He does, in fact, have a boss At least if you're contracting an out of state move. To say this was one of the most violating experiences of my life isn't an understatement. We only contracted them for a local move and storage. When we shopped around, because their interstate quote was high, they became aggressive. They started charging retaliatory fees, refusing to release our things, amid constant harassment. This was only resolved after contacting the attorney general and the CEO of their interstate partner company on the advice of counsel. I'd like to mention I have proof of every interaction. In writing. If you care below is the breakdown of what happened. I was living in Ferrisburgh Vermont and every attempt to contract something like U-box or Pods was met with my address was out of their service areas. On a recommendation from my contractor I went with a local mover, Chase moving. Our family planned to travel for the year so we were going to move our things to a U-Haul storage and have them move our things wherever we ended up when the year was done. Chase moving and storage for the local move was wonderful and knowing our plans mentioned they also did storage, would we like to bundle it? Sure, why not. We pre paid the year. But spoke specifically about the fact we'd shop for the best price when it came to an interstate move, Ron acknowledge this later in writing. Due to our dog not handling traveling well we cut our year short. I contacted Chase and they were responsive, sent over a quote. After a little research I found their quote was significantly above the national average for weight and size. I shopped around like a responsible consumer Upon telling him he laughed at me, told me he was going to charge me 1500 in warehouse handling fees and so he'd still be cheaper. I would like to mention warehouse handling fees were in my original contract. Due to his dishonest dealings and disrespect I decided to continue with the new company. Enter retaliatory fees, sabotage, and harassment. Ron tried to say I was a silly woman who was ignorant and didn't realize brokers could be dishonest. He didn't know in writing my quote exactly reflected his for weight and size. They had quoted be based off his exact measurement of the move. Which of course, I have in writing. The other company alleges he never let them see the move, told them it was twice the size. Said he quoted me 2K less than he did and I'd been difficult and trying to hurt his business. They charged me 1800 dollars for showing up. So that's 1800 from them, an additional 1500 from him. In writing he told 3 different stories from his side for why they didn't pick my things up. He then sent me an inflated quote more than his initial quote and gave me less than 24 hours to accept. I didn't. He then said I couldn't pick up my things myself due to insurance reasons, and my contractor couldn't pick up my things despite having the insurance he requested. This is about when I contacted outside regulatory bodies. After I did then came the harassment from his office manager. She told me I owed money for monthly storage. Then ILLEGALLY charged my card without authorization. Ron then tried to tell the attorney general again I was a silly ignorant woman, I had verbally told them I didn't want them to charge my card but hadn't put it in writing. So I produced the email with receipt in which I had indeed revoked authorization for my card in writing. The money was immediately returned. His office manager began writing me emails into the night 7 or 8 pm for me so 9 or 10 pm for them. She tried to get me to say I refused to pay for my storage I assume in an attempt to entrap me and forfeit my ENTIRE household. I just kept responding I paid in full (of course producing receipts). She only stopped her harassment after I again contacted upper management of Wheaton and then wrote an email retracting her claims, admitting I was paid ahead. In the estimate the travel time was listed at a certain rate, when the final bill came the travel time was charged 70% greater than the estimate. I would most definitely NOT recommend Chase Moving & Storage. They were hired to move me on 10/10 /24. They were to move the furniture and heavy boxes. After packing most of my liquor bottles myself to move with me I had a few extra bottles left over. I offered these extras (and ONLY the extras) to Kevin and his crew. They seemed happy to receive them. There was absolutely no offer to them of the packed liquor. However the boxes containing my packed bottles never arrived at my new address. Kevin claims, incorrectly, that I gave ALL my liquor to them including all the bottles I'd packed. This probably amounts to approximately $500.00 worth of goods. He is refusing to reimburse me for what I consider to be unsolicited and avaricious grabbing of items belonging to me. I feel the Chase team took advantage of the situation and helped themselves to more than they were entitled to. There was also some damage done to a piece of furniture which will now have to be repaired. This experience has been extremely disappointing and I would caution anyone looking for a moving company to avoid these people. read more

In February of this year, 2023, our house was sold with a closing date of May 5th and my wife and I made arrangements with Chase Moving and Storage of Essex Junction to have our household goods moved to Texas from Vermont via Wheaton Moving and Storage, and paid their required 30% ($4277) deposit toward the move. In mid-April there was an issue in the sale of the house that was no fault of our own which terminated it and the house was returned active listing. We immediately told Chase (Kevin) that we would have to reschedule to which he stated that it would not be a problem and to let him know when new pack and pick up dates were available. We contacted them today, 6/13/2023, and provided them with new dates. After receiving the new quote, we were told that by changing the dates, we had forfeited the $4277 deposit from the "previous" contract and another 30% deposit would be required. This "date-change" forfeiture was never mentioned when we paid the deposit or when we advised that we needed to change the dates but there was a clause hidden deep in their Move Booking Paperwork that we overlooked which states: "LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: We will collect a non-refundable retainer fee equal to 30% of your estimated charges at the time of booking any services with Chase Moving and Storage". This statement provides no specifics and one assumes that loss of deposit would apply in your cancelling the contract, not just changing service dates. Clearly, we made a terrible (and very expensive) mistake in hiring them, but have now hired a reputable and highly-rated Moving and Storage company in Burlington which did not require a deposit at all. If you feel the need to hire Chase Moving and Storage, make sure you understand, because they will not tell you, that you will forfeit your 30% deposit for any changes whatsoever to your pack and pick up dates, apparently, no matter what the reason. We contacted Wheaton Moving and Storage's corporate headquarters for their input and were told someone would contact us, but they never did, so apparently, they condone this practice. read more

We requested a quote from Chace Moving and Storage for our move from Milton, Vermont, to Walden, Vermont. The quote was $3477.67, including using the truck, travel, packaging, and labor. We were very surprised/outraged when our final charges were 4665,95. This price increase represents over $1200, a 34% increase from the estimate. The operations manager, Kevin, stated two primary reasons for the price increase. Both had to do with labor. Kevin responded in an email, "They elaborated on the difficulty that they had getting up your driveway ( which we spoke about briefly on the phone )and your availability at the door while they unloaded the truck. The crew stated that you were preoccupied during the delivery and had to constantly ask for direction with pieces as they came through the door." In reality, it only added about 10 minutes as they maneuvered into the driveway that had been plowed, snow blown, and cleared of snow that morning to make it easier on them. On Kevin's second topic, I was literally on the truck and helping them take stuff out. They estimated the delivery to take about 2.7 hours for three men. The reality was they charged 11.25 hours. When asking phone Kevin what the cost was for such an inaccurate estimate, he stated simply repeated what he said in email. Furthermore, the movers missed placed some screws to reassemble our daughter's crib. They searched for 45 minutes after the truck was unloaded and even blamed us for unpacking the part box. The screws to the crib were in with the crib mattress in a bag and we were charged for the time that they were searching for them. Additionally, they broke or damaged three pieces of furniture in the move, which we are still working chase moving but is a separate issue from being overcharged drastically. Also, two of the three team members stated that they were up at two in the morning the night before moving us in because they were shoveling snow for another job. I believe they were not at their most efficient in doing the job, and we paid them thousands of dollars. The company automatically charged my card an additional $1287 never communicating that there was a significant increase from the estimate. They only sent a final invoice once I questioned the additional charge to my card. This moving company is an unprofessional run organization, and Kevin takes no responsibility for the actions of his staff. And ultimately, put the blame on us as the consumers. I would not recommend this company to anyone for a local or out of state move. We are filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and in small claims court and disputing the charges with our credit card company. I would definitely recommend Chase moving to my friends and family in the Vermont area. Ron recently moved me from Vermont to Massachusetts and the move couldn't have gone smoother. The guys packing me were professional and hard working, Ron personally drove the truck down and unloaded me, and the guys on the MA end were fast, efficient and did a fantastic job unloading me. Seeing the current reviews I am not even surprised anymore by our experience. We were very disappointed by the treatment from Chase. Ron came to our house to do the estimate. My husband discussed with him options of taking or leaving behind specific items. We were told he will provide these to us. When quote came it included a bulk number of lb and about $10k. Only itemized items was a crate for $1000 for a table we paid for about 400, and the storage. The rest of the quote was a mystery bulk number. I contacted the office and later emailed Ron to get details on the "big items" like dining set or a snow blower and simply confirming that couches were not included in the quote by error. His response was basically to take our business elsewhere. In his email he said: "We do not offer dozens of pricing exercises on every piece of furniture and definitely don't do that for free. We did a big move this summer from VT to Utah. Our experience with Chase Moving & Storage was horrible. Like so many of the other bad reviews, several things were not packed well, (some boxes were but certainly not consistently) and furniture looked like it was just thrown in the truck. Needless to say we had some very nice pieces destroyed or damaged. Customer service was non existent or cryptic once we raised any concerns about how the move was being handled. They charged a lot of money (the estimate was way off) and in return we got to live in a nightmare, waiting a longer time than agreed upon for delivery, seeing so many of our valuable things broken and absolutely no meaningful effort put forth from the owner or manager to communicate with us. It was kind of hard to believe a company could be so bad. I don't like writing negative reviews but if I can stop one person from experiencing what we did then it's worth it. Awful! The truck broke down the day of the move and they actually aske me to postpone when I was getting on a plane. They destroyed some of my furniture, charged my credit card more than the guaranteed price, and then denied it when I challenged it. They were unprofessional, in their service and communication such as this email: "The BBB is a joke that gives consumers a false sense of security that their online complaining and whining has an impact on business. I asked for an estimate and did not sign by the date the estimate "expired" and the new estimate was over a thousand dollars more- for the same move on the same date! They told me labor and transportation costs went up and were controlled by Allied. I moved during the summer of 2020 and was disappointed with how poorly my belongings were handled. Although they did a decent enough job with COVID guidelines (Ron's initial assessment with Zoom went fine and the actual movers did mostly wear masks), that's about all they did well. They damaged or outright destroyed multiple pieces of furniture, making me really glad I spent the money on insurance. Even the movers who unpacked my belongings at my destination were amazed at how poorly everything was loaded. FYI, I'm only adding this now because Ron sent an email requesting reviews, and in the process shared his customers' emails with each other (please, Ron, learn to use BCC for these sorts of communications). Run the other way!! They are terribly dishonest, and it's likely you'll get ripped off. We used Chase Moving several years ago for an in-state move and they were fine. Well, management has clearly changed. We hired them last summer for another in-state (5 miles away) move, and they cheated us...badly. They estimated about $3000 for a 3-day move, which was confirmed by email, but they didn't show up. Turns out they changed it to a 2-day move without telling us. They showed up the next day. Then they told us, near the end of the move, that it was taking longer than expected, so they'd need to "pre-auth" an extra $700. Well, it turns out they had already charged our credit card DOUBLE the original estimate, without our knowledge, PLUS the extra amount. So, all told, it cost us well over $6000. The moving guys were very friendly (albeit a little slow) so we got chatting with them. None of them, including the lead, had been there longer than a couple months. I had a different company try to mess with me and then mysteriously overbook my moving day that had been in place for 2 weeks. Chase Moving and Storage came in and saved the day. They were able to squeeze me in at an even lower cost than the first company's estimate. They moved heavy and awkward items without issue or comment, and my only exit was through a very tight staircase and offset door! I cannot rate them highly enough, or recommend them enough. And now I feel even dumber with my decision seeing that others shared in a similarly horrible experience and it didn't occur to me to check the reviews first. RON IS A FORK-TONGUED SNAKE OF A SALESMAN and will tell you whatever he needs to to get your business. Rest assured it will all be lies. The part about how they offer great customer service. The part about how they'll be for you every step of your move if you need anything. The part where they'll communicate any updates to you. It'll all be 100% false. Once they have your stuff they will treat you like trash and as though you are worthless to them. My items were picked up from me on November 19th and did not leave their storage place until Dec. 7 (well into the estimated delivery date... and I moved across the country)!!!! I chose them over Booska because they gave me a better price and although the delivery date was later, Ron ASSURED me that Booska would not be able to honor their earlier delivery date promise. He accused them of lying about the delivery dates and said they wouldn't be able to help me if anything happened along the way (this seems to be a trend... calling other people liars to defend himself). I now see he was actually talking about himself and his staff. He said that by going with Chase/Allied I would receive a more accurate and realistic delivery date along with excellent communication and customer service. As soon as they took my items, communication completely ceased. I had a couple of very simple questions which went ignored for a week, despite many attempts to contact them, until I finally sent a stern e-mail, to which the response was "go away and deal with corporate moving forward if you need anything." There is no world in which these thieves should be allowed to operate a business. I later found out that I was also greatly overcharged for the total weight of my stuff both in the initial estimate and in the final negotiation. Now I'm dealing with the corporate office directly as the estimated delivery date for my items is 12/20 and keeps getting pushed back. The local office was responsible for relaying this delay to me. Wouldn't you know it, they never did. Hours spent on the phone with Allied's corporate office proved worthless as well, though at least I was able to speak with someone. The end result still being massively unacceptable. A measly $50 compensation being offered by the corporate office for each day past the estimated delivery date is nothing compared to the inconvenience I've had to deal with. What's worse, now I fully expect my stuff to arrive damaged as so many other people have reported. A complete joke of a business that gives Allied a terrible name. But the corporate office has about as much concern for customer service quality as this sham of a local office does. Go with Booska! Heck, go with anybody else. This has to go down as one of the most financially regrettable decisions of my life... And since my stuff isn't even here yet, I'm sure the nightmare is far from over. The most recent estimate has me receiving my stuff well past the last possible delivery date and over a month past when it was packed and picked up from my place. UPDATE: My stuff was finally delivered, 6 days after the delivery window and several of my posessions were ruined and destroyed. Who knows whether or not I'll ever see the compensation they are supposed to give me for the delay. **Not impressed** Customer service was less than sub-par. Long Story Short--- If you want customer service and respect as a customer, this is not the company for you! We were provided a date for our move and the day before we were informed by the packers loading the boxes into the truck that the delivery date wasn't for 2 days later. We assumed this must have been a miscommunication within the company so we followed up w/ the dispatcher. We were informed that in fact the date had changed and we would be without our belongings for 2 days. When we called our dispatcher, we were greeted with a terrible attitude, a "too bad, so sad" mentality, and a complete lack of empathy. When we asked what we should do, we were told "go get a hotel". We we're informed we were still within the contract delivery timeline and thus the date could be changed willy nilly and they did not need to inform us of this. When presented with the email about the delivery date confirmation we were told that the person who sent it was "not authorized to make those decisions, so it doesn't matter what they told you." How are we, as the customers supposed to know who is allowed to do what? The dispatcher telling us this was on the email confirmations, but still refused to accept any responsibility. After expressing our disappointment we we're assured we would receive a follow up the next business day about the situation. We did not. We follow up w/ the business owner who has completely ignored us. We will not be using these movers again and we strongly recommend using an alternate company. read more

First off, I would have given them zero stars if that were even possible. this is my third cross country move I have made with Allied agents and drivers and the first two experiences were great. The drivers were excellent, the local agents at the pickup locations were courteous and professional. However, that was very much not the case with Chase Moving & Storage. They are the only Allied agent in the Burlington area so if I wanted to use Allied I HAD to go through Chase. Let me count the ways this company made my cross country move a miserable experience... 1. Every time we had to update the contract as a result of updates I had to correct stupid things like typos for the spelling of my name and phone number. I called out these mistakes multiple times and they were never corrected. Also - they repeatedly spelled my name wrong in emails back and forth even though I signed my name at the bottom of EVERY EMAIL. This shows their lack of professionalism and attention to detail. This will become a theme throughout this review. 2. During previous moves other shipping agents have been more than willing to provide as many boxes as needed. This shipping agent was more than happy to offer to allow me to purchase boxes from them at a discount. And then threw in, in passing, that SOMETIMES they had used boxes available for free. I was able to get a few used boxes on one occasion. However, when I did purchase specialized telescoping picture/mirror boxes nearly all of them were used/crumpled/water damaged/etc. despite Chase claiming they were new. 3. Three days before the pickup date Chase called to ask if they could pick up a day early. Luckily, this was fine because we were prepared to leave anyway. Pickup seemed to go okay until the end when it was clear that the movers didn't come prepared and drove away with my television in the lap of one of the movers, instead of in the specialized television box that I paid to have them pack it in. They also assured me that someone would call the next day to update me on when the cross country driver would be loading the shipment on his truck...this never happened. I had to call a FULL WEEK later to ask what was going on to find out that my belongings were still sitting in Chase's warehouse in Vermont. The fact that a driver had fallen through was definitely not Chase's fault. However, the total lack of customer service to let me know what was going on most definitely was. 4. Once my stuff was finally picked up by a driver I had to contact Chase repeatedly to get updates on the driver's ETA. My stuff ended up being dropped off four days past my contract's expiration date - which again is not Chase's fault. However, they never even offered to put me in touch with the driver, which is common practice in this industry. In the two previous cross country moves I have done, the driver was in constant contact. That would have been a blessing in this case since had I had contact with the driver I wouldn't have had to deal with the Williston agent at all anymore. 5. So my belongings did arrive at their final destination. However, we did pay roughly $300 to have an heirloom bassinet crated for transport. This was not a super large item, though larger than your average dish pack box. However, Chase insisted that they couldn't just put it in a larger size box. They had to put it in a special crate. OK fine. When it arrived it looked like some homeless guy's shanty. It was at LEAST 3 1/2 times bigger than necessary for the item going inside it. Additionally, it had some other customer's name on it. The driver took one look at the whole mess and commented that the local agent clearly reused some crate they made for another customer rather than making a new one because it was WAY too big for the item being shipped. Not to mention the fact that because it was enormous it added at least an extra 50lbs to the total weight of our shipment - eg added cost in weight on top of the crating fee - total rip off . Lastly, we definitely had several items show up in pieces. Although the most egregious piece of damage was to my treadmill. Some dummy clearly didn't know how to operate the hydraulic folding mechanism and totally screwed it so now it's stuck in the upright position permanently. I don't believe for a second this was the fault of the driver. He was incredibly professional all the way around. This HAD to have been done by the movers packing up our house or by someone moving things around at the Chase storage facility (you know, since my stuff sat for a week before anyone bothered to tell me what was going on). Bottom line - if you can avoid this company, you should. If you're moving out of Vermont you've got limited options for cross country movers but if you've got a choice look elsewhere. Allied as a national brand has been good to us but I'm seriously questioning their standards for partnerships at this point. read more

They have a history of substandard moves and I wish I had listened to the reviews here. We used Chase Moving and Storage for our move from VT to NC in June 2017 and it was the worst experience of our lives. The estimate was underbidded by a large sum, the packers took two days longer than scheduled, the first of our shipments arrived 7 days late, 22 pieces of furniture were broken or severely damaged, several items including my grandmother's chair were lost ( and apparently we cannot be compensated for them because the paperwork was messed up-how is that our fault?) and all Allied could do was say they were sorry. My wedding dress was balled up in the bottom of a box with stereo equipment on top of it! I actually give zero stars but the site wouldn't let me! Don't do it! read more

I used this business for a period of 9 years from 2004-2013 and am glad to say it's now history. On multiple occasions, there were bookkeeping errors and attempted double charging both from the prior and current owners, as well as retroactive charges and extra fees. As we were based in another country, it was hard to make changes. Services included cold storage, mini storage, and two international moves. I was highly dissatisfied with the negative and unprofessional attitude of the current owner (Ron) during the final move when he made false and unfounded insinuations. Clearly, his level of experience and knowledge with international moves was very limited. I would never recommend Chase to a friend of colleague. As has been stated by a previous poster, I would have given this company 0 stars if that were only an option. First, I should state that our connection with Chase Moving and Storage was not by our choice. We ordered 3 Sealy mattress sets from Costco online. We have since found out that these sets ship directly from Sealy, who contracts the deliveries through Lodeso, who sub-contracts to Chase Moving and Storage. This background information is necessary for two reasons: 1. We never would have chosen to use Chase based on the horrendous online reviews we have seen, and 2. This kind of guaranteed contract might be the only reason a company like this can stay in business. We ordered our mattress sets on June 1, and on June 22nd we received an automated notice that they had arrived at the Lodeso (actually Chase) warehouse in Williston on June 21. When I clicked on the link to determine the estimated delivery, the date was blank. Since we were going to be away from our home for a few days, I called the contact number to ensure that they wouldn't try to deliver the mattresses while we weren't home, and was told by a Lodeso representative that we would be contacted by Chase soon to set up a delivery. A week transpired with no contact, so I called Lodeso again and was told by the rep that Chase had tried to call several times, even though my call log showed no calls and there was no voicemail. She gave me the number for Chase and warned me that I would probably have to try several times because they "rarely answered their phone and were really bad about calling back." I called several times and got nothing but an outgoing message from "Heather," telling me that she was away from her phone for "a few minutes," and that if I left a message she would "call me right back." I left two messages. No calls from Heather. I decided to try to call when they opened the next day, thinking this might improve my chances of speaking to someone. I was momentarily encouraged when a gentleman answered the phone, but my excitement was immediately checked by his question "How did you get this number?", delivered in a hostile and accusatory tone. When I explained that I was a Costco customer and that I was given the Chase number by an agent at Lodeso, his response was that "Well, they had no right to do that. How did you get THEIR number?" I told him that it was included in an email that I had received from Costco. I then explained that we had ordered mattresses, had been notified that they were in the warehouse, and was simply calling to check on the delivery date, to which he replied "I'm the owner of this company, and I don't have time to deal with this s**t. We'll let you know when we'll deliver your mattresses, and if you don't like it, we'll just send them back." Although I had managed to maintain a fairly positive and congenial attitude thus far into the conversation, I felt had no choice but to call him out on his hostile response, and asked for his name. He refused to give it to me (apparently forgetting that he had already told me that he owned the company), and said "That's it. Your mattresses are going back. Goodbye." And then he hung up. We are big fans of Costco, and know they pride themselves on a positive customer experience, so I called them to let them know about this conversation and ask for advice. After all, this man was not only holding hostage 3 mattress sets we had paid for, he had told me he was going to "return them," leaving me wondering where they would end up - Lodeso, Sealy (where they shipped from), or Costco. Not surprisingly, the Costco rep I talked to was great. She contacted Chase directly and spoke to the elusive Heather, who was none-too-friendly herself (according to the Costco rep), but did apologize for her boss's behavior and promised to call us today to set up a delivery date. Another broken promise it turns out, as it is now the end of the day and my phone has not rung once. While I was waiting for Heather to call, I searched for some internet reviews of this company and was shocked at the number of terrible assessments, which addressed not only poor performance but also awful customer service. Once I realized Heather was not going to call, I contacted Costco to cancel the order. As expected, they were absolutely terrific to deal with and promised that they would follow up with the the vendor and delivery company. It's just unfortunate that a company as great as Costco is represented by a company like Chase Moving and Storage at the last stage of the purchasing/delivery process. We will definitely keep shopping at Costco, but will never order any large items from them while we are in Vermont because of the possibility of having to deal with Chase. read more

Chase Moving did a great job or moving our household belongings 40 miles from Central Vermont to Williston. But their estimate was off by 70%, more than $1,000. Included in this over-charge was a $500 "Delivery Fee." How do you move if you don't get delivery? We had really hoped that we could talk to Ron and reach some sort of compromise on the bill. But he refused to take or return our calls, and would not reply to our emails. Everything before the move was wonderful; the move itself was great. But the $1000 felt like bait and switch. read more

Chase Moving and Storage moved my complete household. Two years later and I'm still seeing red every time I unpack a box or move a piece of furniture. I am so mad right now, so I am writing. I'm one of those people that usually doesn't say anything, even with a mouth full. Chase Moving from Williston, Vt. handled my possessions as if it was trash. Items were/are broken, furniture scratched up and actually broken. I moved a dresser today to give to my kids and part of the foot was broken off and put in the drawer and the cabinet itself was broken on the same side. The shelves to the bookcases are missing, the nuts, bolts and screws for items taken apart by the movers never arrived here and far as I know and at this point in time I don't even know if all my items arrived. The driver and helper that unloaded the truck completed almost the entire bill of lading "the check list of items with box numbers" after the truck was unloaded and put in the house and when confronted we were assured that all was accounted for and undamaged as they were "professionals". Don't believe it, have them account for every green stickered item yourself, if you dare to even hire them. Wish I would have inspected every piece of furniture and opened every box. Who would have thought? I signed the paperwork and trusted them. Wish I could see how they unload and load the trucks at the warehouse between when they leave your house and arrived at their destination. I bet it would be an eye opener or horror show. I know I'm late to the party in confronting RON "now" over the discoveries in my stuff ... but that doesn't change the facts. I spoke directly to management at the onset this move, them being late on their own schedule and I don't give a tinkers damn about that absolutely useless rude horrible conversation. BEWARE, BE WARNED, AVOID and choose someone, anyone else. Wish I had read the reviews....my grand and costly mistake!!!! read more
