I had a heart attack and was transferred from Urgent Care to Parkridge (McCallie Ave). After a couple days of tests to determine the treatment needed, we found I needed double bypass surgery. The doctors and surgeons made me feel comfortable with what was ahead, explained why it was my best option, and put me at ease. I would like to personally thank Dr Martin, Dr Wiisenan, Dr Golding, AG-NP Cindi Cross for the excellent care I received. Cindi saw me everyday to check my status and see how I was doing. The doctors came by often too. I didn't have everyone's names but hope they can pass on my gratitude to their teams. Also being there almost 10 days, I had numerous nurses that went above and beyond watching over me. In the ICU, Mark and Dee Dee were exceptional at their skills while I was right out of surgery and feeling the worst. They saw to my every need like we were related. Amanda and Mason took care of me a couple days before I was discharged. I'm sorry I cannot remember all the names of my nurses from the other floors but please express my most sincere gratitude for their efforts. I've never stayed at Parkridge Hospital before but I have stayed in several other hospitals. I have to say Parkridge has been my best experience by far. Even the food was better than most hospitals. You have some amazing people doing great work there! THANK YOU PARKRIDGE!

I was trying to get help with drug detoxing before I would go into withdrawal symptoms. But they wouldn't accept me until I was in withdrawal. In other words they wanted me to be needlessly suffering first. They also concluded that I wasn't withdrawing because my blood pressure was normal. In the literature, blood pressure can in some cases be normal during withdrawal symptoms, so should not be taken alone for diagnosing this symptom. They did not want to address my individual needs, but rather wanted me to fit their cookie-cutter criteria to find the easiest garden variety cases they could find. Don't waste your time here if you are looking for a hospital and staff that actually cares.

Apparently ignoring that, the dragon said he would have this reaction to ANY type they put him on and that he should go to an ENT because they don't have what they need to do further tests that they couldn't do. (For what? She didn't say. We already knew he had an ear infection from his first visit and the steroids WERE helping until he had the reaction.) When I asked if she was refusing further medical treatment at this time she said No! Of course not! If he wants to come in- Apparently having forgotten that she had said before that they didn't have what they supposedly needed to test him. Insurance fraud on top of everything?

I felt very comfortable with her. She is why there is an extra star. However, I had gone in for a filling and was not impressed with the bedside manner of the dentist nor her assistant during the procedure. I had told the dentist that I was experiencing pain and discomfort and she seemed visibly annoyed that I was expressing a need. She stopped to get numbing medication and I asked the assistant if she was frustrated with me because of response to me expressing pain. I told her I wasn't intentionally trying to cause issues. She said "no, this is just how she is" which made it worse to consider I probably wasn't the only one who got this sort of response. When she returned she didn't prepare me but immediately put the syringe in my mouth and jabbed it in before I realized it making me jump at the pain and suddenness. In addition, when I returned for a 2nd filling the assistant (different from previous person) had a not so great bedside manner similar to dentist and during procedure she was talking about me in front of the dentist like I wasn't there. Lastly, I also witnessed some cultural insensitivity a couple different times when Spanish speaking patients came in and the staff sounded like they were talking to children. I am very disappointed. I can respect that people have bad days as I have been there myself as I work in an adjacent profession providing care to more vulnerable people. I understand they are over-worked and dealing with a potentially challenging population but come on, do better, and show more respect because your patients are especially vulnerable considering these are lower income/lower resourced folks.
