If it's not for fashion, I need to be comfortable...in comes Charm City Run. My daughter wanted new sneakers to help with her flat foot, lifts at the gym, and walking. Upon entering, we were greeted and were asked about our needs. I forget the rep's name, but she was so kind. She did a walk test with my daughter, to look at her stride and feet placement and determine the best shoe recommendation. She also brought out the old school sizing tool (idk what to call it)...it's silver and you put your foot on it for proper sizing. Baby girl is a 10. Meanwhile, mama is a 6.5. Don't judge, please. Anyway, my daughter ended up with a Brooks sneaker...sole is thick as hell, but she said she felt like she was walking on water. The customer service was great. I really like this store because it has everything. Gels, belts, vests, salt chews, and of course shoes. There are also ways to get deals if you purchase certain quantities and they have great sales! As for the service it is hit or miss unfortunately. Some people know how to help if you're looking for shoes, some get defensive since the website contains out of date information on technology/methodology to select shoes. I do think the service has gone down over the years as they've expanded unfortunately but if you're a regular you should be good to go vs a novice getting into running the store associates can be intimidating. read more

Great place to get running and athletic gear they have a wide selection of brands ranging from Nike to new balance. they also have a treadmill in this location where you can try on your sneakers and see if they really fit and feel comfortable while walking on the treadmill. They have two floors the second floor has fitting rooms and more apparel. The first floor is mainly nutritional items, sneakers, Garmin watches, Goodr sunglasses and some women apparel. they are pretty well staffed and the service is friendly. The items are a bit on the pricier side. They do have a sales rack upstairs, but there isn't that much inventory at this location as opposed to other Charm City Run locations, such as the one in Fells Point. read more

Happened to stop in on a busy day when they were hosting packet pickup for a race, but the employees were all so friendly and welcoming! I was hoping to get some guidance on new running shoes and Tom was amazing at giving me recommendations, allowing me to try on pairs he recommended based on my walking form, and he didn't make me feel rushed at all despite the crowds. On 6.12.21 my cousins and my godson brought me here as a surprise to treat me to a pair of Hoka shoes. My cousin's wife had a pair of Hoka's and swore by how comfortable they were which I truly have been looking for. I have been on a hunt for a good pair of tennis shoes. I needed something that didn't cause any shock to my shins or knees. I workout from timt to time and needed something that was good for walking and moderate aerobics. We received the best service from each customer service rep. The have everything from shoes to running tops and bottoms. Not a lot of size choices for some tops. What a disappointment! I've bought quite a few pair of running shoes over the years at the Timonium store and was always satisfied with the fitting process and selection. The people who worked there would recommend shoes/brands that I wouldn't have considered. Fast forward to now. I needed a new pair of running shoes, went to Charm City and was truly appalled at the incompetence of the person helping me. He had no clue as to what brands would work for my feet - I had to name some shoe brands and he couldn't find anything in my size or recommend anything. I walked out of there very depressed because there aren't many running shoe stores in the Baltimore area. Uncomfortable shopping experience, will not return. My wife and I tried to leisurely browse around the store, but there was constantly one or more employees eyeballing us as we went. Then, as I was trying on gym shorts in the fitting room, one of the employees demanded my wife leave the dressing room because only a single person is allowed in at a time (the employee's tone also did not help here, we are not teenagers, we do not look like teenagers, do not speak to us like we are misbehaving children). After that encounter and then increased eyeballs afterward, we really weren't motivated to buy much. Love this store. I needed supportive shoes for my plantar fasciitis and heel spurs and my podiatrist recommended Brooks shoes. This store carries so many Brooks shoes alongside other comparable brands such as Hoka and Altra. It's a small place so appointments online are recommended but they do accept walk ins. They also have a reward incentive which is helpful because the shoes aren't cheap. The employees are informative and helpful and not pushy. read more

Whenever I'm in Baltimore, I always like stopping here mostly because I love that they sell unique crab-inspired Under Armour running gear and seem to frequently change the designs for different holidays. Besides that, it's good to go when they have sales: I scored a sweet deal on a pair of Brooks and they're practically never on sale but are my ultimate favorite running shoe. I'm also a fan of scouring the sale rack in the back; ya never know what kinda goodies you'll find back there. I typically don't need help picking out my shoes, but when I did need assistance in finding a good sandal to help out with my plantar fasciitis when walking around at home (barefoot was hurting like hell), they led me in the right direction with a sweet pair of Superfeet sandals. I don't think I can ever go back to flip-flops without arch support, because these are the jam! My feet are so happy in them, and I've had them for a long time (wearing both outside and inside) and they have minimal wear still. Definitely a fan of this store! read more

My husband and I came to the store so that my husband could purchase a new set of running shoes. Upon our arrival, no one offered to help. We went to the back of the store and some lady told us she would be right with us. Keep in mind, customers who came after us were being attended to. I've been coming to this store for almost 20 years. I've never had such poor service. There were at least 3 people who could have helped and didn't. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Baltimore is way overdue for their very own Charm City Run store. We are all thrilled that the store is finally open in the new McHenry Row location. Like all of their stores, they will do a great job in matching your running style and foot to the proper shoe, and they also have a great selection of running gear and accessories. They also moved quickly to become part of the neighborhood with a Thursday evening run group around the harbor. The group meets at 6:15 currently (it might move back a little with the extended daylight hours). Baltimore has a huge running community, so this is a great addition to the city, and I am sure they will quickly become a must-stop location in Baltimore for all the runners. This location is just OK. I went into the store looking for shoes to help relieve shin splints while running. I was instructed to take off my own shoes and walk around the store. The sales associate then brought me two shoes which felt great yet I wanted in another color. They didn't carry the other colors I suggested and they had to be ordered. I was then told the price which was $30 more expensive than what the brand and competitors were selling it for. This style of shoe is discontinued and the new style is coming out in August yet they're charging the full price? There's no price matching and I was told that they only did store credit for returns. So: -Low variety of shoes -Expensive -Store credit for returns -Can't return the shoes after they've been worn (meaning if you suffer from shin splints or any other type of injury, you're unable to really test out the shoe to see if it works for you) Save your time and money and head to Road Runner Sports. read more

Just left Charm City Run with two pairs of shoes. Our entire family gets their shoes there. I struggled with plantar fasciitis for over a year...necessitating inserts..so I decided to get a proper fitting. The staff recommended the Brooks Ghost and I have had 0 problems with my feet since with NO Inserts! I've worn that shoe for years now. I also have flat feet and love to wear heels. I can choose a great heel but when it comes to running shoes I can't and Footlocker and DTLR just doesn't cut it. My latest choice in running shoes were awful and my feet were hurting to the point I decided to stop running until I got a shoe that is for me. I did my research and honestly choose CCR since I've seen them at marathons and based on the location. Every specialty store IMO is pricey so I was prepared to spend maximum of $200 for shoes that will last. I was worried about being judged for not being an avid runner or the typical athletic person (I've read stories) but I was not. I went in and was immediately greeted. I talked to the sales associate about my concerns and then we immediately starting my fitting which in my case consisted of me walking and him measuring my foot. He brought out several pairs of shoes, I tried them on and was happy with my selection. As far as my cost, I paid $120 for my shoes. Which are cheaper than Jordans or other non functional sneakers. I went home after I purchased the shoe and found that it was the same price online at multiple shoe sites as CCR. I do like that they give you $25 off your next purchase after you spend $250. The shoes provide me with the support I need to get through my workout. I also appreciated the sales associate explaining when to replace my shoes and how to tell. Based on my use, my shoes should last me at least a year. I would def go to them again for the customer service, the genuine concern and the reward incentive for my next pair of running shoes (hopefully in a year). read more

I actually run with them on Thursday nights at 6:30p pretty regularly and can say that they're much cooler than a lot of the other running shops / groups around the area - not snobby or act like they're elitist runners or anything of that sort, just really down to earth people who enjoy running and promoting it in the community. Prices as far as running shops go are extremely fair and everyone in the shop is very knowledgeable. Great store. Went there, they made me run, looked at my feet and step, brought me 5-6 pairs to choose from, stayed with me the whole time I was trying them on, no sales pressure absolutely! I ended up with two pairs of great kicks, plus got some running socks. These shoes are so good, they run for you! Price was not bad at all, as a matter of fact I came back home and checked Zappos and shoes.com, comes about the same. I love local stores and their awesome service at the store! When it is time to get new gear or clothing/shoes, I go to Charm City Run, always. People come there to get comfortable walking shoes too, any age. I saw some 80 year old ladies (in tip top shape!) and 9 year old kids getting their feet classy, everyone is happy and everyone has a great sales person by their side! Return Policy is a problem !!!!! So I just moved back to Baltimore. My GF decided she would like to take up running. So WE are now running. The problem is that she has a very narrow foot and I have a very wide foot. We stopped by Charm city run in Henry Row on late Sunday evening to get some shoes. As first time customers the staffer was very pleasant and helpful in picking out shoes. But the fit was okay but not great. As we were checking out I mentioned that we where going to go to a few other stores that were opened later to see if we could find a better fit. At no time did he mention the return policy nor was it posted or on the receipt . If he had we would have held off on the purchase until we found the right fit or maybe special order a pair of shoes. Long story short Monday afternoon we found shoes that fit perfectly at another store. I went to return the shoes we brought (less then 24 hours before) and was told of the return policy. I just think Charm City run should be up front about the return policy and a little less "shady" especially since we mention shopping around for a better fit. read more

This is our hometown running store. They have helped me get all the gear for my fiancé and myself. The store has free running events, shoe trial events, yoga for runners, etc to help you stay in shape and ensure you don't get hurt. My fiancé has loved the marathon training group. They also have 5k and start running training groups to help motivate you. The customer service is just right. I've finally picked up those running shoes that I had been talking about in my previous review. Still not quite "there" as far as running is concerned, but I'm walking a LOT more than I had been and my NBs finally bit the dust. So I went there last week and talked to a professional (and I have no doubt that he was professional), who then had me walk up and down, run on a treadmill, and made several recommendations. I ended up with a pair of Saucony Omni 12s due to extreme overpronation - and after a week of having them, I can only say that my feet feel much better, I'm using muscles I never knew I had, and my back no longer hurts. The shoes were 120 dollars - for me, a staggering price point, but for the relief I've felt in them this past week, well worth the expense. Charm City Run continues to treat me professionally, despite the fact that I'm not "in the sport" yet. I have gotten encouragement from the running community here to keep practicing and keep trying, which makes all the difference in the world to me. I'm considering signing up for a training group soon. If you're at all interested in running, this is the place to be. And the "group runs" in the neighborhood are to be expected - this is one of the locations where training is held. Perhaps if one is walking their dog, they ought to join in and run - I'm sure the community would welcome them as warmly as they have me. Highly recommended. read more

This little store is right next to Nautilus diner in Timonium. I disagree with the reviewer who said it's hard to find, the sign is large and visible. Parking is easy. The sales people, while young, were extremely helpful. I had gone to Holabird sports previously because their prices are a bit better and tried on 7 or 8 pairs of shoes before being told my "foot structure" (I have tiny but super wide feet) was just a complicated fit and it would be best to settle for some running shoes that just felt too big. When I went to Charm City, the young man (I almost said kid! I apologize) asked me to walk and then run without shoes on. He then ran to the back room and returned in 5 minutes or so with 2 pairs of shoes that he said had a wide base even in their non-wide sizes. They both fit and felt great. Minus one star because they are pretty expensive. They may be in the norm for running stores, I don't know. I did find the running shoes I wanted a lot cheaper on the manufacturer's website. They have apparel and other neat stuff which is just overpriced. The service and quality makes up for it. read more

My daughter and I teamed up to try to get me a Garmin Forerunner 45S. After extensive research we came across a very good price on the Charm City Run website. My daughter thought that she would be able to go to one of the stores to pick it up but after calling a few locations she learned that they did not have them in stock at the store. Instead she ordered it online and the order was accepted. 2 days later she received a notice saying that the order status was "REFUNDED". Upon calling she found out that they didn't have the 45S in any color even though they were all on the website. Instead she was told that she could get a more expensive one. Charm City Run has been my go to running store since I started my amateur running career a few years ago. I have no regrets. I've tried some other stores, but my favorite is CCR. The best thing about CCR stores are the organized training groups. I've done them more or less continuously for a few years. They have top notch running coaches that get to know you and your running style so you can be sure that when you inevitably need a new pair of shoes, you'd be getting the right thing. The groups are a great way to meet people too. I've met some great friends this way. We're all crazy runners that say things like, "we're *only* doing 5 miles today." This is all facilitated by the greatest running store in town. In my experience, CCR has a great selection of shoes, even with my larger than normal size. And, if they don't, they can order from one of the other stores around the region. Did I mention customer appreciation? CCR gives training group members 10% off all retail purchases. Since COVID I was supporting the running store and races virtually. I decided to support Charm City and received a scratch off card for 25% off and a $10 gift card. When I reached out the race director/events person I was supposed to be able to apply all coupons to the on line store get free shipping. Then I get an email saying the scratch off is only used in store. Yes, it's only a few dollars savings but when the company wouldn't approve what I was promised, I decided that I didn't want to do business with this group. read more

Charm City Run has a great showroom for selections of men's and women's running shoes, as well as any amenity you could think of for training. One of their staff kindly greeted me and helped size my feet for a good investment in some Brooks running shoes. These are certainly pricey shoes for what I'm used to making due with for half marathons and training ($60-70 pairs of New Balance usually, here I spent $250 total on 2 pairs), but the value of the shoes cannot be understated. Superior comfort, the right size, and a stability-build to help maintain my gait, which the employee kindly assessed for a period of time. They had attention to detail and made sure I got the product I was looking for. And the shoes still feel great to run in weeks later, so I'm happy they helped me make a good choice! read more

Great workout clothes draws me right into Charm City Run along with the colorful and bright running shoes. I would like to see prices next to all the shoes so I know how much they cost but I guess I already have an idea of how much they cost. And runners are supposed to be focused on how well a shoe works for the type of running and feet we have and not on the price so I guess that works. I went with the awesome Brooks pure connect shoes this time in a fun dark maroon with a splash of yellow. They're the medium support out of the pure line Brook recently came out with and I so far I love them. I'm not quite sold on the Newton's yet just because of the price and the colors don't quite grab me just yet. Whether you're a beginner preparing for short course, or someone who is preparing for a marathon, you can find what you're looking for at Charm City Run. The employees here are definitely helpful when it comes to deciding which shoes fit based on your foot structure and running style. I had a female employee (forgot her name unfortunately) who helped me in deciding to purchase the Asics GT-2150. This is after trying on two other pairs of running shoes based on my running style. Also to note, if you bring in your old shoes, you can receive a 10% discount on your total purchase. I brought mines in and my total purchase price for my new shoes were discounted the full 10%. Another cool thing that Charm City Run has is a list where you can sign up to be reminded when to purchase new running shoes. You can set the reminder based on a future date (recommended 6 months or 300 miles of shoe use). There are other things you can get here like Heart Rate Monitors, stopwatches, apparel, running clothes, etc. I definitely recommend coming here for your running needs. read more
