuit here. They recommend expensive options in styles you wouldn't typically purchase with the narrative you can return them within 30 days and minimal wear for store credit or an exchange. I wore shoes twice outdoors for less than 3 miles distance and wanted to exchange a half size down as they previously recommended I should size up to accommodate room for swelling which did not happen for me and my foot moved around too much. I was told they wouldn't honor their return/exchange policy and that the shoes had to be unworn which was not was I was told at purchase and would not have worn outdoors otherwise. Thankfully the size discrepancy isn't horrendous but their customer service and policies are. read more

Charlotte Running Co. is a great place to get your running shoes! Initially I was skeptical about how competitive their prices would be but it is actually about on par or less than online stores. Walking in you're greeted and asked if your gait has been measured in order to pair you up with an appropriate shoe recommendation. I like this and it has been a really long time since I've been measured so I've totally forgotten and they were like nbd we got you (I'm neutral which means I don't need any corrective running shoe for those curious). I was presented with a few good choices for my running style and encouraged to run around in them through the store, on the treadmill, or even down the street if I desired. They really take the time to explain your running needs to you and make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase here. You also get a free pair of nice quality running socks when you buy a pair of shoes with a check in on the yelp app. My shoes ended up costing half as much as if I had bought them online and came with great service. I am sure I will be back eventually and in the meantime I'll recommend them to everyone who needs running shoes. read more

Any store that allows you to buy their merchandise, wear it a few times and return if you aren't happy, is seriously awesome in my book!! I decided to switch up my work outs and incorporate running (which I hadn't done since HS soccer). So once I realized the shoes I was wearing were awful and causing me sever shin splints, I decided to pop in here on my way home one day. As soon as I was helped the nice guy, I want to say Scott but am not 100% sure, took one look at the way my right foot was turning in and started grabbing boxes upon boxes of sneakers. I tried a few out on the treadmill and thought I found a great pair. I paid and left. I didn't get the gait analysis but that was fine by me, I was just happy to have a proper fitting shoe. I tested them out 2 days later and had to stop very soon after because my feet were in so much pain. It felt like they were being clamped in a vice!! So I went back the next day and there was someone else who helped me but the same nice guy was there as well. I had some old Asics on so they helped find me some shoes that were similar. I soon found a pair that felt great and luckily has worked out since. However, when I made the exchange with the old shoes the guy told me don't worry about the 7 day return period, where them as much as you need to on the treadmill to make sure you like them and if not bring them back and we will do this again! I mean that is some great customer service. So far so good with my new Brooks, and I even have a bit of store credit to use from the difference in price. Oh they also take a real interest in what kind of running you are doing, how you recover, any scheduled races, and encourage you to come in and ask for advice if you need it . After purchasing an awesome Groupon for $25 off some new shoes I was very excited to get into some tires! I had probably 400 miles on my old shoes and was in need. I know how dedicated running stores work and my experience has been that they will promote their preferences sometimes in lieu of what you may want. That being said I've learned to just force them to find a shoe model from the brand I prefer. The staff was slammed so I'm giving them a reprieve but I expected a bit more friendliness. I recently made my first trip to Charlotte Running Co. last week when I knew it was time for some new running kicks. I had previously bought two pairs of running shoes at Run For Your Life before and decided to buy my next pair here on a whim. I had no idea what I was looking for but the staff was very helpful in helping me to decide. The person helping me analyzed my gait on the treadmill and told me what I already knew about my running (I run pretty straight with a little bit of pronation). He put me in a couple shoes that were similar to the ones I had already been using but I surprisingly went with a different brand that I had not purchased before. I then found out the shoes would be a little more expensive than I would have like to pay so I asked if he could throw me a discount for my first time being there and he did! The staff also pointed out other apparel should I need it, such as sports bras, shirts, etc. I just stuck with my cool, new running shoes, though. Compared to Run For Your Life, I would say that the two stores are pretty identical. Their price points are about the same (around $100 per pair of shoes, give or take) and their staff is very friendly and helpful. They both also offer any other products you may need as far as running goes. If you want to seriously get into running, I would suggest stopping by Charlotte Running Co. and asking the staff to guide you when buying a new shoe, for advice on runs or when the next Charlotte races will be. My gait had never been analyzed before coming here - and I am glad I did! I feel better knowing I have no real foot placement issues but for those that do, these folks can help you! They will put you right on their treadmill and get you a-runnin! The key to foot safety is shoe safety! You may hurt yourself if you track too many miles in the wrong shoes. Price-wise I am not sure how this running company compares. I expect to pay about a hundred bucks for a good pair of shoes and they have shoes over and under that range. The staff was pretty frazzled when we went because of a recent groupon they sold. I hope they are more professional and organized on 'normal' occasions? Located right on East Blvd near the new Crisp - this place is easy to find. They have everything for running including shoes, socks, performance trackers, running wear, mace, water bottles etc. Really a one-stop shopping for all types of runners and walkers. I was really impressed with this place. It's right around the corner, which means I can pop over any time I need a new pair of shoes, and I received awesome service the day I went. I was shopping around for a new shoe... I've tried a few pairs over the past year but hadn't found anything I really liked. I was the only customer in the store, and the sales guy put me on the treadmill and did a quick gait analysis, which was very helpful. He trotted out a whole line of shoes for my footstrike and encouraged me to take them out for a run on the pavement since I'm mostly an outdoor runner. I ended up finding a great shoe (Asics Gel Lendrem 6) and have loved running in it for the past few weeks. The prices seem a little more than I would pay online or at a larger retailer, but I think it's worth it for the service. After all, now that I've found a shoe I really like, I can just order it online from now on. read more

I have to say, my overall experience as far as service, a team of workers that know running shoes and will help you pick out and find the shoe that works best for you....this is the place, they are very customer focused and are happy to work with you to find the right running shoe or accessories. Pro's: Great location, great staff, fairly good selection of shoes and other accessories to meet all of your running needs. Con's: And this is a big one for me and the reason I gave them only 3 stars - return policy. To me, customer service is not only about helping you find the right shoe or item you are looking to purchase, but to also have a great or flexible return policy. I was very disappointed that The Charlotte Running Company works off the philosophy that once they have your money, it's theirs, no exceptions. Buy something, even a gift item never worn or even tried on, don't look for them to refund you for your purchase, you have the option of a store credit or gift card. This to me is unacceptable. When I make a purchase and pay cash, credit, I expect if I follow the policy I get back my cash or credit, not a store credit that ties me to have to come back and find something within their store to be able to get my money back. It's simple! You pay with money, you have your receipt, you make a return of an item that doesn't work for you they return your money. NOT THE CHARLOTTE RUNNING COMPANY. And because of this, I can only rate them 3 stars as I am now stuck with a $125 store credit, found the shoes I actually want online because they didn't have them and could not order them. I guess I know what my running friends will be getting for holiday presents....my store credit! Because of the lack of flexibility on returns, 3 stars max and I won't shop there in the future or recommend them. They have a competitor in Park Road shopping center that provides the same level of service, selection and is happy to return your money if the item you purchase doesn't work out. I was also hoping to get more information regarding his visit, including what shoe it was that he was interested in. The shoe I wanted to the Lunar...something...I had the business card but since I found shoes at a place with a different engagement and inventory set up I threw it away...sorry about that one. As much as I appreciate the granular approach to explaining the business, it isn't the point of the review....the point was the customer experience, which was less than acceptable for both me and my wallet.....regardless if I fall into the "meat sizes". *wink* In addition, if the shoe wasn't one they sell a lot then the person should have told me rather than make me call back in several weeks only to be again put off in a vague manner......and again, this isn't about inventory management and whether you should have all your cash flow wrapped up in inventory but rather your floor staff being better communicators and trying to win the business while the person is in the store.......perhaps this is the issue.....is that you don't get the issue? I think your last reason...........god knows you gave enough of them.....was the " Because of the great demand, we haven't been able to get any idea from the vendor as to when our next shipment might be coming in. They are essentially shipping them as they receive them. It's not that we're trying to be vague, we just honestly don't know when we're getting our next order in." I was told some form of that reason and gave the business the benefit of the doubt of holding off on my purchase for 3 weeks and called them back, but the answer on the phone was worse than when I was on the showroom floor....even more vague. So to return the favor, when you have a potential customer on the floor and you don't have what they want, then try and sell them on something else by determining their requirements and needs, not just give vague answers that basically makes the customer think too themselves, "so do I just wait days, weeks, months???? And even if I do only to be told they don't carry the shoe anymore?" I mean really, consumerism isn't about that type of logic. It is about supply and demand and earning the customer business......you had the demand, but not the supply and in the end you didn't try very well to earn my business. I think all this is comes down to is a great lesson learned that the business can use in some process improvement for their staff, not an exercise of making potential customers look like they don't understand the shoe business. read more
