The perfect Mother's Day lunch. We had gone to a garden for a morning walk and this was our lunch spot. I got the small Griefo (no mushrooms) on their garlic loaf. Sometimes the veg selection just hits the spot and today was one of those days. This sammie has cream cheese, guacamole, pepper jack, mixed greens, tomato, onion, pickle, cucumber, black olive, green bell pepper, shake and house dressing. This was my first Cheba food experience which is crazy considering how long I've lived here. We stopped by during a lunch rush to grab some sandwiches to take to a brewery after perusing the menu online beforehand. The guy at the counter was sitting down and relaxed and super friendly, chatting about the Avs game with us. The sunken bar had a nice crowd around it for the middle of the day and all the window seats were full as well. I got the 8" Kali Mist minus the jalapeños and went to wait by the Kool-Aid machine. Considering how packed it was, the sandwiches came out very quickly, were rolled into a blunt shape in foil, packaged and handed to us by the also friendly expo guy. The sandwich itself was delicious! The garlic bread was the perfect addition to the somewhat generous helping of meat and veggies in the sandwich. I like this location for the most part. The staff is friendly and cool except the long haired Asian princess who's the bartender. Not sure how long you've been here dude but you were kind of rude and pretentious last time I was there. All you did is talk to your three little friends that were sitting at the bar and kept showing them your phone and pictures of whatever. Then for some reason you guys closed at 8:00 p.m. on a Tuesday and failed to mention that to us. When I went up to get my second drink at 7:35 you said you already called last call. That's funny as we were sitting right next to the bar and didn't hear anything about it. This place is more than just a food joint. Hosting are some of the best well rounded people I've come across in ages. The food is Class-A work. My chef Zach made my food twice over an accidental allergy mix up. He didn't even hesitate to whip me up a whole new fresh sandwich and checked on me himself. The other staff member on Britt checked on me as well. Making sure I was alright and was fully taken care of. Haven't seen customer service like this in a long time. Love this place! First ever Cheba Hut I went to and I almost felt jaded haha. I've tried other Cheba Huts, but this is by far the best. Food is always to my liking and sooo filling. Service is so sweet and nice. As well as easy to talk to, no stress at all. The ambiance is nothing fancy but it's nothing sloppy or uncomfortable. Came in on 08-21-20. They are only doing online, delivery or carry out at the moment. That's ok we were going to eat outside. They had a BUNCH of delivery orders today. That's good. Staying busy. Staff was friendly and said they would accommodate some special requests we had. The wait for our order was around 15 minutes. You will need to wait outside if you just come in and place an order for carry out. Then here comes the issue, we get our food and the hummus was left off of mine. I specifically ordered that because I wanted the hummus. Sigh. So big disappointment. My husband's sandwich only had meat and cheese on it. It was missing the peppers. The people at the table next to us outside had ordered wheat bread and they got their order with white bread. Seems like they need to slow down and make sure they are actually making people's food the way they wanted. I would have been happy to have waited a few more minutes and got it the way I wanted and what I wanted. Probably won't come back. Always loved the food and likely will continue to shop here. My issue with todays experience was that my order took 25 minutes, which wouldnt normally be an issue. Incredibly disappointed with this Cheeba Hut. They forgot my cereal bar so I had to drive all the way back to get it. I then drove home and realized they forgot the au jus sauce for my sandwich. I called them to let them know they had forgotten half my order and had to drive back a second time and was offered a refund. When I got to the store, I was told they chanced their mind and would not give me a refund. Terrible customer service. Will not eat hear again. So to describe Chiba Hut I would have say it's a little like a retro tiki hut bar and sandwich shop that's not fully committed.
