It also helps that you can try a small sample of the desired tea on request, and they sometimes have various varieties available for sampling. The store's design and decor is another standout, with a bold black ceiling and red shelves contrasting well with the rustic and quirky wallpaper made from old Chinese newspapers. Blackboards describing the different types of tea adorn the walls. The tea sets and Moroccan glasses for sale also act as interesting feature pieces scattered around the store. For a black tea (good with milk) I find it hard to go past the customised Queenslander 'Brisbane Breakfast' which combines the flavours of Assam and Darjeeling with "a subtle and inscrutable tinge of exotic mango" (from the T2 website). Their 'Peppermint' is top notch too, and for something a bit different (but still minty) try the 'Red Choc Mint'.

The sales staff are super helpful and being able to taste a few teas helped narrow down the vast selection. They had a lemongrass ginger tea with Turkish apple in an iced version. I love ice tea but not plain Liptons so this was heaven for me. The strawberries and cream was also very nice. Looking forward to brewing some tea at home. After chatting a bit one of the ladies told me about a banana green tea that they didn't have the tin to smell on the floor anymore and after realizing I might be interested in it she ran to the back to grab it and brewed up a little so we could taste it. I instantly knew I needed it. Tropinana is where it's at. If you like banana get in quick and try it out because it was one of their special ones that's released every 2 months and they aren't sure yet if they will be seeing more of it or if it's just whatever stock is left. I also had a revelation before leaving, that the Tropinana would proooobably be pretty killer with the Chilli Chocolate (another one of those special release flavors) I love bananas with chocolate and that little kick of chilli would probably go really nicely with the sweetness from the banana. So they made me up a tiny sample of the Chilli Chocolate to take home and give it a try before I commit to buying the huge box of it - which is awesome. It's always the worst when you get a large portion of something and then realize you don't like it and you just wasted a boat-load of money. That being said, pretty sure I'll be back to T2 for the Chilli Chocolate....or some other crazy flavor!

I usually get my lychee green tea with pearls but I thought I would try the Macha Latte... a mixture of green tea and milk latte somehow the milk and the green tea part look separate in the cup so you end up walking around with a super cool looking drink. They even ask you the amount of sugar you want in your drink and you can get creme brulee in your drink as well instead of pearls... or both if you're feeling adventurous. I know I know... it sounds weird, but trust me when I say... it is quite the taste sensation that works really well! You'll pay the standard $4-$5 for your drink including jelly or pearls or nothing and the sizes are pretty good too. They even ask you if you want ice in your bubble tea. Very friendly staff mixed with interesting looking combinations for your tea drinking delight... this is an international Taiwanese chain starting out in Australia. I think it's got a fair bit of competition but I also think it may do pretty damn well.

The first time I tried their Pink Grapefruit Green tea I was in love. It was the perfect blend of sweetness with a flavour that makes my mouth water even as I talk of it now. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick. I must admit that I have craved their tea to the point that I have made special trips to Toowong just for a cup of it. I'm not a big fan of super sweet, artificially flavoured bubble teas, and i've tasted my fair share (yes, the shop who sell the bubble tea at the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre, i'm looking at you). The Tea Bar teas are very nice, not too sweet, not to not sweet... and the pearls are bouncy and soft and not gooey and overcooked. This is very important to me when I enjoy my $4.50 bubble tea.
