We tried calling multiple times and only reached an answering service that couldn't provide any real help. No one from the actual business ever called us back. No updates. No explanation. No apology. Nothing. For a holiday order that families rely on, this level of disregard is unacceptable. We were left scrambling at the last minute because this company simply did not show up or communicate. Based on our experience, Chef Mario, Inc. feels completely unreliable, and we strongly urge others to think twice before placing an order. Our workplace catered from here today for an assortment of sandwiches and salads. Timeliness: 5 stars Food quality: 5 stars Dessert taste: 3 stars (the brownies had an off flavor to them, the cookies were great) Meals came with sweet and unsweetened tea, the salad was very creative filled with sweet corn kernels and chickpeas! The dressing was VERY innovative (tomato basil dressing!) garlic mayo, marinara dip with the sandwiches. The ham, chicken and turkey sandwiches were perfect but the sandwich that shined the chef's creativity was the vegetarian. Did they slap in cheese and tomato and lettuce and call it a day? Heck no! They roasted red yellow and orange peppers thinly sliced, then roasted eggplants, zucchini, green peppers, onions, and cheese and made it sit inside of a beautiful soft bread. So much care to roast every ingredient separately to the point that not a single sandwich had any soggy-dreaded moisture. Excellent meal! read more

I have ordered corporate catering from Chef Mario's for YEARS. They always impress my meeting groups and their vegetarian(!) sweet potato burritos LITERALLY recently got me a round of applause from my team. The food is amazing, fresh, always well-balanced, and the menu combinations are practically endless! Holly and the team take special care to make sure all dietary restrictions and allergies are considered and noted on the pretty menu they print for you. They set everything up (they even bring ice for the drinks and don't just leave it in a bag on your counter) so if you're busy and always ordering lunch, you can NOT go wrong with them. Everyone is super nice and attentive to your needs. I cannot recommend them enough. I, and everyone I order for, just loves Chef Mario's! The apple Betty desserts are NOT. TO. BE. MISSED!! Salads are always colorful (that means they're better for you!) and the dressings are so good. Beef Asian noodles are my favorite thing they make (they're called something more specific on the menu... slips my mind at the moment) Order from them and receive compliments on your catering choice. I'm a fan of the tasty selections I can choose from at the Cafe. I have lunch there a lot. Sometimes all the specials sound so good, it's hard to choose. And also, luckily, my sister and I were fortunate enough to be able to take a class from Chef. I say lucky because, he was wonderful to learn from. He matched the agenda to what we wanted to learn. He was cheerful. He showed us his tricks, the favorite tools he uses, the shortcuts. And while we practiced, he was very instructive, correcting us (with kindness - no harsh or scary admonishments). The food is outstanding and the service is true perfection! Chef's wife is bubbly, fun, and full of great suggestions to create the perfect catering menu for any event. Every appetizer, entree and dessert is prepared with care by the Chef and his staff. Unique flavors and ingredients are used that will absolutely knock your socks off! All details are monitored with great precision, right down to the color of the linens in comparison to the presentation of the food. The staff are professional and friendly. The breakfast/lunch counter features many scrumptious Chef's specials with really great prices. It's a perfect destination for a break from the office with coworkers. Don't let the name fool you. Chef Mario's is the best kept secret in Raleigh. Fresh cooked meals made from locally sourced ingredients when possible. You order by Sunday evening and pick up (or get delivery on Wed/Thursday). You can order as many or as few as you want. Keto-Paleo- GF and Veg options. I don't cook and these meals are lifesaving. We were visiting Cotton Inc for Company Training this past week and Chef Mario catered the entire week. The food was amazing! We had Shrimp and Grits to Box Lunches. At first I was skeptical about the box lunches but I must say, it was the best box lunch I have ever had. The Garlic Mayo was amazing. His desserts were scrumptious!
