I have not had my car very long, but so far I have to say that I have had a pretty good experience with them. I live in Portland, and was looking at one of their cars, in Everett, Washington. I asked them if they would take it to a mechanic of my choosing in their area, and they gladly obliged. (Yay, Tener's auto repair!) I was given an honest appraisal of what needed to be done by Tener's, and while the owner of Tener's was skeptical before checking the car, he said it seemed okay, and gave me a list of things that it needed or would need before too long. Of course, like all dealers, Checkered Flag was going to give me half of what my car was worth in trade-in value. No way! So I sold my car myself, then continued my search for my new car. I found that this car, which I had had inspected, was still available. So I made a list of six cars, just the same kind that I wanted, along I-5 in Washington to look at in a day, and rented a car. I checked out the two other cars I was most interested in on the way up to look at this car, but I found that this car was the nicest, and at a reasonable price (mid-range KBB). So I decided to buy it. Negotiations on price were a bit sticky, but I had my recommendations from Tener's to help out. Then it turned out that they did not have much experience with out-of-state buyers, so completing the deal through my credit union was difficult. (Strange, since nearly all of the used cars are in the Seattle area. Why is that?) But after Scott made several telephone calls to the owner of the dealership and to my representative at my credit union (Yay OnPoint!) they sent me home with the car. I found out later that the fellow I dealt with, Scott, did not tell me everything that my agent at OnPoint had asked him to, such as that my loan could only be for 60 months rather than 72. And my agent (and I) thought that he had agreed to send the title down with me, after I signed a separate contract with them, just in case, which he did not do. (Fair enough, since sending the title down with me was a major act of faith. But they did not know how to conclude the transaction, so...) I signed the contract, but he did not make arrangements to send it down, let alone send it down with me. So now I have a three-day temporary permit, and have to wait until he sends the title to the bank before I can register the car. I will probably have to buy another permit (or two) out of pocket before the title arrives, which is not easy for me to do right now, rather than adding an extra one onto the loan. But all told, Scott was nice, and not in an oily, car dealer kind of way. He gave me a ride (several miles) to return my rental car, and seemed genuinely like a nice guy, with no sales pressure at all. I got a car that so far checks out and seems to be in quite good shape, considering that it is ten years old. Compared to other car dealers, I had a good experience, other than with paperwork and closing the deal. If others would have an experience like mine, I would recommend Checkered Flag Motors. read more

Not what you expect from a small used car lot!!! Customer's really DO finish first. They made sure the car I bought had good tires and brakes before I left, saving me hundreds in basic maintenance. 2 weeks after I bought it, the serpentine belt failed. They replaced it for free, and Ahmed the mechanic checked all belts, fluids, hose's and filters just to be sure I had no other issues. I also appreciated the low pressure sales pitch of Scott. Had my heart set on a vehicle at this dealership. It was THE ONE. I had done months of research and looked as far as 500 miles for the perfect car, which they had in stock. I tried emailing the company 3 times and only received one response, which didn't address my questions. I just needed to know if I could be approved with my credit score and my Mini Cooper Countryman trade-in. I just wanted to know what the tax, license, and fees were and what they would give me for my car. I never got any of these answers, and when I called the 2nd time, it was already sold. This process has made me not want to buy a vehicle in general. If you are look for a dealership that is good at following up, cares about earning your business, and is straight forward with numbers... look elsewhere. *first contact was May 25th, they told me it was sold June 16th, 3 weeks all to be disheartened... all my questions got this one answer "Please fill out a credit app on our website, and I will see what we can do for you." First car shopping/buying experience. Sorry for the long story. Went here once I saw that they were selling an 08 Civic Si. Right off the bat, you could see minor body damage and that the car had the wrong hood on it, no biggie to me. Got an appointment to see the car and thought sweet. Here's where things kinda tanked. We went to go take it for a test drive (my dad drove cause I can't drive a stick but wanted to buy a car to force myself to learn) and my dad checked the fluids first. Car had no coolant and and the clutch reservoir was almost empty. Test drive seemed fine after the salesman found some coolant, obvious signs of needing an alignment adjustment and the usual feelings of a used car. Kinda felt like I got suckered into buying it right there, they even took about grand off the price to have me buy it there that day upon our request a little too easily/quickly. Said they didn't know what was done to it and that their mechanic wasn't available. Asked them to look into it and they never got back to me on that. They were in such a hurry for the sale, they sent us home with the car, UNINSURED. I called them to ask if I was sending everything I needed and it was a MASSIVE PAIN to try to get insurance at 7pm on a Saturday night, because they couldn't wait for me to come back Monday. Got insurance after waiting for the dealer to give me more information they didn't give me that was essential to the company and so they could send a copy to the dealer. The finance company called me a few days later saying the dealership didn't give them all the info they needed and the dealer said to me some of that info was not needed when I signed papers. Then I took it to be inspected at the nearby Honda dealership. We didn't see the inside of the tires when we test drive it, but they had to have known what was wrong with the car but they said they didn't know. THE MASTER MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A MIRACLE WE SURVIVED THE TRIP HOME AND THAT I'VE BEEN PRACTICING ON IT FOR A WEEK. The insides of the front tires are toast! Left one is on the cables and the right one is on the last of the under-tread! The mechanic said it was a miracle to have survived even one trip on the highway, LET ALONE THE 4 IT HAS HAD SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I'm appalled that the dealer would have let us test drive a car that shouldn't even have been driving in the first place. On top of that, I'm looking at about DOUBLE MY DOWN PAYMENT ON THIS CAR in work that needs to be done and parts on the car that are being held together with PACKING TAPE. These guys are too blinded by the money and the sale to really care about their "5-star CarFax rating." If they cared, they should've AT LEAST made their car safe to test drive. I thank God for providing me with the miracle of it surviving this long without any injury or accident. Now the car has to sit for 2 months or longer before I can do anything to begin to fix it. Bad on me to have not been more thorough and not asked for a pre-purchase inspection. Be very careful with this dealership. read more

I honestly wish I could give these guys no stars! They sell absolute shit cars. Both of their lots haves on top of cars. We got a 03 Subaru and they told us that head gasket and Valve cover was done. The car had no oil in, was leaking, easily could have been a mistake on the installation. We ended up buying it and took it to our shop and to have the work done right. They start ripping in the car. And find more issues. And more less NONE of the work that we were told was done, had not been done at all. They call 2-3 days later see how it's going and told them what has been going down on the car and they hang up on me. I get that it is sold as is. But they should have real mechanic look over the car before selling it. read more

Sleazy dealership with dishonest salespeople. Wish I could give it 0 stars. I bought a 4Runner here in 2015 and the transmission had to be replaced a month later. The next summer the engine was overheating every other day and I ended up trading it in to a dealership for $500. The work they said had been done was NOT done, and the repairs I had to do just to get to work and back ended up being nearly as much as I paid for the entire car. Worst car experience one could possibly imagine. My mother and I both purchased overpriced used vehicles from them. First let me start by saying my moms transmission was blown within 3 weeks. My car developed lifter ticks. As part of the conditions of purchasing the vehicle I requested a headlight be repaired. Not one month later BOTH headlights are out. My vehicle was sold to me at nearly TWICE the Kelly blue book value. I could go on and on. This place is a complete RIP off and will not lift a finger to accommodate the customer. NEVER purchase your vehicle from them! I bought a vehicle from them about two months ago. They advertised it as a great running reliable vehicle. I bought the vehicle for $3500. Two weeks later I got a lifter tick because the car had no oil. It had leaked 4qrts of oil in two weeks! So I contacted them and they said they would help me out. So I got my vehicle towed back to them. Then they call me the next day and tell me to pick up my car and that they would not fix it, and they would not tell me why! I was pissed! So I took it to another shop and the vehicle ended up having 5 leaks!! After my car sat in a shop for almost a month I got it fixed and the total was $2800!!!!!! Checkered Flag Motors false advertised, pressure washed the motor to hide the fact of its horrible oil leak, and bailed on helping me out when they realized just how bad the car was! Not to mention the owner cussed me out over the phone when I told him I would be writing this review. So please no matter what the deal they are offering, skip it!
