I initially was very pleased with Charter when I first had it installed, but after about a year or two, the cable tv signal started messing up, and my DVR would randomly not record programs I had set the DVR to record. I stayed home three times for service calls, and the first two did not fix the problem, and on the third, they didn't come out because the follow-up number that the customer service rep wrote down for me was wrong, thus they cancelled the appointment because i did not verify the appointment in their stupid system of appointment verification system. And then the problem even got worse with the signal reception, with more missed programs, which is really heartbreaking when you are trying to watch a TV series in sequence. In my repeated calls to customer service attempting to get some resolution to the problem was an ongoing joke, and I think I have spent more time listening to hold music more than any other experience I have had. I have been through the pre-programmed steps with the customer service underlings, I can almost repeat their rehearsed talking points verbatim. The two managers I actually was able to talk to did not help at all. The first was rather unfriendly and unhelpful in general, and the second was very pleasant, but, in the end, had the same results. In summary, I am canceling my cable and going to give AT&T U-verse a try. Maybe they will give a damn about keeping customers. Not sure. But I cannot keep wasting my time with a company that is so incompetent and unresponsive to customer needs. read more

God I wish I could put no stars on this. I literally can't get anyone on the phone. I understand they are closed now but my internet is out and this isn't the first time that it's happened. They have turned off our service once before and we have been with them for two year. I literally do not have internet and my cable box isn't turning on. Okay so let's begin. We moved from denham Springs Louisiana and had cox cable. Their stuff was pretty good never kicked off the Internet and only minimal dvr issues. Charter. Are you kidding me???? 180$ for this??? We get kicked off the Internet around 10 pm and stay off till about 6am. Really. I'm 19 home from college for winter break and like to play ps4 and simply stream YouTube. I'm so grateful my father upped my Verizon cell data so I can at least stream youtube. When I'm at home I don't even use my wifi on my phone. This so so unacceptable on so many levels. I will be calling tomorrow to say I'm not paying for the Internet. Why pay 60$ a month for Internet to not work. Please God let at&t u verse come to my area. This is stupid ridiculous. And the cable tv itself. Good god, it's just horrid. Glitchy as hell and can't even hold a signal in the living room. Not to mention the cable guy who installed our cable gave us used big ass dinosaur dvrs that can't even fit on the shelves. Sadly there isn't an option for zero stars. I switched to save some money. The channels look good for the most part, the installation went good, but the equipment is utter crap. I went from a DVR that recorded over 200 hours of HD to one that records 21 hours. The guide is almost unusable. You can't tell what channels you have and you don't. It's difficult to navigate when pausing and watching live tv or recorded shows. You have no options to skip ahead. I've had the service for 6 days, and I'm calling to switch tomorrow. I would rather pay $50 more a month then have to deal with this. read more

They deserve no stars at all. A one star requirement is giving charter too much credit. They mail ads saying that they offer services in the area you live in but when you pay your money to get the services, they tell you they can't give you their services because they don't have a cable line that runs long enough to your house?They also said they could give me services but I also have to pay for construction costs??? Had cable and Internet with charter for about 8 months. Lots of cable TV outages and just got tired of calling them and waiting for someone to come out to fix it. I decided to drop the TV services and get a off air antenna and just stick with their internet service. I have to say their internet is fast and reliable but the TV side is awful. I'm very happy with the off air antenna and receive 32 channels of free HD TV. It seems that charters reliability is really dependent on where you live. Certain areas of town have excellent service but myself living out of city limits their TV was less than reliable. read more

My wife and I just moved to Hammond, LA for my work. After leaving Topeka, KS I didnt believe that any thing could be worse than our AT&T service there. I was wrong. When my wife was at home while I was working during the day, she complained about slow internet speeds, and lost connections. Although, in the evenings when I got home, I never experienced any issues....Until I was involved in a work related accident last week and have been forced to stay home during the day. WOW...my wife was not joking. This is the slowest, laggiest, and most unreliable internet connection possibly ever! All day it constantly kicks me off the internet, sometimes for hours at a time. The fist time it happened I was scared that all of my devices were broken, however, that was not the case...it was just an unbelievably bad internet connection. Sadly, I understand why AT&T seems to have a monopoly on cell phone service, and internet...Because its the least terrible of all the options. And for me to give AT&T that much credit is really saying something. read more
