UPDATE: To reply to Charm City Mover's feedback in the simplest of ways: if you need a repair specialist on-call for two decades, then maybe you are handling people's furniture poorly. After looking at my call history: The repair specialist called me on a Friday and said they could come out as scheduled on Saturday. I never scheduled anything in the first place, and one-day notice is unprofessional. I just moved into a new house, I cannot drop everything and tend to this with such short notice. Yes, I did email them and they did ask me for a receipt or some sort of valuation on my lamp. The lamp is 30+ years old from my now-deceased grandfather and a family heirloom at this point. There's a reason I took the care to move it into my new home myself. Yet, it was still broken. Pricing it would be impossible-- thus no receipt followed. And to say "communication is key" is very, very rich. The employees who broke the lamp did not notify me of doing so during the move-- I found it later in the day after they had left, and they obviously had tried to hide the damage. And it was broken in the basement, not "in the hallway" as your response states. Finally, I assure all of the pictures I've attached of damage are from YOUR movers, and they are not a "combination of old and new" scratches. The walls were freshly sanded, painted, and restored before your movers scratched, dinged, and dented them. To have these walls painted were 3x the price of the move, now I will need to spend even more in costly repairs. Thanks! ORIGINAL: I am utterly disgusted with the abysmal service provided by Charm City Movers. My experience with them was a nightmare, and I am compelled to share my grievances to warn others of their poor service. Here's a detailed account of the myriad issues I encountered: Lack of Furniture Protection: Charm City Movers failed to provide even basic protective padding for my furniture items. As a result, virtually none of my belongings were adequately safeguarded during the move. Damage to Leather Couch: Despite supposedly wrapping my leather couch in shrink wrap, they still managed to tear the bottom of it, demonstrating their negligence and lack of care for my belongings. Poor Bed Assembly: Their incompetence extended to the assembly of my bed, which they failed to fully put together. The bed wobbled precariously when I first attempted to use it, revealing that none of the screws were tightened--a glaring oversight on their part. Property Damage: Throughout the move, Charm City Movers carelessly banged into every wall of my apartment and new house, leaving behind a trail of dents, scratches, and scuff marks. Their disregard for property integrity is appalling. Furniture Scratches: Every wood piece of furniture I own was scratched during the move, further highlighting their careless handling and utter lack of respect for my belongings. Repeated Wall Damage: I cannot emphasize enough the extent to which they dinged my walls, leaving them in a deplorable condition that will undoubtedly require costly repairs. Neglect of Personal Items: Even items I moved myself, such as lamps and small tables, were not spared from their incompetence. They managed to break my favorite lamp and attempted to conceal the damage, displaying a shocking lack of honesty and professionalism. Unprofessional Remediation Attempts: When I sought remediation for the damages, their response was utterly unprofessional. They promised to send a "furniture restoration." This person called me on a Saturday saying they'd be out later that day. I had no other prior notice, inconveniencing me further and demonstrating a complete disregard for my time and schedule. And this lack of professionalism led me to believe they'd only ruin my furniture further, so I did not pursue this "restoration" option. In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone considering Charm City Movers to look elsewhere for their moving needs. Their incompetence, negligence, and lack of professionalism have resulted in significant damage and distress, and I would not wish such an ordeal upon anyone else. read more

From beginning to end, this company took care of all our needs. The initial and follow-up phone calls with Felix started to build my confidence in the company. She took her time and explained to me how to make the move as smooth as possible. All possible options were explained. Questions answered professionally. An immediate quote was sent by email covering everything we discussed. In the days leading up to the move, we needed to make a few changes - no additional charges for these changes, staff was very accommodating, and an updated quote was immediately sent via email. The communication was flawless. The day of the move, the movers called when they were on their way. Charm City Movers truck arrived early. The guys - Quinton, Derrick, Moses, and Tank - were simply incredible! All VERY friendly, communicated well, appropriately joked around, and remained professional the entire day. They certainly decreased the stress my wife was having - making her smile and laugh. The guys went through the paperwork with us. Checked out our home and looked at the items to be moved before anything was done. Due to a light rain that morning, they protected all of our floors and furniture. Our 5000 Sq Ft home was packed in the truck within an hour. They worked extremely well as a team. With larger items they worked together, not just to lift and move the furniture, but to ensure our walls, ceilings, and floors remained free from damage. The same time and care was given moving items from the truck into our new home. I couldn't thank Quinton, Derrick, Moses, and Tank enough for all of their hard work. What a great bunch a guys! We gave them drinks and a cash tip for doing such an awesome job. Hell - I even gave Quinton a big man hug. LOL - sorry, Quinton - had to share. After a short conversation with my wife, I gave the Charm City Movers office a personal phone call. Chris listened to me banter on for several minutes about the great service, communication, and experience I had with everyone. The price was incredible. The service was excellent. My daughters move with Charm City Movers turned out to be an extremely good one. I say this because there is nothing worse than moving. The anxiety that's produced meeting timelines, packing, cost and concerns over whether or not the movers will show up all play a large part in making moving hard. I received quotes from 20 + movers. From the very beginning Charm City was refreshing. Felix provided my quote and asked a lot of questions about the move from and move to location. We only had 4 pieces and 10 boxes moved but she asked about the pieces as well. There quote was reasonable and a little negotiable. Felix replied quickly to all my questions through phone and/or email. I received a call the day before from a gentleman in the office, Chris I think - sorry if not correct. The call came in on a Saturday as our move was on Sunday. Chris advised that due to snow he felt the movers would arrive at noon, as we were the second move. The next day at 11:30 we got a call from our crew, Quinton, Moses and Darrell. They said they got caught up in some snow (did I mention this was the week after the blizzard?) and they would be arriving about 1. I was delighted they gave me the notice as my daughter and I made a few more trips of our own. The team arrived at 1:15 and truly never stopped. They hustled and had a queen bed, bureau, vanity and 10 boxes out the door in the driveway to load the truck. They were unable to get the truck into the driveway due to the 4 foot high snow mounds, but they maneuvered the truck to allow cars to pass and loaded from the road. Off we went to the new place where they unloaded in the same quick speed, set up the bed and asked if everything was where we wanted it. They were friendly, efficient and professional. We used Charm City Movers last weekend, and received the same excellent service described in these other reviews! Felix was very responsive and communicative, and quickly returned all my calls to ensure the details were correct. In advance of the quote, she walked through our household items 1 by 1 to get a grasp on what the movers could expect, and also asked questions about how many flights of stairs we had, as the price is different with more flights of stairs. I felt that we got an honest customized quote, and had no surprises on moving day. The movers showed up right on time, and immediately asked us to review our quote. When we realized that there were a few items that we'd already brought to the new house, they reduced the price for those items. Jermaine, Delvin, Bryant, and Moses were a great team that all had specific roles to help them work quickly. They were very polite and professional, and joked around with us and one another which made the experience more entertaining. Hiring movers was the best thing we've ever done! These guys worked very efficiently, and we were in our new house within 3 hours from the start time! They wouldn't let me lift a finger! Charm City Movers has saved my butt with this move this past Sunday. My experience with them was excellent from beginning to end. This was my first time moving with an actual moving company and I had a lot of anxieties about it. Felix was very quick with my free quote and then the lady I was on the phone with was very nice (I'm sorry I forgot your name!) and helpful. I was lucky to get a spot in at the last minute (previously scheduled-for-Saturday mover unfortunately had to cancel the day before our move due to an injury). I was relieved that Charm City Movers was going to be affordable. I liked how thorough their whole process seemed. Finally, there is a confirmation call from Chris the day before the move, which I appreciated because my itinerary had indeed changed since the appt was made. The movers had other clients before me, but arrived on time! Quinton and Travon were my movers and they were wonderful! They were fast but careful with my things. FYI: Quinton is a force to be reckoned with! Their casual personalities mixed with their level of professionalism helped my anxieties about the move go right out the window. Towards the end, they felt like the kind of people I'd want to kick back and relax and be decent human beings with. Moses and his crew, Andrew, Earl and Jvaughn, were my angels! I had booked a moving company 2 months in advance to move us at 9 am as we were to be out of our home by 4:30 pm. We were only moving about 8 blocks but needed assistance with the big furniture and heavy boxes. We were told the day before that they would be running late. The day of the move, they texted at 12:15 pm and said they were not going to be able to make it as delayed in Richmond, VA. As I was running back and forth between houses, I saw a Charm City moving truck parked. I pulled over and told them my situation. They were wrapping up that move & my house was about 4 blocks away. I gave them my contact info. , and they said they'd call when they were finished. Within a half an hour Moses & his crew were at my door! They started the move around 1:30 pm and finished at 5:30 pm. It was truly a miracle! Brought a couch through a window and pulleyed a queen mattress to 2nd floor bedroom window. They knew all the tricks for Baltimore rowhouses. Felix, the coordinator, was fabulous and went out of her way to help me make sure that my move was scheduled and my inventory was correct each time I emailed her as I packed. I had a stress free move with this company and HIGHLY recommend them to you. I will use them if I have to move again in the future. The day of the move, the movers called me 30 minutes prior to their arrival and showed up in the window provided with a positive attitude and great work ethic despite the heat and no power due to a previous storm. Charm City movers were awesome. Felix was fantastic walking me through the setup and costs - she was friendly, professional and made me feel completely at ease. Quinton was the lead on my job - he was organized, thorough, and just plain had it all together. Very organized, extremely professional and made this whole process much easier. I had just had the house painted and not a scuff on the walls. Everything arrived in the same condition it left in, and they took apart and put everything back together without any extra pieces. (Which is what always happens when I do this stuff myself). I had planned on having them move the big stuff, and taking care of the little stuff myself. I had done about half of the smaller items and decided when they started moving to have them take just about all of it. The price adjustment was very little, and TOTALLY worth it. I was sold as soon as I learned about Charm City's pricing model - pay by the piece. Every moving company that charges by the hour leads me to wonder, "what is their incentive to work quickly rather than drag their feet and get another 1-2 hours, or $400, out of my move?" With Charm City, I knew at the beginning of the day how much I'd be paying - and it was half of the other guys' estimates! Chris at the head office was super helpful in getting my moving day scheduled as well as making additions to the order as I found additional things I wanted moved. Jerome, Jermaine, and Derrick showed up on time and were awesome from start to finish. They were pleasant, courteous, and extremely careful with all our things. This was the best moving experience I've ever had. I had never hired movers before; I just had friends and family help, but I'd accumulated more stuff since my last move and didn't want to go through the hassle of renting a truck and trying to recruit people to help again. Using Charm City Movers was so worth it, and I thought they were reasonably priced too. I liked that they charge by the number and type of items you have, instead of by an hourly rate. Jimmy, Danny, and Quinton were all great, and personable too, which made the experience less stressful. They were extremely efficient and fast, and careful not to damage anything. They arrived a few minutes early and had my one-bedroom apartment loaded in the truck in about 20 minutes. Also customer service was great. First time Yelp poster - just goes to show you the service was THAT good that I had to speak up. Would HIGHLY recommend this company based on my experience! I was moving a 1 BR from Baltimore to DC. I mostly had the movers move the bigger items and about 20 boxes, the rest of the smaller stuff I did myself. In all, it cost just under $800, plus a well deserved tip! I received an accurate quote over the phone, got an offer to change my appointment time to be earlier when they had a cancellation (happily accepted!), and they called the day before to again confirm my appointment. Day of move, 3 movers showed up about 30 minutes early. Movers were very professional and quick! They had my 1BR in the truck in under an hour! Charm City Movers really came through for my wife and I for our move. Our first move date with this company was scheduled for a Wednesday and they called the day before to confirm the time and itinerary of the move. The crew that came were great, fast (but careful), efficient, and were upbeat and funny. Then my wife and I unfortunately overestimated what we could do on our own and I needed some more help. I called Charm City Movers back and spoke to Chris and he was able to get us back on the schedule today last minute. We had two of the same guys from the other day and two new guys. Used Charm City Movers again for our next move since the last time working with them was so pleasant and hassle-free. They were hired for a move on 7/18/2021 at 8am and the movers were on time. We had a super long portion of our sectional sofa that the movers were unable to place on the second floor of our new home to no fault of their own. However, I applaud the movers for their determination to do their job to try to place all of our furniture in their designated places. I've recommended CCM to everybody I know. The owners are quick with responses, The movers hired for the day are professional, and the service is impeccable. I was hesitant to use Charm City because of the few negative reviews I found here. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and expressed my concerns to Felix. She promised to note on my paperwork to send me someone gentle and respectful that would take good care of my belongings. She did just that. Moses and his team were very professional, respectful of me and my furniture and even made me aware of some water damage I hadn't known about. They also had to navigate a steep narrow basement stairwell, but didn't scratch a thing. Everything went smoothly and positively so I am here to tell my story and add to the good reviews.I also like that they charge per item since I was moving less than 15 large pieces and no boxes or other items. With so many horror stories out there regarding moving companies, it was quite a relief to find such good reviews for Charm City Movers. Our experience with Charm City was great. Felix and Tammy in the office worked with me to specifically identify what I would have them move. With that information, they provided an estimate and I was not charged $1 more at the end of the move. Felix called the day before the move and the day of the move (during the move) to make sure everything was going ok.
