My friend and I saw this place on IG and just had to visit. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted like family. Susan walked us around, helped us find things. This was truly a candy store and we were so excited we didn't know where to start first. Whether you're a total beginner or an experienced quilter, the instructors and volunteers are incredibly generous with their time, knowledge, and patience. They create a safe and encouraging environment where everyone feels welcome and inspired. What makes this organization truly shine is their mission--quilting not just for personal joy, but for giving back. They create quilts for people in need, from veterans and foster children to hospital patients and those experiencing hardship. Every stitch carries a message of care and community. We struck up conversations with several customers so easily- what a joy of a place. The space is clean, organized, and full of energy. You can feel the passion behind everything they do, from the carefully curated fabric donations to the collaborative projects that bring people together for a greater good. If you've ever wanted to learn quilting, give back to your community, or just be around kind-hearted, creative people--Quilting for Community is the place. I have been forced to pay out of pocket for daycare just so I can work and provide for my children--an expense that rivals rent--while CCRC has failed to offer even the most basic courtesy of communication. For months, I attempted to follow up regarding my application and so-called "spot" on their waitlist. My calls and messages were routinely ignored. Not once did I receive a meaningful update, let alone any indication that they were interested in helping. Meanwhile, I've seen other families get prioritized and placed quickly, suggesting a troubling pattern of bias and discrimination. CCRC's selective support is not only unethical, it's harmful. They tout themselves as advocates for all low-income families, but in practice, they pick and choose who gets help. Families like mine--who do not fit their apparent preferences--are left struggling and ignored. This is not equity. This is not service. This is systemic negligence masquerading as community care. If you are a working parent who doesn't speak a certain language, or fall into their preferred demographic, be prepared to fight tooth and nail for even a response. I expected support. I received silence. And worse, I was forced to drain my finances just to survive. Shame on CCRC for failing the very families they claim to serve. This organization needs oversight, accountability, and a complete overhaul in how they determine eligibility and provide service--because right now, their practices are discriminatory and deeply unjust.

Yes there's a club and they meet every 1st Thursday of the month at the OneGeneration Senior Enrichment location! My curiosity was peaked and the fact I could get a free plant on my first visit sealed the deal! Parking is plentiful in the front. Outside I thought the building looks small but it's a trick of the eye because after entering through the double doors the room is HUGE and has a stage with a big screen to project the power points. It's so spacious! I was so awed by the plants that were set up that I forgot to check the walls in case they posted what other events OneGeneration hosts but I'm sure I can find it online! As for the club it's so fun! I didn't know what to expect but I already learned some new things and there were so many species I never heard of before. Apparently once a year members also compete and bring their plants and there are thousands of cactus and succulent submissions that get judged over the 3 day event. After walking around and seeing so many new species and hearing other people's stories I'm now excited to be a part of the club! Tonight they also hosted Botany Bingo! I think they do this every few months and when you win you can choose a plant as your gift! I couldn't believe it I won the first bingo round and got a gorgeous cactus!!! For each round up to 10 people can win, and then there's 3 rounds giving plenty of people chances to win! So fun! I cant wait to research what other events are hosted at the One Generation because I had so much fun!

I personally haven't held an event at this place, but when the opportunity knocks on my door, I definitely will. This review is kind of way overdue. My son and I were invited to 2 baby showers within 2 months a part. Different people. Service by the employees were impeccable. They were all nice, friendly and helpful. All ladies and gentlemen were on top of things to make sure everything was up to par. You can have any type of events from baby shower to wedding, to birthdays, baptism, to engagement parties, holiday gatherings, bridal showers and more. You can also bring your own food. I don't know if they provide that for their guests.Venue visits are by appointment only!!. They are open for Private event rentals, accommodate up to 150 guests. They also do volunteer Services to schools, libraries, churches and hospitals. As mentioned earlier each package is different with their pricing. Depending on what you are interested in. All are welcome!:-) Venue was very clean along with 2 restrooms. Ample parking and you can request any service from anyone, anytime. Established back in 1914. The employees I had contacted were pleasant, and there was a decent amount of furniture, doors, and hardware in the store. Nevertheless, the prices did not seem to satisfy me much. A lot of secondhand products cost the same as new items at other stores on sales. It was a good experience to go shopping there despite my dissatisfaction with the prices, and the store itself was neat and organized. But I did not purchase anything since the prices seemed unaffordable to me. It may be worth visiting if you have something to look for there or you are fond of shopping.

For months my friends had been asking Clyde and me to go there with them. I kept putting it off. Some times I didn't go because I had something else to do. Usually I didn't go because the thought of a vegan dinner at a community center didn't sound very appealing. I pictured a bunch of vegetables and maybe some hummus and pita bread. I was wrong. This month we decided to go, and I'm so glad we did. The dinner was supposed to start at 6:00 pm. There was Early Bird appetizers for folks who came early. We got there at about 5 pm. It was easy to find the community center and there was plenty of free parking in back. The dinner was in a big room that looked like an auditorium. There was plenty of tables and chairs. There was a stage in the front of the room where a member of the group was playing his guitar and singing. He was really good. At about 5:30 we were all invited to get appetizers which were set up on a long table. There was celery, carrots, chips, crackers, and a really good chunky salsa. It was pretty basic until they brought out a big bowl of vegan egg salad. I didn't think I'd like it, but it was delicious. If I didn't know better I would have thought it was made with real eggs. There was also a table set up with organic lemonade, juices, water, and several flavors of Silk milk. As it got closer to 6 o'clock the room started to fill up. At a few minutes past six we were invited up to a table where a catered vegan feast was set up. There was tofurky chicken in a delicious barbecue sauce, basmati rice, broccoli, two kinds of salads, and homemade sunflower seed salad dressing. The meal was catered by Chef Brook Katz. Everything was so delicious. For dessert they served vegan orange chocolate chip cake. I loved it, but Clyde wasn't crazy about the cake. I had no problem finishing his piece. After the meal the owners of Choices Organic Cafe, three vegan restaurants in Miami, spoke to the group. They talked about their reasons for opening the restaurants and their plans to expand throughout Florida. They're hoping to open restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach next. The evening ended with a raffle for ten prizes. Everyone was given a free raffle ticket and you could buy more for $1.00 a ticket. We bought extra tickets. I won a canvas bag from Choices. EarthSave puts on a catered vegan dinner and program on the last Friday of each month. The dinner is free, but they would like you to RSVP to brookkatz@hotmail.com or call 954 971-4432 I think EarthSave North is part of EarthSave Miami, for people who live north of Miami. Their motto is, "Healthy People Healthy Planet". You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to attend their events. I had a great time and I'm looking forward to going back next month.
