I honestly did not know what to expect when hiring a personal chef for a night. I found Lindsey (Lili Magnolia) via Yelp and chose her services because everything she displayed on her website felt honest. We needed a catered dinner in Topanga, CA for my friend's bachelorette weekend (15 ladies) and Lindsey was the perfect fit. PLANNING - Booked Lindsey about 2 months in advance - Quick to respond (usually within an hour) - Used Honeybook to book her services (e.g. sign contracts, make payments) so it felt safe and secure. - Customizable menu (we had a vegan guest and Lindsey had a bunch of suggestions) - In-tune with how much we wanted to spend per person (no more than $100) DAY OF - Showed up on time w/ her sous chef (our location was quite obscure in the Topanga Hills so we thought the drive was a bit daunting but she and her sous chef handled it like champs!) - She was extremely kind and gave us tips on how to roast vegetables! - Food was beyond delicious and for a party of 15, we did not run out - Flexible to serve the food buffet style or family style, up to us - Did not need instructions around the kitchen or the grill in the backyard (We had rented an Airbnb) MENU (highly recommend) Starters: - marinated roma tomatoes w/ grilled garlic bread - crab cakes w/ romesco sauce - seasonal crudites w/ dip Salads: - rustic whole leaf caesar salad w/ torn croutons & shaved parmesan - zucchini carpaccio w/ arugula salad, shaved parmesan & pine nuts Mains: - classic roast chicken w/ citrus & rosemary - grilled skirt steak w/ chimmichurri - marinated grilled tofu w/ sautéed wild mushrooms (vegan) Sides: - roasted baby carrots - roasted brussel sprouts - classic garlic mashed potatoes All in all, I would highly recommend her services. As weird as this sounds, they blended into the background and did not get in the way of our party for the night. However, they were super caring and gracious enough to bring our dishes to the table when we had inadvertently switched from having it buffet style to family style. On top of that, Lindsey and her sous chef worked quickly and efficiently to put out the food for us. They cleaned up the kitchen and left it nicer than they had found it. In addition, they also wrapped up leftovers and put them right into the fridge for us. (Yes, the leftovers the next day were still delicious) I would definitely book her again if I find myself in the LA area needing a chef.

Additionally, per the instructions, I paid the $97 fee and also covered the cost of a foam board through The Copy Shop; however, the cart ultimately provided was not able to accommodate the foam board. I originally placed an order for three shrimp hibachi plates with rice and vegetables, but shortly before pickup, a few friends decided they were coming over. I called back and asked if they could add two more orders, bringing us to five full plates... and thankfully they had no problem accommodating the change. That already won me over. Now let's talk about the FOOD... because WOW. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The rice was absolutely delicious and seasoned so well that every bite had flavor. The vegetables were grilled perfectly... soft enough to be cooked through, but still had that fresh crisp bite that made them taste even better. And then there was the sauce. Not the hot sauce (because I'm a complete wimp when it comes to spicy food ), but that OTHER sauce... listen... I would literally buy that by the jar and put it on everything in my kitchen.
