The fact that they don't have the courtesy to give you notice or even ask me if there was something I could clear up for them is inexcusable. The cashiers check process was also pretty straightforward and I was able to get in and out within 10 minutes without even setting an appointment. I think a lot of other banking institutions are moving to a model where there is less interaction with the associates and more electronic transactions, but it seems Schools First at least has a system in place that allows for the people interaction part and great customer support. It kind of reminds me of AAA, except AAA has ridiculous wait times for their in-person support.

Extremely disappointed with the mortgage underwriting team at OCFCU. Despite providing clear…read moredocumentation and citing specific Fannie Mae guidelines (B3-3.7-02) regarding business cash flow, the underwriting team ghosted me for a week, and their manager Monica Partida refused to apply standard industry add-backs, resulting in a wrongful denial. OCFCU went back on their word after I was promised by my loan officer Jennie Jacobson. that OCFCU would apply standard industry add-backs to my income. While she promised to use standard industry add-backs to secure my application (and Hard Credit Pull), they then fundamentally changed the "rules" during underwriting to deny the loan. Indeed, the entire culture at OCFCU is decayed with failed communication at each level. Even after escalating my credit appeal to the executive board, I was ghosted for two weeks with zero accountability or rebuttal. The executive board (Kathy Jumper, Donald Carazo and Jeff Harper) never sent me a single message acknowledging my escalated complaint and appeal. My appeal was affirmed and singed by OCFCU fourteen days after the fact and coincidentally the very same day I told them: "Too late, I will be publishing my bad experience with OCFCU online." Although, instead of simply emailing me an update, they claimed to have snail-mailed me the response to my appeal--nothing was ever received in my mailbox. If you are self-employed or have a complex income, save your credit score and go to a lender that actually understands modern secondary market requirements. UPDATE (May 13, 2026): After escalating this matter to the Executive Board and the NCUA, the Chief Lending Officer Jeff Harper personally intervened to make right on the misrepresentation of underwriting standards. The Credit Union has since facilitated the removal of the hard credit inquiry. While I appreciate the eventual accountability from leadership, I do believe the initial process for self-employed members remains flawed. 3 stars for the resolution, 1 star for the experience.

Several weeks later Wells Fargo unlawfully removed funds from my account. Once a cash transaction processes it's final. Terrible incompetent service. Bank anywhere else. Mistakes happen but you make it right for the customer. I have given Wells Fargo months to make it right. I'd prefer not to sue, but it's getting to the point for their gross incompetence.

Odd review for me - who writes a review about a bank? No one, but me and the three other people…read moreposted here. lol I'm motivated to write because of our experience with Santos Fernando Aloi. We went in for a home equity loan and had spoken with some random person on the phone. They'd assured us that our current loan would be closed out, paid off, and a new one opened in its place. Didn't happen. When we went into sign with Santos, they'd just extended the current line. We didn't realize it would mean much, so we didn't care. But Santos said we could get a better rate with the original plan. So, he took the time to explain that and work with us over the course of a couple of weeks to get the loan type and amount that would get us the best rate. He didn't have to do that. He could've taken advantage of our naïveté and coasted through doing little work. Instead, he chose to make his job harder to give us quality service. You don't see that kind of commitment very often anymore.

I have a POA (Power of Attorney) and for over a month I have no one return any of my calls or emails. Now, today they tell me their lawyers will not except my POA and give me no explanation as to why? I have used that same POA to gain access to my dad's accounts at Chase and Bank America. Meanwhile, my dad's medical bills are piling up! When I asked Kevin the Branch Manager to ask their attorney's to be more specific as to why they won't accept it, his response was "I am not an attorney" and literally hung up on me!! No help at all to try and figure out what I need to do on my end to get them what they need. Again, Chase and Bank of America accepted the SAME POA within 4 days!!!
