Our teacher was fantastic -- informative, patient, encouraging, and always so helpful. We learned essential cooking techniques, kitchen basics, and so many delicious recipes that I'll continue making at home. The class itself was equally special because we had such a great group of students and truly enjoyed learning and cooking together each week. I will genuinely miss this class and look forward to taking more classes at LA Cooking School in the future. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their cooking skills in a fun and welcoming environment!

Teaching: classes are structured and run on time. Teachers are fantastic and patient, especially with new students. Most of the classes are paired off in groups which means individual instruction and supervision is minimal so unless you're looking for something more formal with extremely tailored feedback, a private session is likely better versus a group setting. Other Comments: this was likely a one-off incident, but at a class I attended. I was disappointed with the assistant (Stephanie). As the class was winding down and desserts were being handed, for some reason, she served herself and ate before completing distribution so there were several attendees who didn't receive their desserts (which they paid for!). It was bizarre and unprofessional, which was weird given that she had been helpful and attentive throughout the class so I don't know what happened. She also seemed not to have budgeted well and hadn't purchased enough ingredients, especially for the dessert, which may be another reason for why we ran out so fast at this particular class.

I'm working solo and the environment seems very conducive to both individuals and groups. They just opened this week so the space is still relatively quiet. I've found spaces to hide away in solitude to really focus, but I've enjoyed spending most of my time in the main common area which has a relaxed, buzzing vibe of activity. Their phone booth rooms are also perfect to hop in and take calls in as needed. Every part of the space has fantastic panoramic views of the city and natural light. The staff here are all incredibly friendly and accommodating and it's generally a great environment for me to accomplish a day's work.

The two-story layout…read moreis incredibly spacious, and even at half occupancy for the whole space currently, there are tons of private spaces to hide away that are open to the public: a cozy library area, lots of nooks created in the main common room, and breakout areas up on the 18th floor. The decor is modern and mature, and the atmosphere feels like a "real" office compared to other more youth-oriented coworking spaces that blare music and tout beer taps. The offices are incredibly spacious -- though noise does leak through office to office, so if you want to be kind to your neighbors, put down a rug to help with that -- and the workspace is very comfortable (a wide desk, a Herman Miller chair). The team is what makes the place, though: Praynka, Jacey, and Emily really have gone out of their way to make sure the atmosphere has been conducive to work and to residents getting to know each other, in equal harmony. (Who knew daily free breakfast and afternoon snacks were a great way to get people out of their offices?) Lots of healthy snacks + wine/beer/Mexican coke (!) in the community fridge means I've actually lost weight since working here, too. So that's something.
