For instance if I am looking at most of there lighting I can get the same light fixtures Brand new and cheaper on Wayfair or overstock.com delivered with the ability to return. Whoever does their pricing is way out of touch with what used furniture thrift store furniture should cost they have the same furniture week after week because it's priced way too high. Contacted them via email to ask about dropping off a couch, even sent a picture, and was told yes they would take it. Loaded on truck and drove over and they refused stating that they didn't have space. Showed short guy in back the email and he still refused. Waste of my time! I've been to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Simi Valley four or five times now, and every visit has been a great experience. The staff is consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The first time I went in was right before Christmas, when I had just moved into my new home and needed a dining room table for Christmas dinner. I was able to find exactly what I needed, and they even helped me load it into my car. I later went back and found a family room table at a great price as well. Most recently, I stopped in looking for a single cabinet knob to replace one that was missing--and once again, they came through. Their selection is impressive, even for small items, and the people who work there are always kind and willing to help. Great prices, great selection, and genuinely friendly people. I tried to donate furniture to Habitat for Humanity but their drivers only take items in pristine condition. Their website referred me to "ReSupply" who quoted me around $250 to take my donations for them. When they arrived the price skyrocketed to $660! They had loaded up before I agreed to the price and I ended up paying $300 for them to take 3 items, and was charged extra for stairs they never climbed. I wasn't expecting to have to negotiate price to donate my furniture or I would have compared prices for junk companies. So disappointed. read more

I saw a mirror listed for $175 while amazon listed at $132. When I asked is this the wrong price when the employee said I'm sure they didn't do the correct research on this one, let me get someone to help you. The suppose manager comes up. I have donated to them multiple times. My one caveat is before you bring things in to donate, call them to ensure that they can accept the items. Otherwise your trip may be a waste. read more

I can't recommend this organization well enough. We're downsizing and we had to donate a lot of furniture and house goodies. Filled out online form to donate a nice sofa in great condition, the site wouldn't allow me to upload pic. I spoke with a person from the store on two separate occasions before the pickup date and got confirmation for a pickup time. They called the day before and told me I was the first stop at 8am. The day came and at 9:30am the driver called to let me know he was on his way and asked for a picture. I sent the picture that he then sent to the store manager, the manager told him not to come and pick it up. Would've been nice to know this prior to the day of. Totally unprofessional, would not recommend. Also, this donation piece was very nice, ended up donating to another charity and they called to thank me. 2/3 of the workers who helped me were very kind. Aiden asked me if I needed any help just as I started thinking that I would like help from a worker. Since Aiden is a new hire, Alainah helped me out as well. She was so kind and I could not recommend her more. Aiden also carried the item I bought out to my car. However, when I got to the checkout, there was a man who was talking about rape. It was extremely uncomfortable. As a victim myself, it was hard to hear. I don't think anyone should be talking about subjects like that at work, and especially not around customers. I didn't get his name, but Alainah would know. Please talk to him about that. read more

Well my family and I have been coming in the location for years it has always been pleasant ...this prices are a bit high but you can ask for a little discount and some times they have given me a few dollars off sometimes not which is fine by me. it doesn't hurt to ask. however, went there to just look around my husband found some stick tile he wanted so I asked the guy checking us out if he could take a little off and he freaked out! It was so scary!!! The manager lady came over and didn't say a word just walked away like she was afraid of him and she has always been very nice. I will never go in there again. A great place to browse, and find stuff at a discount price. They don't have everything but then neither does Lowes or Home Depot. We have found great deals here and unique stuff too! You can donate new or close to new items here. They don't accept junk. Often contractors bring in there leftovers and extras. Maybe they have an extra sconce or cabinet or tiles. Come here and look! This is like a treasure hunt! They sometimes have appliances, dishes, collectibles, artwork or rugs. Maybe you need some construction materials or a sink. I've found lots of great items. You can donate what you don't need after you finish remodeling! (Don't let that stuff go to the landfill!) Did you know you can Voluteer at the store here too? This is a fantastic organization! We used to come here to buy both materials and furniture. We also used to donate here as well. We will no longer be doing either. Restores have always been the thrift stores for the low income /working class DIY homeowner or renter to be able to find ways to fix/upgrade and customize their homes but not have to go broke doing so. Sadly, who ever is pricing items at this location has lost sight of that. Items are grossly over priced for their brand new current retail priced counterparts, let alone to be competitive with other thrift stores like goodwill or Salvation Army furniture and household items. Sure, like any thrift store or used store sometimes items get overpriced, but the majority of items carry prices that are fair and affordable. This is not some downtown LA "antique store" priced for hipsters and interior designers or production set designers... this is a NON PROFIT thrift store meant to better serve the working class community of simi valley. These are all DONATED items, aka FREE items given to this store, the proceeds are to pay the employees, the overhead, and then benefit habitat for humanity. These items are ALSO supposed to benefit the community by being priced so that people who otherwise couldn't afford these things are able to furnish their homes and apartments and upgrade their quality of life sometimes just to basic creature comforts or necessary repairs (materials sold here as well). I understand rent may have been raised, I understand this location probably took a major hit during the pandemic, like everyone in our community did, but trying to deal with this by gouging your community on items you get for FREE from others within the community who think they are donating items so that their neighbors may benefit is shameful to say the least. How can a USED 2x4 at under 8' long with various holes left from old screws and nails, with remnants of drywall be $6.00 when it's $3.46 at Home Depot NEW?! Dinning sets with scratches and scrapes, and dings and chips that come new for $385 -$699are priced at almost $1000?! Bathroom sink vanities that are scratched and dented, with worn edges and missing handles are $100 - $200 + dollars more than they are NEW from Home Depot right now! Frames pictures that are $30 at Salvation Army are $110 here. Some reviews have mentioned how if you haggle with the owner you can get major discounts. Responses from this establishment to posts here mention to check back when items are ticketed on sale. This just shows how disconnected and shameless this place has become. Our neighbors here in simi who don't have the option to buy new, should not have to subject themselves to haggling just to buy a small sofa for a single mom and her kids to sit on. Why should they have to be subjected to not being able to walk into a store meant to serve the community and have the respectful experience of purchasing an item without the need to haggle and beg or plead for discounts? What about the language barrier that makes these "haggle discounts" even less available for some? And as for the response mentioning so called "sale prices" well, they should be just that, SALES, additional savings. Not simply bringing prices closer (not even as low as) regular retail prices. We will be taking our items to Salvation Army in the valley, or continue to leave reusable materials and appliances on the curb with signs "for free, works!" Vs bringing here. It's a shame as Habitat For Humanity does such great work, but this Restore does not benefit this foundation or this community with its insanely high prices. read more

This review is for the process of donating. I tried giving them two couches that were in very good condition and rarely used. I filled out the form online and sent clear photos of the couches. Someone from Habitat for Humanity saw the photos, described them as "vintage" to me in a voicemail, and said a truck will come by on the day I requested. When the truck arrived, the guys looked at the couches, agreed they were in great condition, but said they would not take them because the style is too old. What was the point of me sending photos? Even the person on the phone recognized the "vintage" look. If they don't accept that, they shouldn't send a truck over. I went into the store to see what they actually do take. They definitely have many types of old and new couches, so I'm confused as to what is acceptable. I doubt I will try to donate here again. read more

Habitat for Humanity must update its website to state it will only take new or near-perfect furniture. Caution: Anyone scheduling a pickup with this store will waste a lot of time and energy plus $15. I went online to schedule a pickup of a club chair and sectional sofa in excellent condition. Both are from Restoration Hardware and have slipcovers and down cushions with no stains or tears. I paid the $15 fee and waited for the scheduled pickup. When the truck arrived, the men were excited about the "like new" condition of the pieces but said they couldn't take them as there was no room. They asked to reschedule for the following week as they would love to have them, which I did. The following week, the second truck came with 2 different guys. They refused to take the items because there was some discoloration of the slipcovers from the sun and age (the slipcovers had some variation in tone of color). They said if I could wash the slipcovers to remove the discoloration, they would return and take them. They also found some dog hair, which they said was not acceptable. They said management is very picky and won't take anything that isn't near perfect. I should note that the men who came to pick up the items both times were very courteous and professional. read more

Well I visited to Simi Valley rehab for humanity store on labor Day weekend Saturday. We doing an extensive renovation of a rental property can I could use any number of things. however I must have picked a really bad day to go in because there's really next to nothing I can make use of. At another location for rehab for humanity store my best discovery was a $15,000 marble fireplace mantel. It was new in the box with what I would call a very minor potential defect... It had a hairline crack developing in one piece in a prominent location. We we're very careful about installing it and now it's in place at another rental property in Oxnard. It was marked $500... But my wife said to wait till arbor Day weekend because there was a coupon for one-third off one item. So I nervously waited week fearful somebody else would buy it. When the weekend came I found it was still there and marked down again in half to $250. With my one-third off coupon it came to $162 for a $15,000 fireplace. When I claim $15,000 it's because I found the exact same thing at a local fireplace store in Thousand Oaks at that ridiculous price. In all fairness the ridiculous price was actually going to rehab for humanity fireplace set at $250 -33% for a net $162! So on this occasion at Simi Valley I only picked up two long pieces of flashing that I'm going to use to try in effect a repair to a roll-up garage door to reinforce it and restore full function. I tried to get hardware in the back right corner how to store finding only bolts and washers. Surprisingly they have almost zero nuts. The loose hardware is sold by the pound for take a dollar or $2 what are its nails or the things. Actual handles were priced by the piece for as little as a dollar. I'll still go back maybe one more time in the weeks ahead but after that my projects will be done. read more

Thought I would give the store another try! I needed ceiling fan blades for a crafting project. I thought what could they possibly charge for a used set of ceiling fan blades that were donated to them. $100.00 is what they are charging and that is with no hardware! I have never bought ceiling fan blades before but thought was a bit pricey. So I head to Lowes for a few things and figured I would see what they had to offer. Well Lowes had the exact set for $19.98!! I'm not sure who is doing the pricing over at Habitat but they really need to do better research on the items they are selling or stop day drinking!!! read more

This place is absolute clown shoes. They get literal garbage for free, and mark it up 100-400%. They sell items that are unsafe/useless. Why are you selling rusty garden tools with splintered wood handles, empty bottles of propane, used crusty cans of paint, and both empty AND recalled fire extinguishers? Don't bother trying to donate to this location unless you are donating a brand new item in pristine condition. I have a really nice solid oak dresser in excellent condition that would make a great addition to a child's bedroom. My daughter has moved on and I will soon be downsizing. I called Habitat for Humanity to pick it up. I provided a photo as requested. I was even going to throw in a small newer table I no longer have use for. The men showed up and refused to take the item even though it is much nicer than what I've typically seen in thrift stores. They were concerned about a tiny paint splatter barely noticeable at the bottom and rejected the item. If Habitat for Humanity wants to stock their store with donations of new goods only, they should make that clear from the get go. They need to remember they aren't Ethan Allen and need to accept donations accordingly. read more
