I live in the U.S. so finding delivery places in other countries can be difficult. First, from what I have been told by those who received the bakery items I had delivered, everything is very fresh and delicious. Their customer service was the best I've come across in a long time (I had a few questions and corresponded via email a few times). Missing the crispy exterior but the interior is nicely soft and slightly gooey. I specifically tried the choc chip cookie (standard taste) and the cookies & cream cookie (I really enjoyed this one! Fan of the trickles of white chocolate ganache). Service was a bit cold. The lady who assisted me was no-smiles and there was conveyor-like communication from her. What I will give props to (and I wished more bakeries did this) is that she asked if I had any food allergies before confirming my order.

Via their website I was able to order and pay for the pie and pick it up at this, their new Angel location. The process was easy and the people working there were as sweet as their baked goods. Nice as it was, every person who'd had proper Key lime pie in the past had the same reaction after tucking in: it lacked the punchy zest -- the mouth puckering tanginess -- they always associate with this dessert.

When I wrote to FLAVOURTOWN on the same day with feedback, they told me I was wrong and that they had already had several reorders for the same cake from that day. They said the only way they would consider any gesture of goodwill was if I took a slice of cake back to their baker. I declined. This company is very arrogant in their communications and the taste of their cakes was awful. My favorites have to be the lemon raspberry cake, the red velvet (their best seller) and the the rainbow cake...in that order. I have yet to try any of their whoopie pies because they sell out so fast! I find the staff to be awfully nice and great conversation starters despite the usually hectic environment of customers with their mini-me's. The cakes are moist, rich and not too sweet. It's a pretty intense experience biting into the red velvet for the first time if you ask me. Just because a place is lacking enough tables during peak business hours (maybe do takeaway?), is crowded with kids (what did you expect from a shop selling such delicious sweets?) and the sweets offered are on the pricey side (if you eat this often, yes - if so, I'm more worried about your health than the finance bit if you don't make this a once-in-a-while treat), it should not affect the rating based on the overall quality and service. If you are still hung up over the price, there is a Tesco down the street where the bakery goods are edible and the quality questionable. We ordered three things and split them between us: a red velvet cupcake, a chocolate peanut butter whoopie pie, and a slice of rainbow cake. Her favorite was the red velvet, I was in love with the dark chocolate and whipped peanut butteryness of the whoopie pie, and we both liked the rainbow cake but thought it was just TOO much. It had a kind of tutti-fruiti flavour, and between that and the bajillion layers and all the frosting, it was just too sweet for us. We were defeated by one slice of cake and couldn't finish it. My recommendation to Hummingbird would be to sell the cakes in smaller slices and charge less for them, because it was not cheap. It also didn't help that there were tons of kids constantly running around and pushing past us the majority of the hour and a half or so that we were there chatting. Not a calm kind of place to hang out. But still, solid baking - I'd probably recommend the cupcakes for takeaway, but the cake slices are just too big.
