When I walked into McGivern, I was immediately greeted and treated so kindly. Staff went the extra mile to help me and explain the timing, cost and options. My resizing and appraisals were completed in about 7 days which I thought was remarkable. My next trip in, I decided to resize a bracelet and reset a ring. Mike personally helped me and was incredibly helpful. Once my jewelry updates were complete- within the stated timeframe, by the way- I picked them up and I was absolutely floored at how beautifully they turned out. 1 Star Terrible…read moreexperience. I will not be returning. I brought my Omega Seamaster in for a helium escape valve/crown repair or replacement. Shlomo, the owner, told me the watch would be ready within one week. Two weeks later, Beth called and told me they had ordered the wrong part and would need another week. Then, oddly enough, she called me the very next day and said the watch was ready. When I went to pick it up, I was immediately pressured to pay before I was even given a chance to properly inspect the watch. I asked them to slow down because I wanted to make sure I was paying for the repair we had actually agreed upon. When I inspected the watch, the helium crown came right back off. What I found particularly frustrating was that, instead of acknowledging that the repair needed to be addressed, they challenged me as the owner of the watch and told me that I was unscrewing the crown too much. I know how I had been handling my own watch, so I found it very disappointing to have the problem attributed to me rather than simply addressing the fact that the crown had come off. I made it very clear that I wasn't trying to give anyone a hard time. I simply wanted to make sure I was paying for what we had agreed to, and I told them that I wanted to do good business and resolve the situation fairly. Rather than escalating the matter, I asked them to fix the watch and told them I was willing to give them additional time to do the repair properly. They apologized, and I left. Another two weeks passed before I was finally told the watch was ready again. I returned the following day, but Shlomo wasn't even there. Once again, before I could finish inspecting the watch, Beth was already pressuring me to make the payment. At this point, I just wanted my watch back so I could take it to an actual Omega dealership and have it properly inspected. I paid the amount we had agreed upon and left. As of writing this review, I honestly don't even know whether the watch has actually been repaired properly. Beth told me that it should be and that Shlomo had tested it to make sure everything was correct, but after my previous experience with the repair, I don't feel comfortable taking that at face value. I plan to have the watch inspected by an Omega dealership to determine whether the repair was actually completed correctly. My issue was never about refusing to pay or trying to give anyone a hard time. I was patient, reasonable, and gave them multiple opportunities to make things right. I simply wanted the agreed-upon repair completed properly and the opportunity to inspect the watch before paying. If you're trusting a business with an expensive watch, you expect professional workmanship, clear communication, and to be treated with respect when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I will not be returning.

Never been to this shop, but found it by Google search and figured I'd support a small business. Older gentleman was the only one in the shop - he took my watch and said he'd take a look. He opened up the watch and said the battery was "like new". I said, "Well thanks, I don't want to waste your time." He says, "Well, I've already got this all opened up." (!) I wait a few more minutes for him to tell me more, or return my watch. Nothing. After about 15 minutes of waiting, he finally exclaims from his workbench, "You may have to leave this here a while - I've never opened one of these up before and [nothing's going back together like it should]." I left my name and phone number and asked him to call me when it was ready to pick up. This was on Friday at lunchtime. No call comes the rest of the day, or the next day. Closed on Sunday, still no call Monday. Finally, after work Monday I go by to pick up the watch. He hands me the watch and says nothing. I say, "Did you end up putting a new battery in?" He says, "That one's like new." (So, no.) I say, "Do I owe you anything?" He says, "Well, I gotta charge you $12 for taking that thing apart and putting it back together." Here's the thing, I'm all about supporting the little guy and honoring their time. But what about my time? Dude took my watch apart without knowing he could put it back together, then never called to say it was done, kept it for three days, and didn't actually DO anything. If it was my shop, I might say, "Hey, I'm not gonna charge you today because I kept it for so long and didn't actually do any repair on it. Have a nice day. Come see me when the watch actually stops and we'll get it fixed up." Instead, the guy got his $12, but I'll never go back there again.
