    Chicken Coq Au Vin

We just want to let you know that we are very disappointed by the service received on this afternoon, Easter Sunday at your restaurant. Firstly, the gentleman with the ponytail did not ask if we wanted anything to drink- simply asked if we were ready to order when he approached the table. Secondly, our water was never refilled And he did not ask if we wanted to go boxes, rather he just threw our unfinished portions away, and we had eaten less than half of it. When we requested a manager, he advised that they were a small crew and only the owner was the manager so there was no one of authority there. He referred us to send an email so that is what we are doing. I am sorry to say that I will be writing a review on yelp to speak of the food that was decent (except for cold, hard, inedible French bread) but the service that was lacking. Hopefully you will be able to address this issue in a way that others do not experience the same in the future. Have a great day.

I've always loved French cuisine, so visiting Chateau West has been on my list for some time. My husband, his mom, and I finally went for Christmas lunch, and it did not disappoint. First, parking was a breeze with a lot conveniently located next to the restaurant. The service was excellent--our waiter was knowledgeable, polite, and attentive throughout the meal. Appetizers: * Seared Foie Gras: Delicious, especially when paired with the dried fruit in each bite. * Escargot: A classic, well-prepared dish--perfect if you're a fan of escargot. * Smoked Salmon: Good and well-executed. Entrees: * Duck Breast with French Beans and Potatoes: Perfectly cooked and flavorful. * Blackberry Salmon with Vegetable Risotto * Filet Oscar Desserts: We shared the dessert trio, which included: * Pear Belle Helene: Light and refreshing. * Chocolate Moulleux: Rich and indulgent. * Vanilla Crème Brûlée: Classic and perfectly creamy. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience from the appetizers to the desserts. Chateau West lived up to the hype, and I'm already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!

This was our second time attending for Christmas dinner and we loved it just as much as the year before. We'll be back again not only for Christmas!

I dined at Chateau West on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 4 pm. The restaurant was empty during this time since it was a weird time between usual lunch and dinner hours. I actually enjoyed the quietness of being a lone diner. The peaceful ambience was accentuated with the soft French music playing in the background, the low lighting, and the pretty paintings on the walls. It's definitely a different experience compared the last time I dined here when the restaurant was busy and I could barely hear myself talk. I rarely eat French cuisine so you can take my assessment of the food with a grain of salt. I actually thought the food was decent. Everything tasted fresh and the dish had good presentation. The escargot tasted exactly like escargot I had before. The oyster sardou tasted fresh and creamy. I liked the creaminess of the shrimp saffron, so much I ate it all with the complimentary bread. For entree, I had the fettuccine Alfredo pasta with seafood. I know this dish is Italian and is not representative of the typical French cuisine, but I thought this dish was perfectly balanced in its pasta to cream to seafood ratio. The seafood tasted fresh. The chicken coq au vin had a nice rustic flavor. I thought the crème brûlée was excellent - it had a nice caramelizes sugar top with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was good and attentive (I mean I was the only diner in the restaurant). The food came out in reasonable time. Overall, Chateau West offers an excellent dining experience with its exquisite French menu and good service. This dining experience was much better than my previous experience.

Amazing place the environment was warm and cozy. The ambiance was very intimate. The service was fast and prompt. The food quality was quite good would definitely recommend the truffle fondue. The beef shoulder was fall apart tender. Will definitely be coming back. And the restaurant wasn't over crowded as I've become accustomed to in Nashville.

Not impressed , with a reservation book I was asked to sit at the bar . I kindly asked for a table and was sat in a corner by a door .. Ordering my first drink ( dirty martini ) the glass was dirty , I had ice in my glass & a fruit fly . Food was visibly appetizing but was not seasoned well at all , my steak was salty and scalloped potatoes were plain . My waitress was kind but obviously busy . For the presentation and ambiance of this restaurant I expected a more fine dining experience .

Ok, I love French food and have been to many so I may be a little more critical than other reviews on this place. I like the look of the unique architecture of the building and the interior design is fine, if maybe a little much with the French imagery. The food. The menu is comprised of mainly the most well-known French dishes. My wife had the Beef Bourguignon, which was good. The beef was fork tender and the sauce was savory and rich. She also got the polenta on the side, which was excellent. I would have liked to seen this dish served over polenta, potatoes or a puree, which is customary. I had the Bouillabaisse Marseillaise. The broth was the highlight, as both the shrimp and lobster were both pretty overcooked. Especially the lobster which came out curled and rubbery. However, I still like the flavors , although a little red pepper flake would be a welcome addition to the broth as it had zero spice. At all. The Escargot was respectable but the complementary bread served was excellent and probably the most authentically French thing on the table. Crusty on the outside with a soft and pillowy interior. They even gave us two loaves to take home as it was near closing when we left. The service was as good as I've ever seen. Attentive and charming waiter brought my wife a caramel lava cake when he found out it was her birthday. 10/10 service reminiscence of a much more expensive restaurant. Overall, I will say this. Is it the best French food I've ever had, no. Is it really good French food for its price point, absolutely. The whole meal was just under $100 (no wine), for a birthday dinner I consider that pretty good as I've spent 4x that much in other French bistros. If you're looking for decent French food in Nashville that's not going to break the bank, you could do a lot worse. And you could definitely get worse service. 3.9/5 or 7.7/10

My boyfriend and I went to Chateau West for our anniversary dinner, and it was a fabulous experience! We started with Prosecco and fondue, and the fondue was out of this world. I have not stopped thinking about it. For dinner I had the blackberry salmon paired with a glass of red wine that was recommended by our waiter. Both the salmon and the wine were perfection. I had a few bites of the lamb my boyfriend ordered, and it was almost amazing. For dessert we split the Trio. All three were delicious. The service was absolutely incredible. I also appreciated that there was ample parking. I will absolutely be back!

First time visiting, everything was amazing!! Salmon and risotto was delicious and the chocolate moulleux for dessert. The staff and service was above and beyond, overall great experience!!

#fatjared say...it had everything for my wife and I that we were wanting or expecting, except for the wow factor. Not perfect, so not 5 stars, but a fun place. When I review restaurants I stick to a single rule, "If I have any complaints whatsoever it's not 5 stars." 5 stars on Yelp is perfect, so if I have a complaint then the experience as a whole was not perfect. Chateau West was a place we have driven by several times, and I always made the comment that we should try it out, so finally for a long anticipated date night we did. Immediately I was actually concerned because the place was darn near empty. Then I remembered it was a Tuesday night, and people rarely go to restaurants like this on a Tuesday. They of course brought out a french baguette, and it was warm too, so kudos there. I don't know what it is with our ordering, but several times we start the meal with the absolutely best thing, and it gets progressively less amazing as the night goes on. If you come to Chateau West make sure you order the Pan Seared Foie Gras. Never have I had Foie Gras prepare that way, and the meat basically melted in your mouth. No chewing needed. Absolutely phenomenal. We coupled that app with the cheese fondue, and it was good, but all the fruit sank to the bottom and the goat cheese flavor was not as strong as I thought it would be. Escargot is a must, and while not as good as the Foie Gras, was exactly what I wanted from the order. They threw in a couple extra as well which I was all about. The applewood smoked salmon was basically a deconstructed Lox and Bagel, but the smoky flavor on the salmon was amazing. With the sauce and capers and onions and it truly is an almost perfect bite. Scalloped potatoes were a bit bland to me. Needed salt badly, the vegetables were a good portion and not doused in butter which I liked, and the bouillabaisse was a home run. Plenty of seafood, flavorful broth, a great entree choice for us. Basically all the food was above average, but only the one dish was standout to be exponentially better than expected. Finally dessert, and man do I love that they have a sampler. Little bites of creme brulee, poached pear, chocolate cake, and then threw in some homemade pastry as well. I'm a huge sweets guy, and that chocolate cake was absolutely amazing! The one thing that did surprise me was the cost of the food. These days I felt like a meal like that would have been almost double what we paid. You can tell they know what they are doing, and don't try to rake you over the coals on cost. I honestly just feel like shrinking the menu a little more and doing a small reno on the place would be the way to go. Would feel more modern, a bit more intimate, and would allow for perfect on the cooking of each dish. Overall, thinking back, this was a great night, we had so much fun, and the food was awesome. Not perfect, and no wow factor, but I would go back in a heartbeat if it was suggested. Thanks Chateau West!

Chateau West is a cute chateau (hence the name) nested in the west end of Nashville. I went for an anniversary dinner and it was amazing from start to finish. Our reservation on opentable I commented the reason for dining and they set us up with 2 glasses of champagne to start the night as we sat down. Starter wise we chose the honey Brie and truffle oil fondue. It came out in a cute little black cauldron and a little candle warmer. Highly recommend. For our main meal I got the Spiced Lamb Rack and my date got the Blackberry Salmon. We usually trade a few bites and both dishes were very good! For dessert we ordered the Dessert Trio which was a fantastic way to taste a few of their great desserts. I also paired this with a port from their after dinner drinks! Had a great time and will definitely be back!

I love escargot but I wasn't a fan of theirs. The shrimp with saffron garlic butter was not fresh at all and very fishy tasting.

I called and they told me 4-6, Monday through Thursday. When I went the next day, the waiter told me they didn't have happy hour.

A love letter, a thank you, and a heartbroken goodbye to one of Nashville's most important…read morerestaurants. For those unfamiliar: Margot Cafe & Bar opened on June 5, 2001, and will close its doors exactly 25 years later on June 5, 2026. Chef Margot McCormack gave Nashville a full year's notice, so this isn't a sudden gut-punch closing; it's a chef going out on her own terms, after a quarter century of running a beloved restaurant. Bittersweet, but graceful. (Still not over the closing of sister restaurant & cozy brunch spot Marché, which shuttered in June 2020, an early local dining casualty during the pandemic.) If you haven't read Steve Cavendish's excellent essay "Dish Network" (featured in Greetings from New Nashville, a collection of essays edited by another local, Steve Haruch), do yourself a favor and pick it up. It lays out exactly what Margot meant to this city: how her opening was the lightning rod that shifted Nashville's dining scene from a sea of chain restaurants to the chef- and ingredient-driven landscape that ultimately earned three local spots Michelin recognition in the inaugural South ceremony this fall. I came in one last time for dinner and one last time for brunch this past week. Brunch has always been my favorite here, and sitting at the bar earlier this week was unlike any other meal I've had in Nashville. The seats around me were filled with locals, many wearing nostalgic Margot merch, who had come as solo diners for one last meal. Strangers were reminiscing with each other and with the staff about what this place has meant to them. It was the kind of communal, slightly teary, genuinely warm experience you can't manufacture; it only happens at a restaurant that has truly been part of a city's fabric for decades, and we're collectively grieving that loss. A conversation topic that kept coming up across both of my visits is something I'm honestly still wrestling with: so many wonderful restaurants have opened in Nashville since Margot first paved the way, but very few are doing it the way Margot does. The menu truly changes every day. It's hyperlocal, ingredient-driven, based on whatever came in that morning. When I came in for brunch, the bartender told me to nix the strawberries listed on the printed menu in favor of farm-fresh blueberries because that was literally what had been brought in that morning. For dinner, I had a pappardelle (sourced from another excellent local spot: Mr. Aaron's Goods) with gigante beans in a garlicky, comforting sauce that I am genuinely still dreaming about almost a week later. Paired it with a dry pinot gris, on a rainy night, it was pure cozy magic. I can't tell you exactly what to order if you're lucky enough to snag one of the final reservations, because by the time you get there the menu will be different. But that's the whole point. That's the Margot ethos. Margot has always been comfort food, friendship, and celebrating local to me. I'm heartbroken to see it end, but so, so grateful for the inimitable legacy Margot leaves behind for the Nashville restaurant scene to follow. Thank you, Chef Margot, for everything you've given this city.

We said probably our last goodbye to this wonderful French- inspired restaurant. We made a…read morereservation for 2 on a Saturday at 8:15 & were sat right about then. Self-parking is always hard, but we always manage to find free street parking a couple blocks away. Service was kind & attentive & we ordered the focaccia & olive oil, Italian sausage, steak, duck, & Eton mess. The quality was outstanding & everything was cooked & seasoned perfectly. Ambience was intimate & casual but crowd & volume level picked up surprisingly as the night got later. Overall, highly recommend if you can manage to snag a reservation before they close in early June!
