No work interference! Plus the location was easy to find and not far off I-64, which was convenient. I checked in at my specified arrival time, paid, and sat down. Not more than 30 seconds later, the tech called my name, asked me the requisite questions, and got me set up with a gown. Then another person called me over to insert the IV for contrast. Both folks were very pleasant and personable, keeping light chatter throughout the process. The MRI tech was great as well, and she checked in throughout the scan to make sure I was okay and to tell me how much longer I had to go. I waited 90 minutes after my time slot only to see someone who asked for my entire medical history before their PA would see me some time later. They could not tell me how when that would be. Just sometime before they close. This Med Express facility is now operated by Bon Secours, and apparently they do not have patient records from Med Express, Sentara or UVA. By contrast, Sentara's Urgent Care on High St was able to see me immediately, had access to all of my medical records and the care was excellent.

Dr. Matthew Reilley happens to be the only specialist in my rare condition and I was referred to him last summer due to fear of potential spread. He is the nicest doctor I've ever encountered of any specialty, genuinely. He celebrates wins with you and is willing to see you as a unique patient. Even his staff has amazing things to say about him. On my last visit, I accidentally drove to the hospital rather than the Pantops location, which resulted in arriving late to my appointment. I felt terrible about it, but they were all soooo absurdly nice and still let me be seen, which I know is NOT the norm in medical practices. Overall, hopefully Dr. Reilley will remain my oncologist for the long haul.

Dr. Reed and Rachel are responsive and communicate extremely well. I rarely ever wait for anything at this clinic. Rachel is an amazing nurse. She is extremely upbeat. She makes being treated for cancer a lot more bearable! I am highly recommending Dr. Reed to others in my MPN Support Groups. The entire team is amazing. From Jessica the scheduler, the intake nurse, Rachel, Kim, Caroline, and Dr. Reed. They are patient and I never feel rushed. I know if I wait a couple minutes for Dr. Reed it is because he is giving another patient the exact same high level of care. I drive 3 hours each way every 2 weeks and would drive further to get to this team. Dr. Reed answers every question, checks back to ensure I understand everything he says. Rachel always comes in after and ensures I understand and walks me out. I can't ask for better or more compassionate care. Once I found this cancer center, A load was taken off my shoulders and placed on my medical team. My job is to fight cancer, they not only join me in that fight but I feel they are shouldering the responsibility and I have complete faith in them. I'm a doctor (not medical) and Dr. Reed and Rachel treat me as an educated person, allow me a seat at the table for my treatment planning, and I cannot ask for more. I feel empowered in my treatment planning, and I cannot ask for more. This is the second Cancer Center I have been to. Hands down, the experience is night and day. Thank you for all that the entire UVA Cancer Team does to provide top notch care to every patient. I truly feel like I am the only patient the team has and during my time there, it is 100% about me, not blood test numbers.

Dr. Lord has been my PCP for over Seven Years and continuing to have him as my PCP is well worth the Hour and a Half Drive each way. So I most heartedly recommend Dr. Lord and his new practice at WellFamily Medicine. My experience with the Front Office and with Dr. Lord's Nurse have been absolutely positive! In fact, on my first visit, I accidentally reopened s wound on my forearm and the receptionist immediately called for Dr. Lord's Nurse, who took me back to a room, cleaned the blood from my arm, and bandaged my wound. All three doctors were kind and gentle and I never once felt uncomfortable with staff. The building was clean and well maintained. Nursing staff were rockstars at making bloodwork literally painless!
