We had used this company before and were very pleased, so we called them again. We were told they would come to give an estimate sometime between 8 am to 3 pm but would text us 30 minutes before, since I explained that I was at an appointment close by but hubby would be home. I got the text saying he would be at the house in 5 minutes, & arrived in 7 minutes. Took me 13 minutes to get back, & even though my husband explained what we needed, but that it would be better to talk to me, the fellow refused to wait. He didn't even pay attention to what hubby was telling him. I find it incredible that the customer has to wait for potentially 7 hours, but this company can't even wait 13 minutes, & do not give a proper arrival time. Absolutely the best job done!! I was the 1st appointment. I was told before noon and they....all 8 of them, were here at 7:30am. My dead tree was down and the debris was gone by 8:30. Because of the rain the stump was removed the following day. But I am extremely happy with this business. This is the second time we used Cheap Charlie's to take care of trees. This time, we had to cut down a huge 30 year old tree in the front yard. It was damaging the sidewalk and starting to lose large branches with even minor winds. The tree was down and the stump was shredded within an hour and a half. The crew was professional and we watched them work in awe. They were taking huge branches and just tossing them aside. We made sure there were no neighbors parked too close so they were able to work rather freely. We did have an issue with the estimate. They gave us a 9-4 window. He stayed home so that he could meet with them and ask advice and options. Nobody showed up and our calls were unanswered. The next morning, someone showed up and left an estimate in the door. A little later, another person came with a vastly different estimate. They honored the lower quote and did a great job. I was happy with their service despite the issues with the estimate. read more

When Cheep Charlie took my tree down on May 16, 2016, they were professional and took down a 50 foot tree in 55 minutes. I would recommend them to everyone. However, they were scheduled to come my house to trim a tree on April 2nd, but never showed or called. Then again on April 5th they were another no show, no call. I cannot recommend them anymore. Do not hire this company unless you love aggravation! I can't comment on the quality of their work, as they twice never showed up for scheduled appointments. Not only do they not show up, they don't even have the decency to contact you. First time they told me the next day that they couldn't call me back, after numerous attempts on my part to contact them, because they could not make outgoing phone calls on their office phones. Let me begin by agreeing with some other reviewers who have said that the owner is basically rude, arrogant and unprofessional. Make sure you read the negative reviews as they tell all to stay away. I asked for an estimate to have my tree "trimmed" as it was getting too large all around. When they came to do the work, i asked the foreman what they were going to do and he said that they were going to elevate and prune and when i asked him in lay terms he explained that they were going to completely remove approximately the lower third of the tree to the trunk and then clean up any dead branches from the remaining tree. I told him no, that is not what i wanted and he told me that I , me , I should have asked for "shaping" as if am supposed to know there inside lingo. They left without doing anything, After many calls, Charlie showed up and i told him what happened and what i wanted. He knew I did not want what his crew was originally going to do. I described what i wanted and he assured me NOT to worry, he would take care of it. The crew came back and the foreman told me he had spoken to Charlie directly and he started setting up his workers. I went inside and when I came out a few minutes later, they had already started removing large tree limbs from high up the tree. They butchered and hacked my tree and basically did what I said I did not want by completely removing the lower third of my tree. HORRIBLE I called Charlie and like I said... I have used Cheap Charlie's twice in the past, once at my mother's house and once to remove a very large tree at my house. I found the service was adequate and the price while not exactly cheap was the best I could get when getting estimates from one or two other companies. So, when I decided to have a couple of smaller trees removed in my back yard it was a no-brainer to call Cheap Charlie's. They sent someone out in a timely fashion to give me an estimate and after reviewing the estimate I called to set up an appointment for yesterday, Friday May 3rd. The office called me on Thursday to confirm my appointment and said the crew would arrive after 12PM. I took a day off work to be home for these guys and I patiently waited....and waited.....and waited. At about 3:10 I called the office to see what was up only to get an answering machine that said the office closed at 3. While that did raise a red flag, I still was expecting them to show up because I assumed that the crews in the field probably still worked even after the office closed. I left a message on the voice mail....also called back a half hour later and left a second message. They never showed up, not even a phone call...and I had my phone by my side the whole day, the same phone they called me on the day before to confirm my appointment. So, I took a day off work and waited around a whole day wasting my time for these people to not show up. I made an appointment to get my tree examined to see how much it would be to prune, trim some low hanging branches and remove some very large branches that were hanging over the house. When the estimator came back and I got an estimate for $600 I jumped on it. The last time I had an estimate from another company it was $900 just to remove the branches hanging over the house. They came yesterday and I couldn't be happier, the work was quick, efficient and they did whatever I needed them to do. There is one branch left that I should've had removed but that's on me. Although I'm not the person who hired this tree service I have to comment on what a great job they just finished. Within an hour they removed huge tree from our neighbor's yard. They cleand up so well that you would never have known that they were there. And except for a little ground cover nothing else was damaged. Super efficient! The guys were very accommodating when asked if we could get some firewood. They gave us and a couple of our neighbors plenty. As fast as you can imagine I've have now a huge supply of firewood that would easily take me through a couple of winters. They even helped me move the wood to where I was going to stack it and delivered a huge stack to the neighbor who contracted them. To be honest, after reading all of the bad reviews on here, I was hesitant to call, but we were assured by the people who suggested Cheap Charlie's to us that this is a great company. I called to schedule an estimate on 7/29 and someone showed up the next day and gave me an estimate of $1500 to remove a very large, dying tree. I also had a smaller tree and stumps around my yard that needed to be removed and they included that for only $100 more. I called the next day to confirm an appointment for the removal, which was going to be 2 weeks later. That was fine with me, I understand how busy it can get. The day before removal, they called to confirm the removal and gave me a window (12pm - 3pm). Cheap Charlie's arrived promptly at 12pm with an entire crew and all of the equipment. I could not believe how fast they worked! They took down the tree in about 1 hour and spent another 45 minutes cleaning up. They really did a wonderful job, especially for the price! read more

Every time I called, there was confusion over who, what, when, where and why. All I got were excuses as to why the estimator never showed and was promised 3 times, he would DEFINITELY be there at a certain time and naturally, never showed up. No call, nothing. I called Cheap Charlies to have tree branches trimmed over my driveway in February. I asked them if they would have the proper equipment to get high up, they assured me that they have a bucket truck to reach the high branches. When the guys showed up, they they wanted to only cut a few branches immediately over the driveway, i called Jimmy and asked them to do more. I gave them another $200 to trim a few additional branches. They did not show up with the proper equipment and were not able to get high up above the driveway. After about 6 calls, I spoke with Jimmy again. He promised that he would send the crew back to correct the job, but it is August now and no one has come. I was originally disappointed in the service that I received, however after a few calls, messages and time... we were able to come to an agreement.
