Update December 2025: The Crab Rangoon & Hot and Sour Soup were still great. I ordered my usual soup and appetizer there. I tried a new dish on their menu that was recommended but it was a big mistake. I ordered the beef and mushrooms with brown sauce entree for $15. The beef was dry and unsavory. The mushrooms were good yet few. There was mostly bamboo shoots in the entree. One of the most plain and least seasoned Chinese entrees I ever had in my life. I am taking a star off for this entree and how small it was in portion. I should have just ordered General Tso chicken instead of this entree. Or a premium steak & vegetables in a large container at Panda Express for the same price - more & better meat - steak - and vegetables with better seasoning for the same price. read more

We eat here all the time, and have for years. They are always fast, and delicious. Never disappoints.

I remember when this was a sit down restaurant with wait staff and a full bar. During Covid they went to dining room closed delivery only, then to sit down and eat your take away there on disposable tableware, I miss the days of going in and having service and a nice drink, but the food is still as good, as ever. Really nice people run the place. we've been going for years and years. My husband used to go alone for the pickups, but now he's not been doing well and I go. They remember and always ask after him. I placed an order for delivery Friday afternoon. Was told it would be delivered within 30 minutes. I only live about 3 minutes away. After 40 minutes I called back and was told the driver had just left. After another 5 minutes I called again and the woman I spoke to who said she was the manger, told me the driver was out, told me she'd call him and call me back. After another wait, and no call from her, I called back at which time she told the driver was not answering his phone, she was extremely rude and combative. Jan 6, 2023 Lowering my expectations and previous review. HINT: CHECK TAKE-OUT ORDERS FOR CORRECT ITEMS! Ordered takeout from their online system, which ordered the correct food, but the chef filled it incorrectly. This required a new phone call, explaining what happened at least twice, then re-ordering the mistaken item as a replacement (they made it free), a 15-minute drive to and from the restaurant, and then sitting down with the family as their food was getting cold. That this happened once would be no "big thing," and the food quality is usually pretty good. But that this has happened three times (3x) in the last year, when an item was ordered correctly - but had a mistaken "take out" item substituted in its place - that is not so good. This happened each time on a Friday, and only when I included a tip ahead of time. And we order multiple dishes each time, about once every month. From now on, while I'm going to continue to order here, I'm going to call it in, and pay any tip in cash on pick up, and have the picked-up food checked that they are correct - before I leave the restaurant & provide any tip. I appreciate that they recognized and fixed the mistake. But I am not pleased this has happened more than once. Food quality is good. Service is usually very good. Accuracy in take-out (at least on Fridays) is - QUESTIONABLE. read more

For decades this has been our go to place for excellent food and service. Over the years a great and loving friendship has developed with the wonderful owners. Covid began a time of struggle for this business, and I would do anything to expose new people to the warm, pleasant, and marvelously tasty qualities of this fine business. We love this place for takeout! Why? (1) The food is really good, (2) it's packaged well so it's still warm/ crispy when you get it home, (3) the prices are good, and (4) it's ready really quickly (about 15 minutes). Did I mention they have a sweet set up for picking up foods that makes me think they are taking COVID seriously? Yeah, it's good stuff. I recommend the orange chicken, which is really orangey and not overly garlicky like some other places. The chicken with snow peas entree is also very good. I've never tried this restaurant having lived in the area my whole life but when I saw the really great reviews I wanted to try it. I got the Triple Kung Pao dish (beef, chicken and shrimp) and my partner got the curry chicken. We got steak skewers and chicken skewers to try. The delivery was quick and the food was delicious! Veggies were tender and the meat was so fresh and cooked great. We'll definitely be ordering from them from now on! read more

Really good Chinese food. I'm very wary of Chinese food sometimes because the chicken is weird quality or full of fuller, but this chicken was excellent. I had the General Tso's chicken and an order of crab Rangoon. Definitely the freshest crab Rangoon I've ever had. It was light and crispy and hot. The filling could have been better but overall it was excellent. Rice was kinda dry so if you have leftover chicken, be prepared to make your own rice. Maybe this is a meat eater's-only kind of place? We saw the great reviews and excitedly put in our delivery order. Pretty disappointing. The Szechuan Style Tofu was nearly flavorless. The sauce was the consistency of water, and the tofu wasn't cooked or fried - just big, oodly pieces of tofu. I've never had Chinese food with uncooked tofu. It's an unpleasant texture experience. We ordered the Sautéed Broccoli in Hot Garlic Sauce. It was good, and carried this three star review. I'd have preferred a bit more mushrooms and a slightly stronger flavoring, but it was good. The veggie spring rolls were okay too. A little tough, but an okay flavor. Overall, we're not likely to come again. We have a closer Chinese restaurant that's not great, but better. read more

We stopped by Taco Bell for a quick lunch and noticed the sign in the plaza so my husband begged to order shrimp fried rice so that he could taste it before he ordered his go to. So we called it in while in the Taco Bell drive through. It was ready in less than 10 mins. We got a small shrimp fried rice and an order of crab Rangoon. And boy!!! It was so good that we decided to eat there for dinner lol. We ordered general tso chicken, beef with broccoli, and shrimp fried rice (again). The food was delicious. This spot is good! I will be returning. The man was kind when I walked in and asked what I wanted to order. I let him know I was there for a pickup. In less than 10 minutes my food was ready! The rice is definitely fried unlike other restaurants I've been to. The beef & broccoli had a slight spicy to it (I asked for slight spice) and it was perfect! Food is good, workers who take the orders are friendly and very pleasant people. They will provide any combination of fried rice.

Chef Huang's has been a family weekend tradition since my father took us at age 12, my nieces and nephew at ages 2-3, and now they're kids. The restaurant moved once over the years but the current location is very clean and well kept. The doors are not automatic but the staff always help with the door and make sure we are comfortably seated with ample space with my wheelchair. The menu has a lot of options (all better than the next) but the daily buffet is absolutely delicious and always warm and fresh. The manager makes the experience special every-time we come. He gives you a warm welcome and brings warm freshly made appetizers to your table to personally serve you and make sure your happy. Chef Huang's is an amazing small business that has been a part of our lives for generations and we highly recommend them. read more

Unfortunately I am forced to write this review for my go-to place for the 15 years I have lived in this area. This staff has been kind , courteous and you can see they put their customer first. I was not really pleased when the ordering system was changed/upgraded but I understood this. However - the first time I used this system, in support of this business that I have used for so many years, there was a problem with my order - was not what was listed on the menu and when I called about it they kind of told me that I did not read what I read. If you live on Fort Belvoir and you find Rice King lacking, this place delivers on base. We use this restaurant at least once a week. We have ordered from different Asian restaurants around the Fort Belvoir area and this place is the best. They are fast to deliver, our order has never been wrong, and most importantly the food is great. I highly recommend Chef Huang's because everything I have ordered on their menu has resulted in a win. Price is comparable to area Asian restaurants. The only con for Chef Huang's is they are closed on Tuesday (said jokingly). This is obviously a family owned business and I realize they need to have at least one day off. read more

This may have been the best Chinese food I've ever had! The vegetable fried rice was tremendous, the soup was delicious and served hot. The entrees were very good and they were large enough to share. Our server was extremely welcoming and polite. He even gave us a 2020 Chinese Calendar. All this plus the place was extremely clean and the price was very reasonable for the food and services. I was not expecting this place to be as good as it is but believe the hype. It is good! My only complaint is that the menu is way too large. They really need to consolidate their menu and simplify it. The second thing I would say is that they need to update their website. It's not easy to order online and the website is not secure. We wanted to order online but our computers were giving us so many red flags that we just ended up calling in the order. My wife and I order Beef & broccoli, Chicken & broccoli, and Won Ton soup. Even though what we ordered is pretty basic, the flavor was a step above the regular Chinese restaurant. The beef was tender and the broth was not greasy or heavy. As for my wife's chicken and broccoli she said that the chicken was tender, even the second day the chicken was great. She also loves the soup and says that it's the right amount of broth and noodle.
