This is a venue to be rented. I attended an Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy event here and I could not imagine a better place for it. A couple weeks later we were dining in the Flour Mill building, where this spot resides, and I wanted to show my son the place we met in because it was so cool with its brick arches and old world stone walls. Luckily, it was prepared for a wedding the next day and they had just finished rehearsal. It worked great as a wedding spot as well! So glad as the guy attending to the space said the elevator wouldn't have worked to let us in otherwise. A sign in one of the sub chambers states it's available for cocktail parties. This place is awesome and I would highly recommend it for your event in an old world dungeon environment. read more

Overall? Near perfection. Kelsey was lovely to work with (and Janine prior to the handoff). They dealt with my neurotic number-crunching and attention to detail so well. Friends and family loved the staff. We got rave reviews for the bartender. We very much enjoyed interacting with the Event Captain and she made sure the entire event went off without a hitch. Catering was delicious. We got legitimate compliments on the food. Nobody ever remembers the food at a wedding reception but Red Rock Catering crushed it. The physical space was great - indoors and out. Chateau Rive worked with our florist, the photo booth folks, the DJ and the dessert setup to absolutely create the best arrangement possible. Our 114 guest count fit into the reception area just right. I really can't stress enough just how amazing this experience was and how fantastic everyone at Chateau Rive was. read more

This is just such a beautiful venue. I am so blown away by how many beautiful spaces are here in Spokane. I loved the atmosphere, the ambiance, the cafe lights, the dark tunnel entrance. Really a beautiful space and quite the gem of history here in the Spo. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My husband and I had our wedding reception at Chateau Rive in October 2014. Working with Chateau Rive and the staff was the most challenging, frustrating, painful experience of our entire wedding planning process and given the chance we would NOT use Chateau Rive again. Our wedding day turned out beautiful no thanks to any of the Chateau Rive staff. My husband and I felt completely disregarded and felt that we were treated very poorly by Jodie Laib. Communication was horrible and it would take weeks to get responses after multiple follow-ups. Our needs were disregarded and for the amount of money we spent to have an event in the facility we should have been treated with more respect. We were constantly made to feel bad about our decisions, such as having a plated dinner, arranging the room with the head table and dance floor in a slightly different layout than typical weddings, and overall were spoken down to about what we could and could not afford. We had a budget and knew what we were comfortable spending and we felt judged for spending probably more than the average Spokane couple. In addition, being an out of town couple has it's own challenges. Every vendor in Spokane worked hard to try and ease the burden of only being able to do things over phone and email, as well as the few trips we made to travel there. Chateau Rive did not at all work with us to ease the out of town problems. Every time we came to town it would be a weekend, and we were constantly made to feel bad about being seen on the weekends and other requests we had. The inconsistency in price and overall information provided was insane. We were told different prices on different occasions. For example, we were told that the corkage fee only applied to people over 21. The quotes given on a plated dinner varied for no reason and when we requested the breakdown of costs we were given more inaccurate information and then made to feel stupid for wanting to know where our money was going. One of the worst things we experienced was the CAD layout of Chateau Rive. We asked for 5 months for the layout of the room/tables so we could do our seating chart. 5 months! 2 weeks before the wedding we received the most inaccurate tiny drawing that did not at all show accurate proportions of the room. It was missing pillars and was impossible to work. The room is challenging to layout because of the pillars and dimensions. We were left on our own to figure it out. Again, being out of town this was impossible. This was 2 weeks before the wedding and figuring out the seating chart is hard enough without having to figure out how the room is laid out. This was a huge disappointment. I now understand why people choose to have their weddings at venues that completely know what they are doing (hotels and country clubs). Everything was left up to us and it felt like we were alone in this process and we literally only rented a room (a very very very expensive room). For the price of the room rental anywhere else we would have received so much more and it was definitely not worth the price. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We were very disappointed with the professionalism of the staff. Our "event planner" was unprofessional, callous, and checked out. She was very hands off and when we were struck by a family tragedy, she attempted to "one up us." The "event planner" forgot to add that we were to utilize the whole outside after the ceremony and so our GUESTS had to teardown and clean it up for outside games. When we confronter her, she stated "I forgot." For what we paid, it was assumed we would have help, as we have never planned a wedding before. We also did not receive our deposit as promised and something "happened to it" or it didn't go through so I had to personally contact the owner. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this venue unless you have secured your own event planner. We were not compensated for the unnecessary stressors and received an apology from the owner and that he would talk to the event planner. The only reason I gave this venue two stars is that it is a beautiful venue. The bartender and kitchen staff were great, too. It's just such a bummer to be so stressed out the day of your wedding. read more

This summer we had our wedding at the Chateau Rive. We couldn't have had a better experience! The staff was amazing. Jody knows her stuff, and had great advice. Our event flowed perfectly. Horrible venue. The event coordinator NEVER showed up at all. Poor DJ had to run the show. He should not have been put in that position. Bless Craig as he handled it! Bartenders late! There are marmots running around the venue and no one there to pick up their poop, these creatures are like small dogs! So groomsmen had to do that. My husband had to prune the bushes on the venue stairs as they were overgrown and could catch on people's clothing or scratch them. Venue not kept up, dirty and musty. For as much as people pay, not worth the money. Cheap folding chairs...we all had to arrive and tip the chairs as they were puddled with water. On a positive note, the catering lead was incredible. read more

Our daughter and new son-in-law found the vintage setting to be just exactly what they were looking for. Their wedding was held outside in a gorgeous setting along the Spokane River with an inside reception. The food was amazing (we had several compliments) and reasonably priced, the caterer's were hospitable and very accommodating. Our sales rep Jodie was incredible from beginning to end making the wedding and reception a near perfect day for all of us. Jodie's knowledge, spunk, and genuine heart for wanting the best for the bride and groom was evident in her every action. Whether it was typing out a very helpful event agenda or answering simple questions she was passionate and dedicated and did not let us down. We also enjoyed working with the office staff as pertaining to invoicing and so on. We had a lovely time as did many of our guests whom came up to us time and again to let us know how much they enjoyed the wedding, the venue, and the reception. Very unprofessional. What a nightmare! They told us we had a specific date held and then gave it away to somebody else. I called to get the details about the alcohol corkage fees and was called back with a voicemail saying another sales associate gave our date to another couple. The man I spoke with after this couldn't understand why if we wanted the venue, we didn't send the $1,000 non-refundable deposit right away. We were told that if another couple wanted our date, we would be given 48 hrs notice to send the deposit. We were never notified and dealing with this venue was such a stressful experience. read more

I am not sure what happened to cause the last review, but I can tell you the venue and the staff are nothing but 5 star. We had our wedding/party at Chateau Rive because of the venue, to start, and now being done with it - we would certainly say that it was because of the staff as well. We were helped when asked, amount of food, etc. We were given the green light on essentially everything and the staff went out of the way to make sure our guests (120) and us were well taken care of. We had music, food from Red Rock Catering (great food and the chef came out to make sure we were happy), outside and inside seating, a bar, a dessert table, slide show and they made it a very memorable night. I had my wedding here in September of 2015. We booked the venue in August of 2014. In that time, red rock catering and the lincolnd center just started managing chateau rive. Before our wedding, the gal helping us, Jodi, left the company, which was terrifying. However, the person who took over, Kelsee Tower, was very professional, reassuring and met with us as often as we requested. Communication was very easy. These people bent over backward for us... The day of the wedding was a little interesting as the person who helps you plan isn't there. However, everyone knew exactly what they were doing. A crew came to set up before the wedding and walked me through everything as I happened to be there. The bartender and server were incredible, every single person there commented on the great service. The food was awesome as well. Literally my only complaint was hauling everything us all those stairs, haha. I think some people might be off out by the seemingly detached service on the day of, everyone is working in the background. However, they know what they're doing and making sure you're left alone to enjoy your special day. read more

Disappointed in handicap access, very limited access with lots of hazards. Outside lighting for stairs was absent and the ramps outside are to steep for wheelchairs or people with balance problems. Bathrooms access limited and one stall per floor with none on event floor. Catering was excellent in fact the best part of the whole package we paid for. But the rental staff for facility was absent once they collected their money and would not answer or reply to texts asking questions on the day of the event. All parking in area was pay including the facilities lot. That lot had a dangerous ditch between the cars that was unmarked and uncovered. Watched people going to step across and they fell into an abyss. The stone made for bad acoustics for the sound system inside. Expect corkage fees for everyone no matter their age. Be prepared to pack lots of things up and down the stairs or ramps as elevator to basement needs an attendant which is not staffed during the time you are allowed to set up. Overall the facility needs to improve access and support to get another star from me, would not recommend this facility unless you like to pay top dollar for subpar facility support and safety for you guests. read more
