The cheeseburger at the Chatterbox is so amazing we ordered it 3 times in our 5 day stay in McConnelsville. Done to perfection, the right amount of toppings with a side of fries, this burger is definitely worth 5 stars. Our second time in McConnelsville and our first time at Chatterbox Tavern. We enjoyed our meal very much. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had the haddock sandwich platter and the salmon. Both were delicious and prepared to perfection. We expected the broccoli slaw to be great but it was just average. Our other sides - onion rings, broccoli, and sweet potato fries were great. We brought home a couple of desserts because they sounded too good to pass up. While it is not likely for us to be in McConnelsville again, if we are ever anywhere close, this place is worth a little extra travel. Quality of the food and experience are more important than price to us, but others may be glad to know that this restaurant is reasonably priced and a good value for the price. read more

I still remember the first time I ever went to the Chatterbox Tavern, It was when I was in the 6th grade, me, my brother, and my cousins all ran here with my uncle after a Morgan Raiders football game for some food and some pool! I was still new to Mcconneslville, so the rush of running over and finding this awesome little corner establishment really was a highlight in my life. As I continued to get older I was able to see this establishment change year after year, from a dive sports bar, to more of a nice eatery/bar. My parents would always find there way here, and when we were of age my brother, cousins and myself would stop by have a few drinks and reminisce. I've had friends of mine grow up with me and end up working here for a while. It felt so strange having a bar be one of my favorite places as a growing child. But even at the age of 13, I knew this place was special. Vickie said it right, It really is a bar where everyone knows your name. And thats a fantastic sinsation. read more

We thought we'd support a local business and eat here tonight, big mistake. The place wasn't busy, only seen 3 take out orders and it took over 45mins to get our food. Our order wasn't anything crazy either, traditional wings and a steak sandwich. When our food finally came, after I asked about it, the fries were cold and the wings were boneless, unacceptable. I am in love with the Chatterbox Tavern. My boyfriend brought me here a couple times before we were dating, and I fell in love with the small-town atmosphere where everyone knows your name and the owner, Steve, is friendly and welcoming. The beer is always ice cold and the staff is awesome. But then there's the food. The Chatterbox has some of the best food I've ever had. Their spinach salad with the tuna steak? Absolutely to die for. The spinach is fresh and crisp, and includes a whole hard boiled egg, some crumbled bacon, a hot bacon dressing, and then there's the tuna. A big steak, grilled to perfection (medium is best, I find) and melts in your mouth. It's not even marinated, just seasoned and perfectly cooked. If you ask him, Steve will tell you what's in everything, how it's made. My boyfriend got the Ribeye once-and although Ribeye is a notoriously fatty cut of meat, this was lean and juicy and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The homemade carrot cake is also pretty close to perfect, with the right balance of sweet and spice. Great prices for the amount of food you get. The sausage & potato soup should be on your must-try list...it's really out of this world and perfect for a cold fall/winter day. The kitchen's open until 11pm, so it's a great way to fill up before you drink up. :) The Chatterbox Tavern has amazing food, a cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff and patrons. Love, love, love it. Only thing open late at night when my husband and I got into Stockport. We back-tracked into McConnelsville and the only open thing in town: Chatterbox. I'll admit, I was leery when I pulled up. Tavern=bar=drunk loud idiots and greasy gross food. That was the only option, so we girded our loins and headed in to find... A small restaurant that just so happened to serve alcohol. Cleaner than most such places I've been, didn't leave me smelling like grease. I wasn't blown away by the food, but it was good. The hamburgers are the diameter of my hand with my fingers spread. My biggest downsides were the looks we got when we walked in ("Who are these strangers?") and the slow service. The biggest upside was the cleanliness. read more

The Chatterbox Tavern is a cozy restaurant that serves alcohol. I love the Spinach Salad and usually have shrimp added to it. The ribeye is really good and cooked exactly the way I order it. So we get here, have to wait 25mins in a booth with dirty dishes still on the table. Finally a lady notices that several tables have not been served! We finally get drinks and then 15mins later we get to order, yes it was a busy night but there is no leadership, no guidance so we'll see how the food even turns out!!! read more

This was my second time eating here. Around the corner from the square, this quaint restaurant looks like nothing to brag about until you open their door ;) Immediately you are greeted by wait staff with smiles and friendly greetings. You can't tell from the outside, but once you enter this quaint little restaurant, it's woodwork warm, with nostalgia, booth and table seating. Their 100% Angus Beef steaks are mouth watering full of flavor, salads are large and fresh, shrimp are huge on shrimp cocktail and as good any I've ever eaten on the coasts! This place is clean and well kept. Staff stay super busy making sure everything you ordered is ok, refilling drinks and attentively asking if anything is needed. Not a really large place but they do take reservations ;) Counter and barstools with drinks available if you ever did need to wait for a table. Compared to many 'city' places, on the exterior, Chatterbox looks 'nice' but 'plain jane' on the front. If you blink, you'll miss it because it doesn't stand out. I think the locals are trying to keep it their secret LOL I choose this place over any 'franchise' restaurant every chance I have :) Wish more establishments were as accommodating and cooked food this tasteful.
