I have been hearing about Tastefully served for some time now but haven't had a chance to purchase any of her meals yet. While at a retreat I got to taste several of Meredith's meals. Her food is made with fresh ingredients and taste really good. My favorite meals were the braised short ribs and the Peruvian chicken with plantains and corn. Her pita bread was fresh and the hummus was tasty. Her granola that topped the fruit parfaits was also really good. Meredith is so sweet and modest. She prepared our meals calmly and efficiently. This food is absolutely delicious and so totally convenient!! I've ordered from them four times now, and everything we've ordered has not only included fresh veggies and solid flavor, but the most perfectly cooked chicken breasts that have ever been served in my house. For example: cherry BBQ chicken with french green beans and Mac and cheese is our personal favorite, but we also love the Thai Curry Soup, Ratatouille, and individual portions of lasagna. I've ordered something from them every week since and pick them up on Wilmington St in Raleigh on my way to work - I just keep the cooler and ice packs in the car all day, it's so easy! I love the ease of the online ordering system, and unlike delivery meal kits I'm not committed to a minimum to avoid shipping. If I just want 1 dinner and 1 lunch one week I get that. Really cool concept. Think private chef that you preorder a healthy and delicious meal from at an affordable cost. Ordered the shrimp and grits and a turmeric coated chicken thigh with rice and cauliflower. Both were gluten free and delicious. More importantly, the owner went above and beyond to walk me through the process: order ahead, pick up or delivery on a designated day (Tuesday). Great food, great service. Wait, first to review?? How have more people not been on here raving about Tastefully Served?? Alright, well this is going to be a long one, but I'll try to fill you in on how it all works (and how much I love it!). So when I first heard about this service, I was intrigued. It was shared on my neighborhood FB page and I wondered how it was different from something like Hello Fresh or those other 'meal delivery' options. Well, first, because this is actually your meal. Delivered. No prep. No chopping. A delicious, well-balanced meal, made by a local chef... and all you have to do is heat it up. What's the catch? None. You place your order by Thursday afternoon of the previous week. The meals come delivered to your door on Monday or Tuesday of the next week (depending on where you're located, you are assigned a delivery window). If you aren't home during the time slot, leave out an ice chest and you'll come home to find... dinner! It's packed in microwave and oven safe packaging. So really, it's pretty fool proof. No excuses. They even list out the calories and ingredients for you on their website when you place your order the week before. Gluten free? They call out when they have those as an offering. Vegetarian? They have options there too. They even have 'standalone' items that you can order like breakfast wraps, granola, local coffee, etc. I started a new job a few months ago. I went from working from home almost daily to now having a 30 minute drive each way, every day. It made making healthy, delicious meals at home more of a challenge. Especially with two toddlers. Not only that, but healthy meals and portion control was really important for me. I had recently lost all of my second (ok and first) child baby weight, and was staying active, but was having a hard time fitting in the time to cook something decent and then have healthy options to bring in to work as well. Tastefully Served has seriously been a lifesaver. Really, I can't sing their praises any higher! I still cook a few nights a week, but TS has taken the burden and stress off at least a couple. And the nice part, there's no obligation, no reoccurring, mandatory ordering. You literally just order the week before you want it. I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks but I'm able to prepare my meal order ahead of time so I don't have to stress about that on top of recovery. Disclaimer: you can order the week before, but the cutoff for next week's order is on Thursday afternoon... by Friday, I can already see the options for the following week, thus I'm able to order two weeks out). Ok, that makes it sound complicated but it really isn't. Let me get to the rest of the details: They deliver for free in the North Raleigh area. So if you're in that area, check it out. If you're not... well, you might be out of luck but contact them. They've always been very helpful when I've had questions. The cost? It's listed per portion with each item. You can order large sizes and the price goes down a little the larger it is. I initially thought it was pricey but when I started to calculate how much I was spending on individual meals/runs to the grocery store, the prep time I was putting into it and time away from my family or being able to get stuff done around the house... oh and how much I would spend on fast or even restaurant food when trying to scramble for dinner options? Well, I found it was comparable or at least justifiable for the cost of my sanity. I also find the portions pretty generous. Keep in mind, I've been doing portion control with most of my meals for the last couple of years, so the fact that it's broken down for me and already split out is great. If I want to share with my kids, I usually find I have enough between our two portions, or I can supplement with more veggies or a salad. Ok, I think I've listed all the details? Check them out. When my husband recently had back surgery our out-of-State son and daughter-in-law sent us a Tastefully Served gift certificate. I promptly ordered from them not knowing what to expect as far as freshness, taste, portion etc... I was thrilled when it was delivered already prepared with easy to heat instructions, both microwavable or in the oven. I cannot say enough about how delicious and wonderful the food is. The ingredients are fresh and perfectly proportioned. We're hooked. We have since ordered two meals a week and have never been disappointed. The prices are very reasonable and delivery is free. We have had about three different occasions to order meals from Tastefully Served, and let me tell you - these folks keep getting BETTER EVERY TIME !!! If I / we could give them 10 stars we would. They have a twice baked potatoe that is OFF THE CHAIN !!! (Wonder if they could use beef bacon - yes there is such a thing - instead of pork) but as I'm not a total purist, we ate it and it was delcious. The lasagne has been a life saver to have on hand (I freeze them) for the kids on busy nights or nights when my husband and I are going out and have a babysitter coming. So delicious and easy to throw in the oven- homemade dish for the kids! Moroccan chicken tagine and chicken pot pie, made with the best flaky puff pastry crust, have been our family favorites so far!
