I was a patient of this hospital for 4 necessary procedures. The first I was in for one week, then…read morefor 3 weeks, another surgery that was a little under a week, and then for a same day surgery. On the long stays, the nurses were wonderful. I was in my own room, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and everyone was so nice, helpful and caring. They took good care of me. My last two surgeries where with a wonderful doctor who worked out of that hospital. On my 4th one, his team had to streamline the hospitals they would work out of as it was a good haul for them from their main office. I really wanted to be at Chi and not another hospital, and this fine surgeon worked it out with another doctor there to switch a shift so that my surgery could happen at Chi Memorial. Like the show Cheers, I was happy to be back to the hospital where everybody knew my name! It is my home hospital, where I am happy to go should I need their attention! ER waiting rooms are different. Waits can be long, even when it seems that they do not have a lot of people waiting. But not every emergency comes through those doors. Some come through other doors that we may not see. I am betting that some staff have to treat more than people who are coming through the ER door. I never felt anyone was being negligent. There are stages, and depending on what needs to be done, shorter or longer waits. From the people who take your information and then move it out, then the ones that take your vitals, then the ones that take your blood samples, then the lab technicians who have to analyze those blood samples or whatever is sent to them, and then being ushered inside to a room if necessary, where finally a nurse will come in, and then after her the doctor, and finally the nurse to release you. That is a heck of a lot of people for one emergency room patient (me). I know I can feel like it's forever, so just try to remember that inbetween treating you, the medical staff may need to first save a life of someone who coded before they could come into your room. All praise to all of the hospital staff! Each time I wished I could give them a gigantic bouquet of flowers!

My daughter was admitted for pneumonia and rsv. She was sent to Children's Hospital at Erlanger. By…read moreday 2 we were told our daughter's weight was a problem. Some back ground info my daughter was tube fed from the time she was 2 till about two years ago. During this period of time most feedings and there were 3 a day ended in vomiting. We tried many brands and they had same ending. She had a gj tube which was supposed to bypass the stomach meaning no vomiting but that didn't work either. The day she finally gave food a chance which took years cause she was afraid she'd throw up she finally kept something down. From that point on we stopped using the tube and she ate all by mouth. Hasn't thrown up since. Weight gain is slow and it doesn't help that she had 3 back to back growth sperts which left her weight in the dust. Despite eating 3 meals a day she doesn't gain fast. I had same issue as a kid. I could eat all day and gain nothing. When I was her age I was maybe 70lbs. I didn't get to 90 till high school. And yet 90 is what she said she should weigh. Also my daughter has no muscle mass to speak of because of her physical issues and muscle carries more weight then fat so honestly she weighs what she should given that fact according to her physical therapist. Any way. While at the hospital the doctor pushed the weight issue and barely spoke about what she was there for. By day 3 I told her I'd take her to whatever follow up I needed to but she needed to be sent home. Katie had become depressed. Was refusing to eat the hospital food. She was hardly able to sleep cause people came in and out through the night. Her sheets on that bed had never been changed the entire time she was there and she was never bathed not even a sponge bath. I wanted my kid outta there as fast as possible so that she could get sleep and a bath and a clean environment. Not to mention she likes my food so I knew she'd eat better. I told the doctor that I was willing to follow her instructions and to give her bigger portions and extra snacks and things of that nature to try to build up her weight, but you can't force feed a teenager when they feel full than they're full, but I will give every opportunity for her to eat or drink more. At that point she told me she had made an appointment for me for the nutritionist and a pediatrician and told me that my discharge papers were on the way I get home and 30 minutes later. I get a phone call from DCS saying that they got a referral about my daughter and that they need to Come and talk. and I guarantee it was the doctor that did it. Just unbelievable. You try to do what's right by your kid and then you get a slap in the face from somebody that doesn't even know you and thinks of your daughter as a dot on a chart. I took daughter to her pediatrician follow up couple days later. They agreed with me and physical therapist. They see nothing wrong. I wouldn't take your child to this woman or this facility. Horrible lady. Horrible hospital."
