The process was super simple. I found her on yelp. She hit me back probably w/in 15-20 minutes. I wanted a nice meal made for my wedding anniversary. Year 11 married for Hubby and I. I knew I wanted steak and potatoes. She came up w/the chimmichurri (which I knew I loved), zuppa tuscana and infused strawberry shortcake. She and her assistant/sous chef came over a little bit early (I was a little late ) and she was just awesome! Very warm, personable and knows what she's doing. They were ein my kitchen working their magic and the smell of mouth watering food filled the house. The soup was done first. Hubby basically melted into the chair after his first bite. Seriously! It was flavorful and light abs presented in a very simple but comfort food way. 10 out of 10! A bit later the steak, loaded potato abs brussel sprouts came out. BOOM!! Looked good as f*ck and tasted out of this world! The steak was seasoned well w/out being salty or over done. There was a slight non spicy zing from the chimichurri. Also need to note the chimmichurri tasted so fresh, and flavorful I wanted to eat just the chimnichurri w/a spoon or slather it on EVERYTHING!! I definitely ate at least have of my brussel sprouts w/this magical, fresh, herby sauce.... because it was that damn good! Eating this had me thinking up schemes... ahem plans to get Layha to stay and cook more... or everything . I can and end very much enjoy cooking... but now I feel like I can't go back to my own cooking (woman womp). Oh well. I already booked Chef Layha for New Year, my birthday and Mother's day before the meal was completed. She also made these cute and small bourbon infused strawberry shortcakes. Real strawberries. Simple delicious, and juicy flavor. NOT SOGGY at all. Not overly sweet. Flippin awesome ! She also made some rotelle nachos for my kiddos when they get out of school later. I'll be tasting that very soon. Probably right after I hit the post button . Either way Chef Layha has some real talent. She made my day as well as my husband's. Her food was impeccable. Every single week we are blown away by the flavor, creativity, and care she puts into her cooking. Her meals are so good that we honestly no longer want to eat out. The food she prepares for us at home is consistently better than what we would order at restaurants, and that says everything. Each dish feels intentional, nourishing, and beautifully balanced, with just the right touches to make it feel special without ever being heavy. Every meal has been outstanding, and the consistency is what truly sets her apart. Chef Steph has completely changed the way we eat at home, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found her. I never thought I'd be able to justify the luxury of a private chef service, but I keep this…read moreservice as a lifeline in my back pocket for weeks that we just need a little extra help, like when the demands of parenting and working during a global pandemic seem extra burdensome. So far, we've had three appointments, and they've all been wonderful. For each one in advance, you choose the time/date for your chef, three entree items and three sides. The "sides" is a bit of a misnomer, as you can often make meals of these in themselves. They include salads, hot breakfast casseroles, pies, and more. Recipes range from Mongolian Beef to Shepherd's Pie, homemade granola bars, Thai Chicken salad, etc. I imagine if we did this weekly, the options might get monotonous, but doing it every once in a while works out well for us so that there are usually a few new options that appear the next time we're ready to book an appointment. For each item you'll see an estimate on how much extra it will add to your bill in groceries in addition to the base chef cost. The chef will stop at your local HEB to shop for your ingredients fresh right before your appointment. You pay a $35 deposit, which you can get refunded if you cancel the appointment by the stated deadline (and they send you frequent reminders -- they're not trying to pull one over). On average with tip and the cost of groceries, we usually spend around $225 for our family of four. The meals last us a while. Sometimes we share them with friends who could use an extra meal, or sometimes we freeze the leftovers. There are instructions for reheating, freezing, etc. As stated in other reviews the chefs are generally efficient and very tidy, leaving your kitchen looking spotless, with a huge amount of prepared food for you to enjoy (it's hard not to dive right in). Communication by text is great. During COVID, the chef has worn a mask during the appointment and the service has had very clearly communication about canceling in the event of COVID exposure, etc. I appreciate that they're taking it seriously. If I had a couple of critiques, it would be that whatever process gets communicated to the chef regarding ingredients might need to be streamlined. The past two appointments, our chef has had to make a couple of grocery store trips because he forgot items, and this prolongs the preparation process. I would also love to see a bit more variety to the menu options. It would be nice to have it broken down roughly by type of dish (seafood, beef, casserole, etc.) and price (budget friendly or special splurge). Other than those minor tweaks, we love the service, and I imagine we'll keep using it as occasional customers.

This was the first time i've hired a catering service to come in for a party because I usually like to cook. However after doing that for several years I realized I was missing out on a lot of the fun and conversations with my guests. Chef Eric and his team showed up about an hour early professionally dressed of course and unpacked their gear to prep everything and chat . We had opted to have an extra staff member come with him and she took care of serving, pouring drinks etc. which was invaluable I would highly suggest doing this as she walked around with Hors D'oeuvre and was such a delight to the ambiance. All of the food was incredible as one might expect, steak, fish, salads, polenta cakes and much more was perfect. Dessert was SERIOULSLY good - the Carmel Budino (photo attached). Aside from the delicious food and wonderful service we appreciated the extra mile the team went to completely clean everything and put the kitchen back to exactly as it was, they even swept the floor. I couldn't believe it. I highly recommend any menu from them and i'll definitely be using Culinary Misfits again in the near future. The icing on the cake was not only did they prepare, plate and serve everything but he memorialized the event by making a cool TikTok video which I am SO HAPPY ABOUT!
