Excellent facility for recycling materials that a lot of recycling operations won't handle. I use the styrofoam, cork, miscellaneous metals and aluminum often. Plastics also. Like that they offer recycling of electronics, paint and other hazmats, although I don't have much of those. Well informed staff are available to help. I enjoy the experience. read more

CHaRM on Hill St is the best place for recycling, including hard to recycle items such as old electronics, styrofoam or plastic packing materials. CHaRM requires you make an appointment in advance, but appointments are readily available.The employees and/or volunteers located at each recycling station are knowledgeable and can direct you to the right bin for recycling the materials you've brought. Load up your car and go. Glad we have this resource in our city. read more

Great to have this facility nearby. I always want to do my part for the environment and Charm allows you to recycle a wide variety of products that can't be placed in your curbside bin. I've been going there for quite some time and lately, customer service has been lacking. Not nearly as friendly or helpful as they used to be. It seems that efficiency and getting cars through the line as quickly as possible has caused some of the staff to forgo the kind, helpful attitudes I had been used to. Hopefully they will soon realize that they can do both and return to providing good customer service. read more

Big fan of this place. I go at least once a month to take my waxed cartons, plastic bags, styrofoam, and glass. They take just about anything so check out the website or don't be afraid to ask the staff and volunteers on site. I find throwing glass into the big dumpsters so fun and therapeutic. I love the fact they leave you alone unless you ask for help. Whenever I have had a question or was not clear where to put something, they have all been super friendly and helpful. Check the website for closures as they are often closed the Saturday before a Monday holiday. They are also super appreciative of any financial donations, including whatever cash you have in your pocket. It is a non-profit. read more

Needed a place to recycle some cooking oil and gas, it is near Atlanta and most items are free to recycle up to a certain weight.

Since metro Atlanta curbside recycling does not accept glass, I was excited to find that CHaRM will take them. Had been to a few recycling centers/kiosks in California where there is CRV incentive, but they are usually quite grimy, smelly and dirty. In Atlanta there isn't that cashback, so I was even more than impressed with CHaRM for so many reasons: (1) the center is so organized, clean, and informative with everything clearly labeled so that you feel like you're learning something (there were 3 bins just for glass! Clear, green and amber. With banners telling you why they sort this way and what they do with the glass collected!). (2) they accept and recycle nearly every type of material you can imagine, from many kinds of plastic including plastic bags, aluminum, to styrofoam, to mattresses, to paint, and electronics to chemicals (3) the staff is super friendly and helpful, no judgment when you're not sure which bin something should go to, just directs you to the right place (4) open til 3pm on Saturdays, so that non-morning people like me can still make it in (5) lets you feel good about doing your part to save the our planet, and on a Saturday it was buzzing with dozens of other citizens also doing their part! Love that community of like minded people! Will definitely be back often!! read more

Great place to unload hard to recycle items, but they need a big roll-away bin at the exit for land fill.

Charm is a conscience lifesaver. This is the only place I know where one may drop off recyclables knowing that the items will not go to the landfill to create more ecological problems. read more

Appointment system was easy and allowed for plenty of social distancing while there. Employees and recyclers all wore masks and gloves. Employees were as helpful and friendly as always. Will go back soon and encourage others to do the same. read more

These folks are great. Very courteous, well-trained and they're quick to help out. They're also very well organized and well-staffed. Our city recycling is good, but CHaRM closes the gap on the many odd things we often recycle. This is not a standard recycling center, by the way. It really is a nice operation. Omg this place is so great! They recycle EVERYTHING, even straws, tetrapaks, and even styrofoam!!!! There's also a section to drop off donations and they'll write you a receipt for your taxes. I may have found my new volunteer family!!!! read more

I feel privileged to have CHARM almost in my backyard and have utilized their service for several years. When the pandemic arrived and they changed their operating system, I know that they were struggling to survive. And survive they did. Over the past year+, they have created a new system that is very efficient, down to the establishment of new pathways so that cars don't get backed up. We had all manner of junk from cleaning up,our yard & house: scrap metal, styrofoam, textiles & glass. The drop off was organized & everyone was helpful. For things they couldn't take like scrap brick, they told us how to dispose of it elsewhere. Good recycling experience! read more

Great place for recycling things that are more random. Staff is helpful, drop-off is organized and efficient. Good place. There are sometimes things that they recycle for a period of time then stop doing so (but I understand this depends on what is available to them through various recycling organizations and is not usually under their control). Their not recycling batteries anymore is a bummer. But overall a great resource for recycling! read more

Well organized recycling facility...many cars in line but moved through the drop-off stations within minutes. I made the 20 minute trip down there to specifically drop off a bunch of Styrofoam packing material that most places won't take. When the pandemic winds down, I look forward to having Charm set up a temporary collection day on the north side of town again... read more

All you need to do is make an apppointment and take your recycling to CHaRM! They even take tires, mattresses, and toilets! Don't take your stuff to the landfill where it will still be there in a thousand years! CHaRM recycles them! Get yourself off the couch and do it! Even my plumber had never heard of them. Of course your toilet can be recycled. Do it! read more

I had huge blocks of styrofoam (I recycle small pieces at Publix) which I dropped off at Charm this morning. It was a super-efficient process. I arrived a little early for my appointment and was out in 5 minutes. read more

This is the best, most comprehensive recycling center I have ever patronized. They can recycle virtually anything for free or in some cases a nominal charge. The thought of recycling cigarette butts never even crossed my mind until I saw it at CHaRM. The employees and volunteers are so nice and accommodating and the new COVID friendly system is easy and sensible. If you are an avid recycler and feel it makes a difference this place is for you. I use CHaRM in lieu of curbside because I trust they are doing the right thing. read more

I find this is a very easy place to drop off an incredible variety of hard to recycle materials. The set up at the Hill Street Center is very efficient and easy to use. I live on the northside of Atlanta so there is a drive to get to this location but I find it worth the trip so that much of the stuff I drop off, especially the Styrofoam, does NOT have to go into a landfill. Once the pandemic is over hopeful the once a month drop off site at the parking lot of the 1st Presbyterian Church on Roswell Road will once again be open which is more convenient for me, but until then going to Hill Street location is not as bad as one may think. During CoVID-19 pandemic, Charm began working with appointments. The appointments work extremely well so that there is no overcrowding. It works like clock work and you drive around the circle. You drop off your items are you drive around the circle. There are places in the circle to park if you need more time. They accept so many different items for recycling. See their list at their website. The staff are knowlegeable about various items for recycling and can educate you on what makes the recycling process easier for the recyclers. For example, black styrofoam mucks up the process of recycling styrofoam; don't try to recycle it. They also know of what items Atlanta recycling may just put into the landfill whereas CHaRM would be able to recycle it. I store all my metals for recycling for my monthly trip. No one recycles the plastic wrapping that does not have any stretch to it at all. Just put nonstretchable plastic wrap/bags in the trash instead of making the whole process less efficient by keeping it with the rest of recyclable plastics. You can learn so much from the volunteers. So make your appointment, take your morning coffee and visit with your trunk load! read more

My county only recycles a limited number of items. At CHaRM, you can recycle almost everything. It's clean, organized and very well run. If you want to do something to help our planet, this is one way to do it! read more
