This park has just gone down hill fast. City of Chattanooga - why don't you take care of this park. It's so muddy. No one picks up after their dog. There is absolutely no shade. This could be such a great spot, seeing as it's right behind the Chattanooga Market. Someone please do something about this place. It's such a shame. read more

I enjoy coming to this park but wow it needs some TLC. Major holes in fence, I've witnessed dogs escaping. The benches are poorly placed and one is broken. There are large holes where dogs dig, like very large. And the amount of dog poop left in the grass is crazy. On multiple occasions, skate park attendees will leave their dogs unattended at the park and this has caused issues. Just wish the city would do more to make this place better for our furry friends! read more

Not Great I drove past this park a lot and thought it might be good, but it is not. First off, you have to pay to park. A PUBLIC PARK and you still have to pay. Second, there was not much shade for benches to sit on. No poop bags or working water fountains. There was no other dogs there when my dog and I were so it was boring. You smell asphault and emmisions from the interstate. The best part of the park was watching the skaters. With the graffiti penis and lack of amenities, it is obvious that the city does not take good care of this park. I would rather drive further each day than go there. read more

While enjoying our little Hurrication we had to find a local dog park for our fur children. The Chattanooga Chew Chew was a great park, well kept, full of toys and equipment for dogs to enjoy. They even have a separate areas for small dogs which is nice. Our fur babies definitely enjoyed running around the park and playing and we surely enjoyed having them exhausted for dinner. read more

3/25/2012 visit. This dog park has been here since 2004, but we just found it today and I'm glad we did. There is plenty of free parking and you have a choice of two parks, one for smaller dogs and one for bigger dogs. Bith have drinking fountains and double locking gates. All the dogs and owners were well behaved and all the dogs played well together. There were a few muddy spots, but that is to be expected with the rain we have had recently. Large open play areas with new planted trees that will shade the area when they grow in. read more

Great park. Lots of room for even big dogs to run and play. I really like that there wad a separate area for small dog owners to take their pets if they prefer to. Plenty of water, poop bags, and only one small area seemed to have spots where dog owners didn't clean up after their dogs. read more

This is one of the worst dog parks we've been to. The entry was moved which puts you directly into the mud. Always muddy at the main entrance-why they moved it we don't have a clue. Today Thr 11/29 the fence to the small dog area was partially removed and a bench pulled out and laying on the ground. The way this park looks you would have to assume their about to close it down and start building. Not inviting even though it's a great location. read more

I take my dog here mostly everyday. She absolutely loves it! The only problem is that there is a muddy spot by the water bowls. There is a separate spot (picture above^) for smaller dogs. There is also a skate park beside the dog park and it is fun to watch the skaters. This is a really cool park. I totally recommend it read more

This park was pretty lack luster. It was just a fenced in area with more dirt spots than grass. There were a couple fire hydrants. That is unique amongst the dog parks my pups and I have visited, which is why it got more than one stars. There were also a hurdle and tunnel. It would serve as a desent place to let your dog stretch his or her legs after traveling. read more

Of the five off-leash dog parks in the area, the Chew Chew is the only one that's really IN Chattanooga. Chew Chew - City Center, Chattanooga + 4.8 miles White Oak Dog Park - White Oak/Knollwood in Red Bank +11.4 miles Greenway Farms - North Chickamauga Creek Greenway/Hamilville in Hixson +12.0 miles Heritage Dog Park - Shady Rest/Drake Forest, borderline East Brainerd +19.7 miles Collegedale Dog Park - Collegedale Greenway in Collegedale/Ooltewah And as such, the state of disrepair is hugely disappointing =( CONS: - gaping holes in the perimeter fence - entry gates that are largely inoperable - separation gate between big dog and little dog enclosures that cannot be secured - no functioning water fountain in big dog encl. + only partially functioning in little dog encl. - no bags or scoopers for picking up dog waste - the little dog enclosure runs the full length of the big dog enclosure, so I see a lot of barrier aggression/fence aggression that would be avoided if the two enclosures were not touching. - unlike dog parks that are landscaped or maintained, this park isn't particularly pretty - occasional, but sudden/unexpected loud noises (either from events at the pavilion or thee adjoining skate park) might be hard on particularly sensitive dogs PROS: - location - plenty of parking - park patrons tend to be very warm and friendly - owners seem to manage dog behavior responsibly, better than anywhere else - nice proximity to the Sunday farmer's market and other events at the TN Pavilion - sufficient seating - decently sized - plenty of agility training obstacles - a picnic table and an observation bench located just outside the fence Some won't appreciate the lack of shade (personally, I don't mind because I'm a germaphobe and hope the direct heat of the sun keeps parasites under control). The park is covered in natural grass, which gives way to mud and standing water during periods of high rain, but I wouldn't say its any worse than any other dog park. Attendance seems to be more evenly spread out over the course of a day, so it never feels too populated/busy and there's no doggie rush hour to avoid. If you also have children, there is a skate park and outdoor roller rink within sightlines. With repairs to the fence, gate and water fountains, I would raise my rating to 3.5 - 4 stars. read more

The Chattanooga Chew Chew is a great 2 section dog park featuring lots lots of running space, double gates for the escape artists and even some training structures. We were visiting Chattanooga for just a week but were happy to see there was a place for our dog to play with other dogs. I was also excited to see that over half the dogs were also pitbull mixes and no one was wary. It was a little hard to find, behind a big warehouse but once we found it we were impressed with the condition and space. read more

This dog park is huge as compared with what I'm used to! I've been to a bunch of dog parks in southern California, but this dog park much bigger than all except for the Huntington Beach park. That's an unfair comparison so I won't go any further with it. There's only one thing keeping this park from getting a 5-star rating from me. The fence isn't well maintained. The locking mechanism on the one door has been ripped off and it looks like it's been that way for a while. Overall, great park and I will be returning with my Shiba Inu, Stella! read more
