We are very happy with this hospice care facility since last summer. They set up everything at home within an hour while we were wondering how we're going to take care a 90+ years old pathiet at home without any experience when ER doctor said there's nothing they could help the pathiet anymore. Since then, they had been very helpful, loving and caring with the pathiet. Luckily the pathiet doesn't need a lot medication but whatever doctor Rx was filled, we got it immediately and delivered to the door. Their caregiver, RN and caseworker with us were all super nice and friendly, we are very pleased their services. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Keep up a good work! :-) read more

My spouse passed away last month ( October, 2012). When he was still breathing and snoring very loud, I felt that there was something wrong with him. I called Charter Hospice three times in 2.5 hours. i asked a man who helped me on the phone why it took him too long to send someone over to help my husband. He asked me if my husband was dying. I answered, " I do not know. I need someone here now to check on him." He said, " If he is already dead, so it does not matter how long it takes someone to get there. I am trying to locate a nurse now." Two and a half hours later, a nurse came to confirm that my husband had passed away. I asked her how long ago he passed. She said, " about four or five minutes before I came." I said, " that means if you had come early, you may have been able to save his life." She said, " He was dying when I was on the way here." My wife just passed away from early on-set alzheimer's at Somerford Pl. a wonderful alzheimer's assisted leaving facility in Redlands Ca. Most of their end of life patients were using Charter hospice. Charter was the third, and by far the best of the 3 hospices my wife was in. They were Incredible, to say the least! My Dad was treated as family...The RNs, LVNs, HHAs, Social worker and Chapline treated him with respect and were so caring and compassionate...they worked with me on all asspects of his care. This service was the absolute WORST! We have had experience with 2 other hospice providers in the last 6 years. Both were kind, caring, compassionate. Because Charter was not local to Palm Desert, it took l o n g to get things. A different mattress was ordered for my father-in-law. The wrong kind was delivered twice. He finally got it the DAY he died. I have other horror stories that make me so angry. I wish I had been able to change companies so my dear dear father in law could have passed away peacefully. He was in such distress. Long story, but we had to DEMAND liquid morphine when he was no longer able to swallow pills. That took 1/2 day..... BEWARE!!! Try Family Hospice of the Desert or Vitas. This is our second occasion to utilize the services of Charter Hospice. First was for my father 6 years ago and they were perfect in every way. Compassionate, responsive, and there for us at every turn. Because of our previous experience, when we needed Hospice services for our beloved Aunt, we again turned to Charter. Once again, every person at every step of the way went out of their way to provide the care and support needed for our Aunt and our family. The rep that helps you get started, Aaron literally replied LOL when I asked him to send paperwork again because my father passed away. LOL? Pretty much describes the professionalism that this company offered. Called me on a Thursday that my father had hours left to live. Friday he died at 3pm and fortunately the facility contacted me to let me know because Charter didn't call me until 2 hours after. Look for other options. Any other options. read more

words cannot express how bad, incompetent, horrible, pitiful and horrendous this place is! broken promises, late on arrival, tardy in delivery, non-informative to other staff, seriously, why do you exist? what benefit does your staff get from a type of service that hardly caters to any sick patient? what sort of pay does the staff get to want to continue doing this and making themselves look shameful for every tardy visit or broken commitment they make to you on the phone? they lie every time they say they will be at your place -- one hour late, 2 hours late, misinformed! it has no positive contribution to the people if you can't fulfill your end of the job! this is without a doubt the worst-run business i have ever, ever experienced in all my life. it's a extremely 0% 0-star, 0-rate, less-than-zero service! i have been holding so much patience for a week - day by day, call by call getting everything late from a request... if you're going to tell us an eta be honest and be prompt on the eta! they're stabbing themselves in the gut every single time they fail to do this... do not! do not! do not go here for hospice care! the worst service i've ever ever experienced. horrible! read more

If your loved one is at home and you will be the one dispensing their medications and giving them their care , hospice w work for you. If your loved one is in a nursing facility, PLEASE .. DO NOT PUT THEM ON HOSPICE !! Let the nursing facility ALONE be the ones giving the care. This is my experiences with hospice.... In 2012 my husband was diagnosed with colon and bladder cancer the hospital mentioned hospice to me , before this I have never heard of hospice. I was signed up for hospice .. I cared for my husband in our home hospice came out and helped me greatly , unfortunately I cannot remember their name. Everyone from the nurses to the social worker , Joanne was so helpful and supportive. (This is in home care only)! 8 year's later, my brother who is terminally ill has been put on three different hospice's in the last 8 months. Charter was one , Seasons hospice another. They are inhumane I want to make very clear to everyone that if you have a loved one or just anyone that you care about do not put them on hospice if you cannot monitor everything that is being given to them... and all of their care. Basically hospice medicates you until you die. The sad part is when hospice first signs a patient up and when the patient dies is when they make the most money :( . So you see , the care in between doesn't matter it's almost like they come out grudgingly 2 the facility to care for the patient.. ( MONTCLAIR MANOR IS AN EXAMPLE. furthermore if your loved one is in a nursing home or some type of facility and is on hospice the facility basically wants nothing to do with them they don't take care of them they call out hospice to do it. STAY AWAY from hospice unless your loved one lives at home with you. Hospice will bring out all medications and anything else that is needed and your loved one will be cared for by YOU,not hospice. The nursing staff is amazing. We are able to talk with a nurse 24/7. Everyone is so kind and do I great job. Charter Hospice is horrible. I am writing this review to try to help and protect other families from reaping the horrific experiences my family endured. Charter Hospice lacks efficiency, use of appropriate medical procedures, consistency, organization and seem to be over their heads in trying to cover referred patients in their enormous geographical areas. They are completely unprofessional and treated us with no compassion. They constantly change staff, are incompetent, and the company only seems to care about the money. As a topper to their horrible practices and procedures, the WRONG cause of death was entered by Charter Hospice in error on the death certificate!! Do NOT USE Charter Hospice. Ask your doctor for another referral, one which he/she has been personally involved with and knows that your family member will receive the appropriate care and services. Charter's Public Relations Department is HUGE and are trying to drum up business everywhere! ($$$$$$) Unfortunately, my family doctor fell prey to their tactics. Be careful and choose an appropriate Home Hospice agency. There are many good hospices out there.........Charter Hospice, located in Colton, CA is not one of them. read more

The absolute worse Home Health Care company. Please think twice before placing your loved one in their care. My grandmother was placed on Hospice care with this facility and since being in their care they have not lived up to any of the services they promised. My grandmothers care has suffered as the result of the company being understaffed. At times it took multiple hours to get someone here to assist us when my grandmother was in need. The staff (nurses and management) have also been rude and condescending with my family members as well in our time of need. We were promised that someone would come to help a few nights a week with care and it was not followed through with whatsoever. We have received inconsistent care for my ailing grandmother. The point of this care for my grandmothers condition is to ensure that she is comfortably cared for. This has not been the case with the services of care we have received from Charter If you care for family member and wish for their last days of care to be of ease and support DO NOT CHOOSE CHARTER HOSPICE! read more

As my Dad was declining, I researched several organizations who provide Hospice services in the Palm Desert area. The nursing staff at both Eisenhower Hospital and Emeritus senior living knew them and highly recommended them. With several hours of "interviewing" the various companies for my Mom and my siblings, we chose Charter. They had other patients at the same home, and everyone praised them. I am so glad we chose Charter for my Dad who passed in total peace in January 2012. From the first chat with the biz sales gal, (within hours of my call back she was at the hospital to meet with me) we encountered nothing but professionalism and sincere care for him, and, our family. His primary care tech was such a sweetheart and professional he really loved her, and told me so. My Mom loved her as well, and most importantly she felt "he was in good hands, waiting to go see Jesus." She still checks in on my Mom, and BB makes bereavement calls also from Charter. Charter handled all the details and ordering of equipment (one of the medical supply companies, (not Charter) did deliver an incorrect bed--but, believe you me--, Charter was all over it and had it corrected immediately. We were impressed and recommend Charter to any family having to face all the details required while losing a loved one. We trusted Charter and we were not let down. Superb. read more

======CLOSED======Money driven company. Changed nurses so many times we could not ever get to know any of them. The nurses had to go as fast as they could because they always had to get to one of their next patients-which they said usually ran about 10-14 a day. The co. changed supplies, like diapers, to this cheap kind which leaked all over and ended up causing my mom to get a rash. Then they changed the medications. Started not paying for certain ones because they said it was not on their "formulary". Some of the staff was very nice, but the company is clearly only in this business for the money. Luckily, I heard they were CLOSED in Dec or Jan of this year. I think they are still seeing some patients but I hope not. The patient care is the LAST thing on this company's mind. read more
