As far as I'm concerned, Cheddars is great! Prior to visiting this place I'd heard nothing but great things about it. I was finally able to visit it on one of my many trips to longview and I have made an effort to go there as much as possible every since. The food was great (the talapia is superb), the service was great, and I loved their drink selection. Until I go there to mediocre service and food, I will continue to be a regular. read more

We have visited Cheddar's multiple times. Inexpensive for lunch or dinner. Good drink specials. I like the baked potato soup and club sandwich. The service can sometimes be hit or miss. Usually busy on weekends with long wait times. Frequently overrun by noisy children, even if you ask to be seated elsewhere. They have a gigantic aquarium in between the bar and dining area. Outdoor seating faces a rock waterfall/pool. Conveniently located on the NE side of town. read more

We visited a relative in Longview and they brought us to this place. Its gorgeous, the staff are all nice and the food is GREAT! We ate at this location twice this past week and both times the service was awful. The food is good, but the service on both occasions tells me I won't go back. I work hard for the money I earn and I refuse to give it to an establishment that doesn't appreciate their customers and a wait staff that charges a "service fee" for a table of 5 that they never pay attention to outside of taking your order and bringing you the check. Wanted Chicken Pot Pie, but was told they still weren't cutting the chicken up...even after speaking with the manager about it. If you want a chicken breast with crust, you might like, but when I order chicken pot pie, I want a nice crust with cut up chicken, vegetables and sauce inside. When we were told they were still not cutting up the chicken, I ordered the ultimate nachos...what a big mistake. Taco Bell puts them to shame at a fraction of the cost. If you want some chips overloaded with cheese and burger stuck in a microwave to the point that it looks like barf, with chips all soggy, you might like. read more

ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! We were a group of 9 with an elderly parent who uses a walker. We were told it was a 30 minute wait. it was Sunday afternoon 1.30, so OK. We had to ask for a chair so our Mother didnt have to lean on her walker for a half hour. Good thing we did because, after 45 minutes, a group our size who came in 10 minutes after us was called to their table. When we inquired, we were told that the group at the table where we were to be seated wasn't leaving yet. So their seating plan isn't "first AVAILABLE"; we were in line for the table the high school kid at the hostess station had THOUGHT would clear first. And then HE was rude to US when we asked why the other group was seated first. Told us we'd just have to wait & that it might be another 30 minutes because he couldn't "make the people at YOUR table leave". Maybe not, but he sure made US leave! I really love the food at Cheddars and it is very sad that the service is so poor. My friends took me there last night for my birthday and the experience was horrible from beginning to end. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The waiter brought our appetizers, no drinks, we told him we were ready to order but he said he would rather bring our drinks before taking our order. After a long time he brought our drinks, no straws, said he would be right back with straws, then he would take our orders. Another long time passed, he brought straws, then walked away again without taking our orders. We had to ask another waiter to send him back to take our orders. Finally orders were placed. When the food finally arrived to the table, we were missing soups and salads and rolls. By the time we got someone to come back over, we were almost finished with our meal. Soups and salads arrived after we were done. When we told the ticket needed to be split, he messed that up completely and two of my friends received a ticket with only one item on them, and my third friend received a ticket with everything else on it. At this point we had to get the manager involved to properly split the ticket. We tried to express how disappointed we were in the service and all she kept saying was that they had just letting him start serve, that he had been with them a long time and she thought he needed more training. Really, if he has been there a long time and could not wait on tables any better than that, I don't think training is going to help. Some people are just not cut out to be servers. So, did they comp any of the meal? Yes, but only a very small amount. This is not the only bad experience I've had there. One night my husband and waited over two hours for our food, the it was brought out in plastic containers because all their dishes were dirty. In two hours they couldn't manage to find some clean dishes. And we were the only people in the restaurant that night to have our meal served in plastic containers. Was any portion of this meal comped? NO Needless to say, I will not be back. Even the best food is not worth that kind of poor service. read more

Three of my friends and I went to cheddars in Longview to eat dinner. We sat down at about 9:30 and we ordered at 9:45. We ordered queso with beef in it. We got it about 15 mins later with no beef. We then waited for our food.. And waited.. And waited.. We finally got our food at 10:50. 10:50! That's an hour after we had arrived! Then we were rushed to eat and seriously rushed to cash out where he didn't leave our table until he had our money. I love cheddars. But the service seriously sucked. read more

Got there at 11am. I ordered Buffalo Strips and my wife ordered a burger. 38 minutes later I asked the waitress about our order and she said they had a big to go order they were working on. We love the food at Cheddar's but it is soooo slow every time we go there! Last night was no exception. We choose patio dining as it was quieter and less crowded when we arrived. As soon as we got there they cranked the music up to where we were practically yelling across the table to talk with each other. We were 1 of 2 families there at first, the waiter was prompt to get our drink orders (which was 4 waters and an unsweet tea, hardly anything special) However 4 more families arrived and somehow they all got their drinks and food before us. The waiter was inefficient in bringing out drinks and taking orders. When the food was brought out by servers it was clear they hadn't a clue where to go. We had to say no sorry not our food several times and yet still wait for our food while everyone else was getting theirs. Not once were our drinks refilled, we were missing several items on our order so it took another 10-15 mins to get our complete order. We scarfed down our food and asked for the bill. The waiter continued to fill other drinks, bring out other food and then finally brought us the bill. We literally just handed him our card. We got there at 630 and left at 830. Needless to say it will be our last time...well until we forget how slow it is!!!! read more

Never again. I have forgiven Cheddar's in Longview for its lousy service for the last time. I love the appetizers, the margaritas, and the overall price of the food, but the service is and always has been terrible. I'm sick of having aloof waiters who never bring what I've asked for. To give a good example: Tonight, I went to Cheddar's with my boyfriend and a mutual friend after watching a movie. We only ordered cocktails and appetizers. The appetizers (onion rings and cheese sticks) took twenty minutes to come out. Our second round of Margaritas took about ten minutes. Although I asked the waiter to bring us plates and silverware, we never received any. I have only left a restaurant without leaving a tip two times in my life. One of those times was tonight. I don't imagine I'll be returning to Cheddar'sin Longview for a VERY long time. read more

I LOVE the food here, it used to be my favorite restaurant, but most of the employees here are horrible. There are a few good ones, but most are rude teenagers who are very obviously on drugs. That was the lousiest meal I've had in years. My husband and I eat out 3-5 times a week, so we aren't novices in dining establishments. Philly cheese steak was tough over cooked end slabs of roast beef with mushroom thrown on top and topped with cold cheese. Salad greens were limp as was the acccompaning croissant. Monte Christo sandwich was cold as was cheese inside. Perhaps it had been cooked several days before. Waited 25 minutes and saw other people come in, order and be served before we were. Lousy waiter. Place needs to be cleaned. Both men's and women's bathrooms were filthy and no paper towels or toilet paper in either. Lousy management. My husband and I decided to try Cheddar's before going to a movie tonight. We got there around 5, which we thought was early, only to find a line already. Our wait was only about 10 minutes. It took about 10 minutes before the waitress came by to get our drink order. We told her we were wanting to make the movies in an hour, so she took our food order too. I had the ribs, which were good. The drinks took a while getting to us. Overall, I'd say the food was pretty good, the atmosphere was so-so. read more

This restaurant has the worst service ever. I would have given it a zero star if I could. Can't comment on the food since our party of 6 walked out. We came in and was seated down promptly. After 15 minutes of sitting there with no acknowledgement from any of the waitresses, I called the restaurant and told the hostess that we needed to order. She came to our table, and said that she would have someone come take our order. We waited another 5 minutes and decided to walk out. I told the manager about what happened and he said that he would get us an appetizer and take care of us, but the other 5 people were already in the car. We (party of 3) arrived at 1:05pm today. We were seated immediately and had a server within two minutes to take our drink order. About 5 minutes we got the drinks and ordered food. Our food finally got to the table at 2:03pm. We thought maybe they had to go find the beef and chicken at another location it took so long. The beef was very good but the chicken strips were very unsatisfactory. Dripping in grease. Barely cooked inside the breading. The grease tasted like it was weeks used and old. Mashed potatoes tasted totally awful like vomit. Honey mustard was watered down. Mac n cheese was bland as hell and runny. Couldn't even taste the cheese. Sent my order of chicken back and server asked if she could get me anything else. I said "No, it took nearly an hour to get this and the only thing that tasted good on my meal was the water". She apologized and said her manager said he tried it and it tasted bad to him and we would not be charged for that meal and also she said the manager would also come by to check on us but never showed up. I was totally Unsatisfied with the food. The server was good Not her fault the management was not doing their job. I will be eating at Texas Roadhouse next time we want beef n chicken. read more

I have given Cheddars a few chances now to change my initial impression and it's just not going to happen. The first time we went, my father ordered the nachos, but specifically stated he could not eat jalapenos. He was splitting an order with my mother. Well two orders came out, full for each and the beef had jalapeno in the sauce; a fact the waitress did not point out until we complained and acted as if it was my father's fault. She also made the choice for my father to give them both a full order. The manager was called over and proceeded to remove my mother's plate and say she was taking it off the ticket. Well the problem this presented was that now my father was left with just beef and jalapenos again, instead of the chicken which had none. The manager and waitress were very rude about their own mistakes too. When it came down to pay, the waitress gave my father no less than 5 difference answers as to how much the meal was. It was a disaster! Well we decided to give this place another shot. The next time we went, my parents ordered the philly steak sandwich and requested it be cut in half on two plates. Any other restaurant would have cut it for them. The kitchen has better knives. The waiter (Erik) absolutely refused to ask the kitchen. It was impossible to cut with the knife given to him. Since it could not be split, mom thought perhaps she might enjoy the fried onion. We asked Erik how much this cost. He had no idea and told me to grab a menu from this area where the waiters put them. When the onion arrived, the onion was not only not fully cooked, but cold as well. Another incident on that day, was that while trying to decide what to eat, the waiter, Erik came by and said, "Oh I'll come back when you get your stuff together!" It was quite rude. Cheddars has these cards to report on how they are doing. But they are not postage paid, so it's doubtful they really want to know. Unless you just like to drink alcoholic drinks, then I'd pass on this restaurant. The food is below par and the service is horrible!!! read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would, i'm sure most days this place is fine however today (a Wednesday) at noon, my mother and I decided to eat here for lunch. Upon entering there was no one at the hostess stand so we sat, around 3 to 5 minutes later the host appears and we are sat. I look at my clock it is 12:05. At 12:20 the server makes her way to our table (we are the only table towards this end of the restaurant besides the large party of 12 she seemed to be working. Once I realized she was our server, my sympathy kicked in. She took our drink and food order (as we had already decided because of the wait) my mom ordered a chicken fried steak and I ordered a half sandwich and soup. Roughly 10 minutes later a manager comes by and asks if our waitress had seen us, we tell her yes however she insists on taking our drink order again, and before the manager can return with our drinks, lo and behold there is our waitress. She assures us that she has turned in our food order. So now we wait. After the feeling of starvation consumed me to the point that I might scream I seek out the manager and let her know that our waitress hasn't stopped by for refills or so we can ask her where our food is, by this time the large party of 12 had left and the restaurant was quiet. I returned to our booth assuming the manager was promptly going to take care of the situation. At 1:15, after the server nor the manager had made contact with our table, we decided to leave. Nothing ugly was said, no attitudes were brought forth, we felt our silence and leaving should let anyone who cares about the operation of an establishment, such as that, know how we feel. read more

Good food but the service was so bad me and my family waited 15min to get a seat when they had over 30 tables open there was no host and when someone came to seat us it was the manager with food in her mouth and did not even say sorry or nothing instead she said the host is cleaning spoons and forks like really omg!!!! That not the worst of it so we had a waitress name Mary who was just awful she came and took our drink order and tried to walk away she did not even ask if we wanted appetizers which I did ... It took her 15 min to bring the drinks and another 5 min to bring straws smdh just so you know I timed everything!!!!!!! So 20 min later she came back to take our food order which we was ready than she tried to walk away when I asked where is my appetizer and she said there ready I was like how do you know she told me " I saw them in the window" .... So I was in shock that my food was not in my face at that point ... I'm done with this review I can go on but it makes my head hurt.... I will never eat there again !!!! read more

I eat out frequently and the server we had at Cheddar's was probably the most vile server I have ever encountered in a restaurant. This was the second time I've eaten here. Aside from the rude hostess that night, everything started out okay. He came, took our drink orders and our food orders promptly. But then as me and my girlfriend were waiting for our food, he came over and started talking to us. There was no issue at first but then he started using multiple profanities in his speech. He repeatedly complained about working at Cheddar's and how he was headed back to his old job. He then sat down at our table, uninvited, and continued to converse with us. He continued his profanity laced speech. Then another server brought our food and he then proceeded to make sexually harassing comments towards her. He never left as we began to eat our food, making the entire situation awkward. Then a group of black children walked by our table and he began to refer to them by a common African-American racial slur as each one walked by. Then he began to explain that he wasn't racist. He also made a your mom 'joke' as well. He also mentioned how the entire staff in the kitchen was behaving like drunks. Once he finally left, he never came to fill our drinks or offer deserts or the check. I had to finally ask for the check just so I could get out of the restaurant. This server needs a serious lesson in customer service and customer interaction. He completely ruined the meal with my girlfriend and we will not be returning to Cheddar's in Longview again. I can't really comment on the food since I didn't get to really enjoy it because of the garbage service we received. Pretty much everyone we dealt with was completely unprofessional. read more

on april 19th 2010 I was a guest n cheddars the waitress was very rude, I left my purse on the table before I could get to the parking lot I raned back in the restaurant my purse was gone,the waitress said that he didnt see it so I asked who cleaned the table n he said taht he don't know,so I went to the manger and sah told me that they couldnt tell me who cleaned the table and she was very rude and I had 700 dollars in my purse and they called the police on me and Im the one who got robbed at there restaurant, and when the police came they told the police that they dont know who bust the table, and I know that everyone is assigned to a certain section at the restaurant and I was treated like the bad person, and they tell me that they are not responsible for items left on the table but why did the waitress turn it in and he was the first one ot the table im sure to get his tip,I wasnt even at my car yet and my purse was gone.and the manger called me a black bit--.I was insulted and know that they have thives working in there restaurant read more
