I was really happy with Cyprus when I first opened my account more than 10 years ago but since then…read morethey have gotten worse and worse. Their fees have increased a lot. One thing I find really funny is that for their HQ, the branch I'm reviewing now, is that they have a large glass wall that leans out making the building crooked. A bank built a crooked building. It is literally a crooked bank.

Worst bank I've ever used! Stay as far away from these scammers as you can. I bought a car at…read moreMark Miller Toyota and thought I was getting a loan from Toyota Financial Services. A month later I get a bill from Cyprus Credit Union. You can't just pay your bill. You have to link an external bank account, either through Plaid or a small funds transfer. The account link failed multiple times with Plaid, so I used the funds verification. It failed as well. After two more attempts, and hours on the phone with their customer service, I was able to link my real bank account and make the car payment. When you click "Pay Now" it doesn't make a payment, it takes you to a funds transfer screen. You have to click "Details" to see what the actual payment amount is. My payment is supposed to be $311.66, but almost every month Cyprus asks for a different amount. Some months they only wanted $275. Other months they wanted $325. It's the most purposely convoluted system I've ever seen. Every other bill I've ever had clearly shows what the bill amount is and why when you pick the "Pay Now" option. Not Cyprus. You just have to guess what your bill is going to be, and why. Their customer service is useless and takes forever to get anything accomplished. They also send out texts that sound super scammy, asking for PII in an unencrypted text. Basically rule number one of avoiding scams is to not respond to requests for PII from unknown numbers, yet I've gotten texts from random numbers claiming to be CU multiple times. Rule two is to not share PII in unencrypted formats. This bank is run by amateurs.

But, I can tell you their business practices are still stuck in 1991. I received a letter from this company that a judgement has been placed against me. The letter outlined they have settlement options available. I follow up the day of receiving the communication. Brandi - was my point of contact. Out of office, immediately send an email listed in the letter. Follow up again, spoke with Brandi. I was told to make an offer on the settlement amount and it would need to go, to the owner for approval. I'm being asked to unexpectedly negotiate at this time. So, I offer roughly 60% of the debt. Owner will review and possibly counter offer. I get an email, Owner did not accept offer, no counter offer will be given. (Which, I did not dispute) Okay, How is this to be resolved? in terms of the payment schedule. You have 30 days to pay it off. Okay, lump sum payment in 30 days from this communication? Yes Payment options are ACH, Which you just send an email authorizing them to make your payment. No, written agreement or DocuSign. Just an unformatted communication. You can send in a cashier check, but if you do mail it in. We'll give you specific mailing instructions. As we are in a sketchy part of town. (So, any rationale thinking leads me to believe that mailed payments have been stolen from their offices) This is the dialogue that took place in just making the payment to resolve the matter. If you've made it this far in the review. Please do not, do business with this company. I don't dispute they have the right to collect on their debts. This debt was owed to them. But, god willing their is zero courtesy and professionalism in their business model. I would strongly advise to NEVER do business with this company.
